23.01.2022 The team at BreastScreen Victoria created Rainbow Rose to offer dedicated screening sessions for the LGBTI community. Members of the LGBTI community can face unique barriers when it comes to screening and are an under-screened group. Rainbow Rose sessions create a space where the community can feel safe and supported, and where people can get together with a friend or a group of friends to screen. Sessions are available to LGBTI people between the high-risk ages of 50-74.... *Screening takes 10 minutes, is free, conducted by a woman, and you do not need a GP’s referral or Medicare card. BreastScreen Victoria is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible service to all eligible Victorians. Date: The first session is on Thursday 25 February (Next sessions are held on May, August, and November TBA). That’s why more than 25,000 people have signed the joint South Australian Rainbow Advocacy Alliance Inc and Equality Australia petition this week asking for the removal of the defence, and for stronger laws to protect victims of hate crime.
