25.01.2022 A beautiful morning on Sydney Harbour to spread a very serious message... Sadly, five people have lost their lives on NSW waters since the start of July. None of them were wearing a lifejacket. That’s why from this weekend, we’ll be cracking down on boat safety breaches to help save lives on the water.

25.01.2022 Built in the Hunter Valley, then moved piece-by-piece to Central... Yesterday we got a first look at the new feature roof taking shape over Central Station as part of Sydney Metro construction. Once complete, Central’s concourse will mirror some of the great stations around the world, like Kings Cross and St Pancras in London, and New York’s Central Station.

24.01.2022 Great to share a laugh with Trei and Chris this morning... Trei’s in the process of securing his driver’s licence through a NSW Government program (supported by wonderful volunteers like Chris) that’s helping thousands of disadvantaged community members gain access to safe and legal driving. Tune in to ABC News tonight for the full story!

21.01.2022 Today was an important day for the entire community with the introduction of the Four Angels Law. The Four Angels Law introduces new, harsher penalties for combined drink and drug driving offences. It’s named in honour of Antony, Angelina & Sienna Abdallah and Veronique Sakr - who were tragically killed last year by a driver who was three times the legal alcohol limit and under the influence of drugs.... Research has shown that you are 23 times more likely to crash while driving under the influence of both alcohol and drugs. This new law sends a clear message to the community that this high-risk behaviour will not be tolerated. It’s designed to act as a greater deterrence to drivers, so that we don’t have to see families like the Abdallahs and Sakrs experience such tragedy. I was incredibly grateful to have the children’s mothers, Leila Abdallah and Bridget Sakr in Parliament today. Both families have touched the entire nation through the strength, dignity and compassion they’ve shown in the wake of such tragedy. Antony, Angelina, & Sienna and Veronique - this bill will be forever known in your honour. Rest easy, The Four Angels

21.01.2022 Who's the most remarkable woman in your life? She might be a role model for younger women, a pioneer in her field, or an unsung hero who's worked with quiet dedication for her community for many years. Give her the recognition she deserves - nominate her now for the 2021 NSW Women of the Year Awards.... https://facs.smartygrants.com.au/WOTYA2021

21.01.2022 Construction is now officially under way on Batemans Bay’s new aquatic, arts & leisure centre at Mackay Park! To soon have a year-round indoor swimming facility which caters for everyone, from kids, to seniors, swimmers and people with a disability - plus new gym, arts and cultural facilities - is incredibly exciting for our community. Not only that, but its construction will provide a boost to local jobs at a time when we need them most.

21.01.2022 Construction on the Sydney Metro West is now officially under way! Metro West will link Parramatta to the CBD in around 20 minutes, easing pressure on the existing rail network and taking thousands of cars off the road each day. A city-shaping project that will create tens of thousands of jobs and transform Greater Sydney for generations to come.

20.01.2022 Today we announced reforms to NSW road safety laws, including changes to mobile speed cameras and harsher penalties for drivers who are caught drink and drug driving at the same time. A new combined drink/drug driving offence will be known as the Four Angels Law - in honour of Antony, Angelina, & Sienna Abdallah and Veronique Sakr, who were tragically killed by a driver under the influence of drugs and alcohol. I'm very grateful to their parents - Danny & Leila, Bob, Bridget ...and her partner Craig, as well as Peter Frazer from Safer Australian Roads and Highways - SARAH - Group, for joining Regional Roads Minister Paul Toole MP and I for this morning's announcement. For more details on the changes: https://www.transport.nsw.gov.au//major-changes-to-road-sa

20.01.2022 NSW is in the middle of a road and rail boom! Tunnelling has now passed halfway on the ‘missing link’ between the M4 and M5 motorways, which once complete, will save motorists 40 minutes between Parramatta & Sydney Airport More than 6,800 workers have been involved in the project so far Great news for NSW jobs at a time when we need them the most.

