19.01.2022 On Friday it was world Teachers Day which is always a day to be celebrated for us. Staff shared positive affirmations with each other, and it was also a Halloween dress up day which the students embraced and enjoyed.
19.01.2022 Hello everyone. This Term I am doing gardening, looking at recycling and everything plants during our Art sessions. We have some pots of mint for sale for $5 if you would like to add mint to your garden at home. If you have a garden bed, it will be happier in there than the pot (or a large pot). It is a very hardy plant. Each Christmas holidays our mint patch dies off with the heat and lack of tlc, but as soon as it is watered again it springs back to life. You can either drop into the Acacia Hill School Office, or let me know so I can send it home with your child's bus driver. best wishes Veronica

16.01.2022 If anyone would like to purchase some of our wrapping paper, we have a regular supply available at the front office. There are 10 - 12 pieces, 1 or 2 of which may have a small rip or tear. It is $5 (less than 50c per sheet) In art class about once a Term we build up supplys as it is very popular (and very beautiful). thanks Veronica (Art Teacher)

12.01.2022 COVID-19 Update 4/06/2021 In addition to arrivals from Greater Melbourne and Bendigo, the new CHO Directions in regards to the COVID-19 outbreak in Victoria requires that: Anyone travelling to the Northern Territory from the state of Victoria must undertake 14 days of mandatory, supervised quarantine at the Alice Springs or Howard Springs quarantine facilities from 12 noon on 3 June 2021. Anyone who is currently in the Northern Territory who has visited a Tier 1 Exposure ...Site in Victoria and is undertaking quarantine must remain in quarantine (unless to get tested) until noon of the 14th day after they were at the exposure site, regardless of returning a negative COVID-19 test or not. Should the Tier 1 site be downgraded to Tier 2 or Tier 3 site, impacted people may leave quarantine at this time as long as they are not awaiting a COVID-19 test result. Anyone who arrived in the Northern Territory from Victoria between 12 May 2021 and 12.00am on 27 May 2021 must check the Victorian Department of Health website at least once per day because the list of public exposure sites is continually expanding. Arrivals must ensure they are complying with NT quarantine and testing directions if a place they have been to becomes a public exposure site. Anyone who is symptomatic, regardless as to whether or not they have been in a declared COVID-19 hotspot, must isolate, seek a test, and remain in self-quarantine until a negative test is returned. Victorian public exposure sites continue to change and impacted individuals are required to identify themselves to Northern Territory health authorities and follow the relevant directions. Thank you Julie
11.01.2022 Over weeks 2, 3 and 4 some of the Art Classes are visiting a couple of Art Galleries to fit in with the curriculum. We are looking at viewing artworks with acceptable audience behaviour, looking at basic features of artworks, identifying materials used, looking at different symbols used and much more. We are also choosing a painting that we like the best. So far it has been a lot of fun and the students have made our school shine.
11.01.2022 Hi Everyone - A safe and happy holidays to you all. Time for us all to recharge the batteries for the run up to Christmas. Here are some photos from our garden. I love Term 2 and 3 as the weather is prefect for planting, growing and gardening. This year we had an absolute bumper crop of peas in the garden. Most kids loved them an some were opposed to them. We have had to move the worm farm into the shade now that it has warmed up. best wishes Veronica
06.01.2022 Room 5 helped to set up our worm farm in the garden during Term 2. While the weather is beautiful we like to spend time in the garden planting, watering and weeding. We also made paper bricks in Term 2 as a part of our theme discussion about recycling and reusing with Ronnie.
04.01.2022 We have 2 entries in this exhibition. Have some fun and vote for your favorites

01.01.2022 Hi Everyone - this Term as a part of our 'We are Healthy' theme is am putting a strong focus on recycling and our environment. Please read the blurb below and see if this is something you can impliment at home. The students and I have provided our classrooms with their first plastic bottle to kick start what I hope will become an ongoing part of life. Plastic Bottle Rubbish Disposal At home we will fill the plastic bottle with all of our small non-biodegradable Rubbish. Bi...odegradable - capable of being decomposed by bacteria or other living organisms and thereby avoiding pollution. Aim- To reduce small non-biodegradable rubbish from being a hazard and blowing around in the environment. Plastic bottles won’t break down for many years, so the rubbish inside it won’t be blowing around. When it is stuffed full we throw it out with the rest of the rubbish (it was already going to be thrown out, only now it is full of non-biodegradable rubbish) Materials Any Large Plastic Bottle with a lid that is going into the rubbish bin-eg Laundry Detergent Bottle / Milk Bottle / juice bottle. What goes inside the bottle? Anything that doesn’t break down naturally in the environment. -chip packets / glad wrap / zip lock bags / straws / muesli bar wrappers / alfoil, plastic cutlery. anything that fits and much more. Example -I even have one (shampoo / body wash. mouthwash bottle) open in my bathroom for dental floss, ear buds etc. You will be surprised to see how little goes into you rubbish bin. I would be so excited to get any feedback and word of families who impliment this at home. If you like the idea please pass it on to evryone you can. thanks Veronica (Art Teacher)
01.01.2022 Happy International Dance Day! Wherever you are in the Territory, find some time today to share your happiness and bust a move
