25.01.2022 Acheiving big outcomes in Lithgow !!! Training continues to go well at our Lithgow Laundry with some Supported Employees achieving competency in accredited units such as Work Safely and Set Assembly Stations. With our workplace based training, employees are able to apply what they learnt in the classroom directly in the workplace. This is a successful training method that has worked well across our other sites in Sydney and Newcastle. ... Well done to our employees at Lithgow - keep up the fantastic work, we look forward to more updates.

18.01.2022 Increased motivation, job satisfaction, effective communication, skill development these are just some of the benefits of workplace training. Access is committed to providing training and support to employees. Recently, some employees at our Lithgow site commenced a Certificate 3 in Process Manufacturing. Access employees attend work as usual, undertake some classroom led training and then on-the-job training it is here where they get to use knowledge learnt in the class...room and practice workplace skills. It is a supportive, fun and effective way to learn. Employees get to learn in their work environment where they feel comfortable and supported and develop effective workplace relationships with their co-workers who are also undertaking the course. Our trainers have many years of experience delivering this course to people with disabilities, we have also engaged a Language Literacy and Numeracy Support Specialist to further support our employees with disabilities. We believe this learning structure and support will help our employees achieve their workplace training goals. Look out for updates as our Lithgow employees progress through their training!!!

18.01.2022 Access is Covid-19 Safe!! Our employees are working together to keep each other safe by social distancing and wearing masks - some of our employees are even making masks for their colleagues. Do you have any Covid-19 Safe photos to share?

17.01.2022 Access is looking forward to being involved in the expo and 'çhatting' students from local schools. Thanks Future Choices Virtual Transition Expo for Students with Disability

15.01.2022 Happy retirement Michael!! Access Industries in Newcastle have farewelled a wonderful employee Michael Manning. Michael started working with Access on 21st January 1974 in the timber department, this was his first job out of school, and we were fortunate enough to have him as an employee until September this year when he decided to retire.... During Michael’s employment with Access he made many lifelong friends, learnt valuable skills and saw many changes in the industry. Michael was farewelled with a lunch on his last day of work where he reminisced on his experiences at Access with his mates and staff. To celebrate Michaels 46 years and 8 months service, he was presented with an engraved gift. Michael will be missed by everyone at Access, we wish him health and happiness in his retirement. Time to kick back, relax and enjoy Michael!

15.01.2022 Access is fortunate to have many skilled and talented employees. Access encourages and celebrates skills and attitudes that are not just work related but skills that are achieved outside of work. Greg Sindel, who has been working with Access for 5 years, is a very talented and published artist. Greg has published 8 books already and is currently working on his 9th animated book, an adaption of Robert Louis Stevenson’s, Treasure Island. Greg’s co-workers enjoy seeing h...is art and reading his stories during their breaks, with some fortunate co-workers receiving handmade birthday and Christmas cards! In another accomplishment for Greg, he has been invited to participate in an instructional video series for artists with an intellectual disability this gives Greg an opportunity to show others how he creates his comics, inspiring them to tap into their own creativity. Well done Greg keep up the creativity, we all look forward to seeing and reading more of your work.

14.01.2022 If you build it Check out this new shelving unit that was custom built by two of our Supported Employees, Brad and Aaron in Lithgow. Taking learnings from two units of the Process Manufacturing course, Build Assembly Stations and Work Safely, Brad and Aaron saw a need to re-arrange the laundry storage area. By building this amazing shelving unit, employees can now access the linen safer and quicker than before which will help improve efficiencies across the laundry.... As all good workman do, Brad and Aaron dated and signed their work. Great work Brad and Aaron cannot wait to see what else you do!!!

13.01.2022 Successful work experience turning into a job!! Robbie started work experience with Access Newcastle in 2017 and commenced employment with us in January 2018. During this time Robbie has developed many skills in our packaging department and has formed great friendships with his co-workers. However, life is not all about work for Robbie, in his spare time Robbie can be found trampolining, dancing and swimming. Weekends are often spent at the family caravan at Stockton with hi...s parents, brothers, grandparents and many friends. Robbie celebrated his 21st birthday this year with a family road trip to the South Coast of NSW and a wonderful party at home - COVID style!! Robbie is a valued employee of Access Industries, thansk for all your hard work. Keep being you Robbie!!!!

08.01.2022 Employees often work together to get ‘the job done’ but it is important to remember that working as a team includes looking out for each other. A simple R U OK? is a great conversation starter if you notice someone seems out of sorts the conversation could change lives. R U OK Day