19.01.2022 Last week I had the absolute honour of presenting Veronica Abbott with a Premier's Community Service Award. Veronica, along with her husband Warren, set up the Quaama Bushfire Relief Centre and have volunteered their time selflessly. Veronica's been instrumental in ensuring the residents of Quaama and its surrounds were not forgotten and had what they needed following the Black Summer Bushfires - including a shoulder to cry on, and a gentle, listening ear.... As Ellie Newton put so beautifully in the video, Veronica is an incredibly loving and caring person who has helped people in ways she doesn't even realise. Thank you so much for what you've done for the community

19.01.2022 Yesterday in state parliament I tabled The Four Angels Law - which will see tougher new penalties for drivers who drink and take drugs. Here's the story from 7 News last night As I said in parliament yesterday: this is a law for all our children, and for these four angels. Everyone in our community must continue to respect what they stand for and the work of their wonderful families.... You can read my full speech here: https://bit.ly/3rK2W5k

18.01.2022 While the memories of last summer’s bushfires are still very raw in our minds, it’s important we now prepare ourselves & our homes for the upcoming bushfire season. This weekend is ‘Get Ready Weekend’ - local RFS stations across the Eurobodalla and Bega Valley will be holding events (both online and in person) with our wonderful volunteers on hand to answer your questions on how to reduce bushfire risk. For details on local RFS events on the Far South Coast: rfs.nsw.gov.au/getready

18.01.2022 Those who’ve lost a loved one in a car crash know all too well the heartbreak it leaves behind. The theme of this year’s National Road Safety Week is ‘drive so others survive’ reminding us that we all have a shared responsibility on our roads. As we work to reduce the road toll in NSW #TowardsZero, we’re calling on everyone to take the pledge and lead the way - by buckling up, slowing down and ditching the distractions.... Because everyone deserves to get home safely.

We’re going to see an incredible transformation of our state’s busiest transport hub, with the old heritage structure meeting new, modern architecture.

11.01.2022 There’s no doubt that this year has been an especially challenging one for all of us. So today, on R U OK Day, it’s a good reminder to check in with your family, friends and neighbours. No one is immune to struggling or feeling overwhelmed with the ups and downs we’ve been dealt this year.... This year’s message is about familiarising yourself with what to say next if someone tells you No, I’m not OK. You can show genuine intent and help someone access appropriate support long before they’re in crisis. Learn more about what to say next at www.ruok.org.au And if you yourself are struggling, please - reach out and talk to someone.

08.01.2022 Tourism is the lifeblood of our beautiful Far South Coast. We know what a devastating impact the past 18 months has had on small businesses, having lost peak tourism traffic for the past two summers now. That’s why the NSW Government has announced $3.5 million in funding to help tourism-related businesses get back on their feet.... More visitors means greater benefits for our local visitor economy and local community, so I’d encourage all business owners to consider how this Destination NSW program could enhance their offering. 07.01.2022 A good news story to end the week When our Sydney Trains team came across Golden Bamboo (considered a pest) along the rail corridor at Warrawee, a well-devised plan has seen the weed turned into feed for some very cute recipients at Taronga Zoo Sydney.

06.01.2022 Our new Batemans Bay Bridge is really taking shape! : John Holland

06.01.2022 Very well deserved!

06.01.2022 We’re turning rubbish into roads A fantastic initiative by the NSW Government - expanding the use of recycled glass to help make asphalt for our roads reducing the amount of waste going into landfill. Matt Kean MP

05.01.2022 Remember to remember... They paid the ultimate sacrifice then, so that we can live in the freedom we enjoy today. At the 11th hour, of the 11th day of the 11th month - we pause to reflect and to remember them. #LestWeForget ... #remembranceday2020

05.01.2022 Major works are now underway on the Memorial Avenue upgrade Yesterday David Elliott and I turned the first sod to mark the start of construction - widening Memorial Avenue to a four lane, divided road with shared pedestrian and cyclist paths This much-needed upgrade will improve congestion, safety and travel times for the 30,000 drivers who use the road each day.... It’ll also help people better connect with the Sydney Metro stations at Kellyville and Bella Vista.

05.01.2022 The final checks are being completed on the new NorthConnex tunnels, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone more excited for opening day than Josh, Chloe, Tara and Zali. With 5,000 trucks a day set to be removed from Pennant Hills Road once the tunnels open, the West Pennant Hills Public School students say they and their classmates are looking forward to being able to or to school safely... ...not to mention a huge improvement on the noise!

05.01.2022 The first of 17 brand new Waratah trains is here! Great to take a ride aboard this new ‘B set’ before it enters service tomorrow on the Sydney Trains network - 3 months ahead of schedule.

02.01.2022 While so many across the Far South Coast stood up and supported their communities following the Black Summer bushfires, Angela Kane simply went to another level. Ange was instrumental in ensuring our local farms had access to stock feed after the fire in the Cobargo area and its surrounds. The Cobargo and District Hay relief fund raised in excess of $100,000 to purchase feed, which was all donated to local farmers under Ange’s co-ordination.... On Friday, I had the great joy of presenting Ange with a Community Service award on behalf of the NSW Premier. Thanks also to Tony Allen for helping me recognise Ange’s phenomenal efforts.
