Our one-day school holiday SCREEN ACTING workshop for 9 -12 yr olds in Freo is already SOLD OUT, so we've added another on TUESDA...Y 19 JANUARY at the wonderful Paper Bird Children's Books and Arts, upstairs gallery space on Henry St. Find out more at https://filmbites.com.au/holiday-workshops/ Your instructor is the wonderfully talented and experienced instructor Hermione Gehle: Hermione started acting as a child and after graduating from the Actors College of Theatre and Television in 1999, continued to work as an actor in Sydney and America on stage, television and film for the following ten years. Hermione has taught acting skills to children since 1994 and then teens and young adults in Sydney from 2001. Upon returning to WA, Hermione graduated from a Bachelor of Arts degree in Performing Arts in 2011 before embarking on a Masters by Research degree in Performing Arts, Directing Stream at WAAPA in 2012. Hermione assistant directed several productions and directed four of her own productions at WAAPA, including a short film with the Screen Academy. Her first contribution to Perth’s Fringe Festival in 2015 was nominated for the Artrage Theatre Award. Come and experience The Filmbites Way!

Designed for our veteran students who know their way around the theatre, this program will equip them with professional performance skills. Over the course of one year, we focus on learning advanced acting practices and mastering physical theatre and vocal techniques. Then, well put this learning into action, as we interpret contemporary and classic texts and devise original performance work. This program is perfect for young people who are eager to apply for prestigious schools like WAAPA, NIDA or VCA. Our carefully curated curriculum is designed to prime our students for further study and work in theatre and give them the space and tools to creatively collaborate with a tight-knit, ultra-focused cohort. 11.01.2022 Our ADVANCED PERFORMANCE GROUP is the next step after our BREAKTHROUGH Intermediate classes. It is an application-only group for experienced students (12-15 yea...rs) who want to be part of a focused ensemble. Building on their skills in characterisation, improvisation and theatre processes, students put these into practice in a more advanced performance environment. Theres a big focus on creative collaboration, as they share their ideas with the group and devise works that rely on a strong ensemble cast. We also dive deep into storytelling - what it is, why it works and how it works. By learning about contemporary theatre practices and performance techniques, our students are able to elevate their storytelling and tailor it to the stage.
