24.01.2022 Meet Bebe Mara, a proud Murri and Torres Strait Islander woman from Far North Queensland with connections to Moa, Boigu, Murray and Darnley Island. S...he is a superstar team member at five-star luxury hotel, Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour and works within the Atelier Restaurant as a Host. Bebe gives us a little insight into her work experiences during hotel quarantine and COVID. It was really hard not being able to work for almost 2 months due to the hotel closing, but I was in constant contact with the team, and keep up to date with what was happening with my job and the hotel. The hotel has now reopened, and since then has undergone some changes during breakfast service, where everything is now A La Carte. I am always learning everyday on the job on how to be better host, learning about the new restrictions and being across the health guidelines like ALLSafe within the hotel which is very interesting. A main highlight for me has been how much fun I have being a host, meeting new people everyday and just being back at the hotel with my work family. Also learning how to be a host doing A La Carte menu isn’t as easy as it looks, but it’s definitely a lot more fun. #Accor #Indigenous #Hospitality #Success #Deadly #TorresStrait

21.01.2022 Indigenous Business Month ends this week, and we’re still shining a light on Indigenous businesses we’ve worked with. Holistic Leadership delivers mindfuln...ess-based creative leadership workshops and programs that are designed to inspire and empower women to live more wholly and purposefully. Founded in 2018 by Victoria Morganson, a proud Warrungnu Nywaigi woman, female entrepreneur and holistic leadership coach. Victoria shares the inspiration behind Holistic Leadership, I think the more we bring all of who we are to the table, the better we serve not only ourselves but others too. Over the course of my journey I found that the more I grew as a person it shifted how I saw myself and behaved as a leader. I then took the creative tools that helped with developing my social and emotional intelligence and various other soft skills and turned it into programs and workshops. In March 2020, five emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander female leaders from Accor had the opportunity to participate in one of Holistic Leadership’s personal growth course which has seen them flourish within their personal and professional life. 19.01.2022 Although it’s been a difficult time for most, it’s stories like Charlie’s that inspire us to keep moving forward and working towards our dreams! Introduc...ing Charlie MacNaughton, a proud Biripi woman from Taree who currently works at The William Inglis Hotel as a Guest Service Agent. From never stepping foot in a hotel to now working at The William Inglis Hotel for over two years now is incredible. I started as a Porter through the Indigenous Careers Program and now I work as a Guest Service Agent part-time. So many opportunities have been created from this. Last November, I was successful in the Accor Future Leaders Program. Now I will be working and studying full-time for the next two years and by the end of it, will obtain a Certificate IV in Business Management which will open more doors for me. Working at Accor has made me feel a part of one big family and made me feel so comfortable while training and learning. I never saw myself having such a successful future but my hotel believed in me and I’m now entering my Future Leaders course and I’m so excited to see what my future holds with Accor. 03.01.2022 Today is Mabo Day, the anniversary of the historic Mabo decision.

02.01.2022 Check out how we've celebrated NRW!

02.01.2022 This week would have been the start of NAIDOC Week 2020 it definitely hits different that we will not be celebrating as normal. Although it has reminded u...s that we don’t need just ‘one week’ to recognise our First Nations Peoples. We must continue to connect, contribute and celebrate the rich and diverse culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples not only for one day, or one week but every single day. Everyone at Accor, and especially the Indigenous Programs Team look forward to celebrating NAIDOC Week bigger & better in November. : Wayne Quilliam Photography. Thank you for always gracing us with your talent and sharing culture through a lens! Stay safe you mob #naidocweek2020 #naidocweek #culture #celebration #deadly #Indigenous #Aboriginal
