25.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Yvonne Brown from N.S.W. is presenting tomorrow morning at 6 am for Women Banding Together. Worth jumping online and booking in! It should be really interesting. The data will be invaluable. The Roundtable of Instrumental, Vocal, and Music Education Organisations (RIVMEO) is conducting a state-wide survey and we need you to be involved.... RIVMEO will use the data to lobby government and departmental authorities in order ensure the safe and ongoing conduct of school and community music ensemble activities. ABODA NSW is proud to be a member of RIVMEO, the largest coalition of music organisations ever assembled in NSW. Its membership includes associations, institutions and organisations representing the breadth and depth of the State’s vast music community. RIVMEO is working on your behalf to carry the voice of our sector to government. 16.01.2022 Hi all. We’re very pleased to say that this afternoon’s meeting with the NSW Minister for Health Brad Hazzard and Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant went really well. They listened very carefully to our concerns and are keen to work with us on finding a way forward. We’re thankful to them for engaging with the music sector in such a positive way. We’ll be providing further details in the very near future. We are also hopeful of a meeting with Education soon, and will post updates here.

10.01.2022 ABODA NSW would like to take the opportunity to thank departing President Sarah Butler for her leadership throughout 2020. Sarah has led us through the hardest of times with aplomb, working hard in both ABODA and RIVMEO to ensure the best possible outcomes, both musically and professionally, for the music community throughout NSW. We wish Sarah all the best for her PhD sabbatical, and look forward to seeing her again when she returns.

07.01.2022 Vale Larry Curtis. A truly inspirational teacher, musician, conductor, educator and beautiful man. Larry had a long association with Australia through his work with ABODA, The Australian Wind Orchestra and the Pan Pacific Music Camps over many decades. He was a dear friend and mentor to Russell Hammond and Stephen Williams along with 100's of Australian Musicians and Conductors.... 04.01.2022 Hi Everyone, In response to the recent guidelines from The Association for Independent Schools and the Department of Education, ABODA NSW is working with other peak bodies and associations to approach the NSW Government for clarification on these issues. We will join other organisations to seek meetings with the government to lobby on the recent issues regarding school bands, orchestras and choirs. The situation we find ourselves in now is dependant on our influence which is... reflected by our membership numbers and we encourage all conductors and educators to make use of our open membership for ABODA NSW in 2020. Link below. We are committed to support our members in every way possible and will keep you updated on our progress. Please remember ABODA NSW Committee are volunteers who find themselves in the same predicament as everyone else. As such we are committed to give our time to policy change so won’t be able to closely monitor the Facebook comments, however will be noting all your requests as they come through.
