This is a great opportunity for first years to speak with some of the more experienced members of the society and try out university debating in the lead up to Easters. We also need plenty of pros to come and speak/judge, so if you’ve been missing in person debating make sure to come along! 15.01.2022 The ANU Debating Society is incredibly proud to endorse a number of our members who are running for positions in the upcoming ANUSA election! Each of these candidates has contributed positively and significantly to our society, and we are extremely excited to support their respective candidacies! Sophie Jaggar, our current Vice President (Diversity Portfolio), is running for a second term as ANUSA Social Officer on her independent ticket Sophie for Social - Sophie Jaggar for... Social Officer. Sophie has been heavily involved in the society throughout her time at the ANU with roles as committee at Events Officer (2018, 2019), and through her current role as Vice President. Jordyn Gibson, running for the role of General Secretary with the Go the Distance with ANUSA ticket, has contributed to the ANU Debating Society immensely since arriving at the ANU in 2017 through her role as Development Officer (2018), President (2019), and Wom*n’s Officer (2020)! Marlow Meares is also a current committee member of the ANU Debating society and holds the role of first-year representative! Marlow is running with Refocus your ANUSA for the position of General Representative! Christian Flynn, running for ANUSA Vice President with the Brighter Together ANUSA ticket, has been a member of the society since 2018, and held the role of Treasurer on our executive committee in 2019. Skanda Panditharatne, also an ANU Debating Society Member, is running for the role of ANUSA President, ANU Council Member and NUS Delegate with the Go the Distance with ANUSA ticket. Society Members Lily Law and Isha Singhal are also running for the position of General Representative with the You for ANUSA and Proud of our ANUSA tickets respectively! We would encourage everyone to consult the policies of these respective candidates, and to support them in the upcoming ANUSA election from 24-27 August!

ANU 3: Margaret Tsai and Mai Greenall Adjs: Gayatri Pande and Estelle Novenka Florens We will keep you updated on the progress of our amazing contingent throughout the course of the competition! We will also be holding a send-off event for our AWDC Contingent at Badger and Co. on ANU Campus, at 7pm on Tuesday the 27th of October! A Facebook event will be posted soon, so please consider coming along to support the send-off of some of the incredible wom*n in ANU Debating!!!

03.01.2022 Australasian Wom*n’s Debating Championship Results Our contingent did incredibly at AWDC 2020, and we’d like celebrate the achievements of our amazing contingent members! ANU 1 (Amrit Agastia and Matthew Conley-Evans) were runners up of the Open Grand Final! ... ANU 2 ( Sophie Kim and Jessica Musulin) also broke to the open grand final! Amrit was also best ESL speaker and best open speaker of the competition! Matthew was best novice speaker of the competition and 3rd best open speaker! Jessica was the 2nd best open speaker of the competition! Jordyn Gibson was 5th best open speaker of the competition! To be runners up of AWDC 2020, for members of our society to be the top 3 best open speakers of the competition, and for so many of our members to be recognised at the awards ceremony, is an incredible achievement! A massive congratulations goes to the entirety of our contingent, whether they we were recognised at tonight’s award ceremony or not, for their incredible work and achievements at AWDC 2020.

02.01.2022 Interested in being part of the ANU Debating mentorship program? Given the slow lifting of COVID-19 restrictions and the re-emergence of ANU Debating's weekly internals (albeit online) ANU Debating is re-vamping its mentorship program. All members of the ANU Debating are encouraged to express their interest in either mentoring a less experienced debater, or being mentored themselves! This program is seeking to provide younger debaters, particularly those who are members of m...arginalised groups, with an opportunity to be mentored by established members of the society who will be able to assist younger debaters get acquainted with the strange world of university debating. Whether you are keen to be a mentor, or to be mentored by someone else, all members of the ANU Debating society are encouraged to express their interest! Even if you signed up for this program in Semester 1, make sure you still fill in the google form below to re-register your interest!
