19.01.2022 So, what do we chiropractors do and why do people come to see us? Hot off the press, this recently published scoping review of 337 peer-reviewed articles (selec...ted from over 14,000 possible articles!) looked at the utilisation rates of chiropractic, why people seek chiropractic care, the patient profiles and the care provided. The key findings were: - the 12-month utilisation of chiropractic care is about 10% - in the general population, MSK conditions were the predominant reason (44%) for people seeking chiropractic care - low back pain (49.7%) and neck pain (22.5%) were the most common reasons for people seeking care - women (57%) in their 40's were the most likely people to seek chiropractic care - commonly used assessment procedures included static palpation, motion palpation, spinal examination, orthopaedic testing and neurological testing and about 1/3 used X-ray imaging - spinal manipulation was the most commonly used treatment intervention, used by 4/5 chiropractors, with soft-tissue therapy and patient-education also commonly used There's a lot of information to be gleaned from this excellent article - most definitely worth a thorough read :) Congratulations and thanks to the authors. https://chiromt.biomedcentral.com//10.11/s12998-017-0165-8

11.01.2022 IMPORTANT INFORMATION At present we are remaining open, however we are keeping a close watch on the numbers of confirmed cases of COVID-19 infections in South Australia. We are moving forward with extreme care and implementing strict criteria for anyone entering the clinic.... This includes; - Must not have travelled interstate or internationally in the last 2 weeks OR have close contact with anyone who has. - Anyone with cold or flu symptoms, cough, fever, sneezing or congestion must reschedule until they are sure they are well enough to attend an appointment. - Only people with appointments are allowed in the waiting room (with the exception of parents and guardians of children) Our clinic maintains strict hygiene practices including regular use of disinfectant on surfaces after contact including front desk area and treatment tables, door handles, chairs and bathroom. In addition to thorough hand washing before and after every patient, we are encouraging everyone use the hand sanitiser at the front desk upon entry. We have been receiving daily updates from the Government and our Chiropractic Association which includes advice and the current recommendations for patient management and are following them closely. If it becomes clear that we are in danger of promoting transmission and can no longer guarantee safety, we will have to close our doors for a period of time and work out other means of care. Kind regards and stay healthy, Jason Davis Aberfoyle Spinal Centre

01.01.2022 It is a common belief that Back pain will get worse because of arthritis. While the graph isn't the most thorough it is interesting to note that the rate of back pain in the general population reduces as the rate of arthritis gets higher. Take home message is that we can't blame back pain on arthritis or increasing age!

01.01.2022 Dear Patients, Please note these new locations of concern and seek testing immediately if you have visited during the dates/times listed.
