Performed by our Senior Performance Team, this routine was filmed in our studios in Newcastle, Australia. The performing arts industry has suffered greatly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are incredibly proud of our students’ dedication and r...esilience in these unforeseen times, with their passion for dance proceeding to flourish. Our studio continued classes in their entirety through lockdown, and the routine presented to you today has been predominantly taught and rehearsed via ZOOM. When first creating this piece, the music was chosen because of its high level of emotional impact. However, as the year progressed, it has proven to have deep significance. Performed and co-written by Cynthia Erivo for the 2019 biopic film ‘Harriet’, the lyrics allude to Harriet Tubman’s struggles and unwavering spirit. My personal growth within Ablaze Dance Academy has been supported by an encouraging environment, welcoming students, innovative choreography, and challenging and effective training. It has been enhanced by teachers who care about each student’s passions, needs, safety and artistic development. The Ablaze Dance Academy Classical Part Time Program has been extremely beneficial, as it has promoted extensive and swift improvement in my technique. It has developed my understanding of all styles of dance; provided me with education in injury prevention and recovery, and assisted me in expanding my knowledge in the areas of anatomy and nutrition. This Program has helped me to have a clear understanding of what to expect in auditions, the qualities companies desire, as well as the many pathways to professional dance careers. The program has allowed me to learn and grow while maintaining excellent academic results at school. I personally believe the most significant quality of those mentoring at Ablaze Dance Academy is that they have been so accepting and encouraging of my goals and aspirations. The studio cares about every individual students’ personal plans and works towards a broad range of skills where those goals may still be being fine-tuned. The Academy provides many opportunities and will support each and every child no matter their objective or vision. The focus on student’s health, progression and individual needs takes precedence, and therefore supports and challenges each dancer in their pursuits Ablaze Dance Academy was my absolute best fit when I was looking for a studio. Danica started her training at Ablaze Dance Academy at the age of 9, and commenced her classical ballet training from age 10. Having just turned 16, Danica has achieved a great deal in this short amount of time, and has blossomed into a stunning technician. We have loved watching and guiding her on her dance and personal development journey. In 2019, Danica completed her Certificate III in Assistant Teaching, and is currently studying her Certificate IV through ATOD. She is now an assistant teacher with us, working closely with our junior school, and has great rapport with our students. Danica displays a high level of dedication and consistency in her work, and is always looking to improve her skill set across the board. We love having Danica as part of our classical ballet full time program and look forward to watching her successful journey continue to unfold. Below are some of Danica’s most recent achievements.
