22.01.2022 On the batchys this week we have two Ethiopian coffees from the same region but very different process methods with one natural and one washed. The Aricha Pink Natural having fairy floss and raspberry and the Aricha white washed tasting like apricot and peach. Put those taste buds to the test.

21.01.2022 Lachie's the guy that makes us all feel just a tad insecure.... He's not only the pretty one, but he also excels at everything he puts his hand to! A little about our boy Lachie: 1. How long have you been in specialty coffee?... I've been a barista for four years and have started transitioning to the roastery. It's awesome to see both ends of the process. It's cool serving a cup to a customer that I've both roasted and brewed. 2. What is your favourite way to drink coffee? Definitely Batch Brew. It's clean, simple and delicious. 3. What are your coffee goals? To win Gold with my own roast at Golden Bean! Even better if I do it before Matt does... 4. What's your favourite ever Academy Coffee? The Ethiopian Diamond CM from 2019. 5. What do you do when you're not on the tools or dreaming of a podium finish? Football and games when I have the time. When I'm not working most of my time is taken up by studying for my Medical Science degree. 6. What's your favourite movie and album? The Green Mile or The Shawshank Redemption. My favourite album is 'A Different Shade of Blue' by Knocked Loose. Sadly, no one else here at work shares the love for it.

13.01.2022 A little about our fearless leader: 1. How long have you been in specialty coffee? I started in hospitality when I was 16 as a dishy and progressed from the dishes to complete an apprenticeship as a chef. Played around with coffee machines until 2005 when my official coffee journey started.... 2. What is your favourite way to drink coffee? It depends on the day really. I'm loving plunger at the moment, especially with a super light roast. Plunger often gets overlooked but I think it's time for a french press revolution... 3. What are your coffee goals? That Lachie wins gold in Golden Bean. 4. What's your favourite ever Academy Coffee? It has been a privilege to roast some of the world's best coffees over the years. The beans that stay in my memory are the ones with the strongest story. People & Origins are just as important as the indulgence of a delicious cup. If I have to choose one I'd say Relson Ramirez, Finca Cheli from Honduras. It was our first direct import at my first auction 5. What do you do when you're not thinking about coffee. Love spending time with my better half and my little girl Gertie. Big fan of playing the guitar and since Covid learnt how amazing board games are.... 6. What's your favourite movie and album? Indiana Jones. Raiders of the Lost Ark. Silverchair Freakshow, it was the start of my music loving career.

Kia and I have had the burrow for 1 and a half years .... What do you love most about being a cafe owner? I love most is the people we meet on a regular basis from all different walks of life. I also love having a coffee in my hand whenever I want . What are your hobbies outside of work? I absolutely love golf but it doesn’t love me . Currently what are you listening to, watching and reading. This new Frank Turner and NOFX split album called west coast vs Wessex they cover each other’s songs it’s awesome and watching the nba playoffs does that count. . What’s your favourite type of brew? I love all coffee but I just can’t go past a flat white big Bertha makes it next level. . If anyone is visiting the The burrow what menu item do you recommend? We just started our spring menu we put a falafel dish on the menu with beetroot humus and pearl cous cous salad its been very popular which makes me happy. See more
