13.01.2022 Sunday afternoon thoughts... Last night another 6 kittens were born into the world. This gorgeous girl is Marge and came into foster care heavily pregnant who i...s only just over 12 months old. She also came into foster care with her mother who had a litter of kittens only 5 days old as well as kittens from a previous litter who were now approximately 4 months old. Our total of cats and kittens in foster care is now 55! That is another 55 forever homes we need to find for these poor animals, most will be ready before the Christmas holidays. We can’t emphasise the importance of desexing your animals enough. Marge’s mother is an example of how many kittens one cat can bring into the world unnecessarily. In September 2019, she had a litter of kittens (5), then in June she had another litter of (4) and now again in October she has had another litter of (5), add that together with Marge who has now had a litter of (6) we are now at a total of 21 cats brought into the Townsville community in 12 months from 1 household. Thankfully we will be able to desex a total of 15 of these 21 cats before they are in forever homes, but you do have to think, I wonder how many of the other 6 are actually desexed, or are they out there continuing the cycle?

10.01.2022 One of the most common questions I get asked is, "When should I bring my child in for their first visit?" The answer is 12 months or when they start to get their first teeth coming through. - Lauren, OHT.
