12.01.2022 LAUNCH OF SAFETY VIDEOS As part of National Safe Work Month, ACT Work Safety Commissioner, Greg Jones, launched a series of safety videos featuring local construction workers talking about ways to reduce risk on worksites. Using the theme Think Safe. Work Safe. Go Home Safe, the videos focus on the importance of always following safe work practices on construction sites. They are intended for use in apprenticeship training, ‘toolbox talks’, registered training courses and on...site safety briefings. As Work Safety Commissioner I get to hear about, and sometimes witness firsthand, the unfortunate consequences of workplace safety incidents and the devastating effects they can have on family, friends and workmates, Mr Jones said. To help reduce incidents and injuries, a priority for me as Commissioner is to work closely with key industry players to strengthen health and safety training and improve safety at work. The development of these videos was only made possible with the cooperation of unions, industry associations and individual worksites. By using local tradies to drive home key safety messages, our aim is to make the videos more relevant for the ACT construction industry, Mr Jones concluded. Developed by Access Canberra in partnership with Safe Work Australia, the Housing Industry Association, Master Builders Association, UnionsACT, Training Fund Authority and the Construction Industry Training Council, the videos are available for your use go to www.act.gov.au/safetyvideos. Please encourage others to view these videos. https://vimeo.com/184817134 - Slips, trips and Falls https://vimeo.com/184816912 - Tools and appliances https://vimeo.com/184816336 - Scaffolding safety https://vimeo.com/184614159 - Crane safety https://vimeo.com/184613653 - Drugs and Alcohol
