Here they enjoyed playing in the natural environment, exploring and interacting with new friends. Thank you Active Kids Logan for sharing your beautiful playground with us.

14.01.2022 The Benefits of Active Kids ELC Bush Kindy Increased confidence, motivation, concentration, resilience and problem-solving skills Deeper understanding of and respect for the natural environment Further development of their five senses; sensory development supports all other areas of early childhood development Increased physical activity, gross motor development and coordination... Improved overall health and wellbeing Deeper understanding of their sense of self and how they contribute to their community as active participants in programs (e.g. clean up Australia day) They will learn to take calculated risks and be supported to challenge themselves and their abilities. Taking risks is imperative to the development of a child’s self-esteem and confidence in the early years. They will become more resistant to stress, leading to potentially lower incidences of behavioral struggles and learn to manage their stress, anxiety and fears. They will be encouraged to connect; To the earth; To their world; To each other. They will learn to be creative and initiate play concepts with their peers. They will learn to meditate, embrace calm and practice mindfulness. Most importantlyChildren will have FUN! They will have the opportunity to explore mud, sand, sticks, rocks, water, animals, insects and weather; all of the glorious things our natural environment has to offer will be at their fingertips! 12.01.2022 New Child Care Subsidy - Are you ready? Over the coming weeks the Government will be contacting you in regards to completing the activity test via the My Gov website. This activity test is one of the three factors that will determine the level of Childcare Subsidy (CCS) your family is entitled to come into effect July 2, 2018. It is very important that you are ready and complete the activity test, as the total amount of subsidised care your family is entitled to will depend ...on the hours of activity you complete each fortnight. Casual workers will be requested to work out an average over 3 months. In two parent families, both parents (unless exempt), must meet the activity test. In the case where both parents meet the activity test, the parent with the lowest work hours will be used to determining the hours of subsidised care for the child. WHEN DETERMINING YOUR ACTIVITY TEST HOURS, YOU NEED TO ENSURE YOU INCLUDE ANY TRAVEL TIME AND LUNCH BREAKS. For example if you work 28 hours per week over 4 days and have an hour lunch break plus an hour travel to and from work (from the centre to work and back) then your activity test hours would be 36 hours. A broad range of activity will meet the activity test requirements, including: paid work, volunteer work and study. Recognised activities can be combined to determine the maximum number of hours of subsidy. How can you prepare for the activity test? Please ensure you have a registered MyGov account, as you will not be able to complete the activity test without one. If you do not have an account, click here to register: https://my.gov.au/LoginServices/main/login?execution=e2s1 Once you have logged in to your MyGov account, please ensure it is linked to Centrelink. 04.01.2022 Welcome to Kindergarten at Active Kids, Mt Gravatt East. Throughout the year in Kindergarten, the children are encouraged to explore, discover, ask questions, problem solve, challenge their thinking, and build their social and emotional skills as they prepare for School. Loris Malaguzzi quoted Learning and teaching should not stand on opposite banks and just watch the river flow by; instead, they should embark together on a journey down the water. Through an active, reciproc...al exchange, teaching can strengthen learning how to learn. We encourage the children to freely discover and make meaning as they play, as well as providing the scaffolding and challenges to encourage them to continue to discover the possibilities that are endless to them as they learn. My name is Kimberley, and I am the Early Childhood Teacher who runs the Kindergarten Program. I have more than 12 years’ experience teaching Kindergarten and believe that children are confident and capable learners as they discover the world around them. Through scaffolding and encouragement, children can reach for the clouds as they discover their own potential. Our year is an exciting year that builds on all areas of development. Each child is valued as an individual and develop at a different rate. We encourage children to express themselves, make discoveries, solve problems, and interact with the environment and each other. Children are then able to build the confidence and skills to demonstrate their abilities to make meaning of the world around them.
04.01.2022 A fun time was had by all in our Junior Kindy room today at the play dough table. Play dough strengthens fine motor skills - squishing, rolling, pounding, sculpting and flattening the play dough, they are strengthening their fine motor skills- which will help them succeed in school tasks such as writing and cutting.
