24.01.2022 We had a lovely morning exploring the new items in our restaurant and served lots of delicious food to our friends. We explored 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff' and 'The Gruffalo' small world area and retold the stories in our own words.

24.01.2022 **JUST IN** Our Kindy and Pre Kindy friends are having a wonderful day today. Here at Active Pathways we enjoy giving the children opportunities to help develop their practical life skills, such as spreading condiments, setting their own placement at the table, self selecting foods that interest them, pouring their own milk and even washing their dishes once they are finished. This morning we had lovely in-house baked scones which we used to practise spreading our jam and cr...eam onto. YUM! After morning tea, the room was ready for plenty of learning and exploring. Quote: " The expert was once a beginner".

22.01.2022 Today in Lullaby Lane we focused on two key learning activities, sensory and counting. We sang, counted and played in the pond with our Five Little Ducks. We played and explored with the magnetic sand using our fingers and hands. We built sand castles using equipment and identified the colours of our magnetic sand.

21.01.2022 Wednesday's adventures at Active Pathways We read about the adventures of The Bad-Tempered Ladybird, laughed at The Wide-Mouthed Frog story, and were fascinated watching a video about bees, pollination and honey. We enjoyed creating some spiders with the collage materials, drawing and painting some caterpillars, and making insect fossil prints with the playdough.... Evie did a great job reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar story to her friends.

21.01.2022 The children planted flowers in our garden today and we talked about the beautiful, colourful season of Spring and celebrating The Carnival of Flowers. The children are responsible for watering our herbs and our flower garden each day. This encourages them to care for their world and builds on their interest in nature.

20.01.2022 So much has happened at Active Pathways this week. We enjoyed dot painting using Indigenous colours which then extended to hand print painting. The Lullaby Lane children were interested in cutting and holding scissors. Adventure Island and Lullaby Lane children experienced baking, working as a team to create yummy jam drops. Exciting adventures and experiences are always happening at Active Pathways. It's a wonderful place to be.

16.01.2022 National Children's Day 4th August 2020 Today the children celebrated National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day (Children's Day). 'Children's Day' occurs on 4th August and celebrates the culture of children across Australia.... We celebrated with a campfire (in a firepit) where we got to roast marshmallows. We also explored original Indigenous items such as a didgeridoo and a boomerang. We watched a wonderful video of an Indigenous man playing the didgeridoo and wondered how he made the sound without running out of breath. We spent the rest of the morning exploring Indigenous culture with different types of painting. We looked at the dot work on the didgeridoo and tried to create our own dot work creations, using the traditional colours from our three flags - the Australian flag the Aboriginal flag and the Torres Strait Islander flag. After such an event-filled morning, we had a picnic lunch in the playground with a sausage sizzle and damper with jam. It was yummy.

13.01.2022 Active Pathways News! Quite a few children enjoyed writing letters using stamps and their developing pre-writing skills. We also enjoyed building our strength, spatial awareness and co-ordination as we had fun dancing, and doing Yoga. Making friendships was also a highlight today. The children shared their excitement as they discovered they had a lot of interests in common.

12.01.2022 Active Pathways News Flash! Our sensory table was a huge hit with the children today as they discovered insects and reptiles hidden amongst the rice. The children studied the insects using the magnifying glasses, this enabled them to look closely and count the number of legs each one had. The children decided that the sensory table also had a lot of great places for the different insects and reptiles to live. ... They also practised their fine motor skills using scissors to cut out different shapes, patterns and numbers.

12.01.2022 Today at Active Pathways What began as a game of hide and seek with the boxes, soon turned into a crazy fun game of hungry caterpillar. The children spotted Miss Tamika hiding in the caterpillar tunnel and decided that she looked like the caterpillar from the Very Hungry Caterpillar story. The children took turns being 'eaten' by the caterpillar as they hid in the tunnel with Tamika. The hungry caterpillar ate five children! As we watched a hungry caterpillar song afterwards the children came up with an idea. They decided that we need to make a cocoon for the Miss Tamika caterpillar so that she can turn into a butterfly. Making a giant cocoon and some butterfly wings will be our next adventure.

11.01.2022 Active Pathways News This week in Lullaby Lane the activity was to glue and stick fabrics to the paper. Using their fine motor skills they learnt how to paste the glue onto the paper then place all different types of fabric onto the paper. Some fabrics were softer than others, this was a wonderful sensory experience.

10.01.2022 This week in Lullaby Lane we focused on our fine motor skills. Our aim was to place the pom-poms in and out of whisk. The children thought this activity was so much fun, they shook the whisks and pom-poms went flying. There were so many laughs. Today all our friends enjoyed dancing together before some discovered a new alphabet puzzle. The alphabet puzzle featured the beautiful illustrations from the Eric Carle books. The children worked beautifully together as they put the alphabet puzzle together, taking turns to find each piece and join it on. Every so often they would stop and sing the alphabet song with Miss Karina, as they worked out which letter came next.

08.01.2022 Educators at Active Pathways are always looking for ways to expose the children to a variety of experiences each week and due to covid-19 we have decided to bring extra curriculum activities into the centre. This week we have participated in "Making Rainbows," music sessions, Gingersports Soccer fun and enjoyed a visit from QLD Ballet. We have also had a lot of fun dressing up as Superheroes each day.

07.01.2022 We are so lucky to have such a beautiful outdoor area to explore and play. With Spring on the way, we have been making the most of the beautiful sunny weather and spending a lot of time outside. This week we played some wonderful games with the children, including 'What's the time Mister Wolf', 'Red Rover', and 'Duck, duck, goose'. We also played different parachute games and encouraged each child to come up with their own instructions for the rest of the group, such as 'Put ...your head on green and your feet on red'. It was really tricky but we had such fun. Outdoor activities such as these are so beneficial for gross motor development. They also encourage turn taking and help build resilience, which are important components in the development of social and emotional skills. We are looking forward to celebrating the start of Spring next week and enjoying more wonderful weather and exciting outdoor games.

07.01.2022 **Our New Management Team!** Every Friday morning we open the siding door in the office that leads to our beautiful outdoor area. The children eagerly await for the door to slide open as they love sitting on the carpet in the sun reading books and playing with the dinosaur figurines that is set up.... We had two little explorer's on this particular Friday, who wanted to see what it was like to sit in the Directors chair. New notes were added to the diary and even reports were typed up on the computer. A solid mornings work. Have a lovely weekend to all our families. See you all next week. Regards, Active Pathways Team.

05.01.2022 *Teddy Bear's Picnic* What a fun packed morning we had today as we welcomed our mums, dads and grandma's to our Teddy Bears Picnic. Although the weather was a little on the damp side, it didn't stop our fun filled activities. ... From spray bottle painting to badminton, to decorating bears and of course a SPECIAL MORNING TEA! 03.01.2022 Whats planned for Spring at Active Pathways.. We have been planting and harvesting carrots, constructing a bird feeder, adding fish to our pond and enjoying soccer with Mr Ben. Ms Vanessa made a Lava pit in the sandpit. Its proving to be a very challenging obstacle course for all ages.

02.01.2022 Dear Families, As of the week beginning 17th August, Wendy and Ann will be visiting Active Pathways once a week for one hour. This is planned for every Tuesday, but depending on the week, this may vary. Wendy is a mature aged lady who loves to be in the company of young children; watching them play; dance; sing and participate in art activities. Wendy is in a wheelchair and will have her carer Ann, beside her the whole time. Ann has informed us that Wendy enjoys ge...tting out of her chair and sitting down on a mat at the children’s level, engaging in activities and the environment around her. Not only is this a wonderful experience and adventure for Wendy to do each week, but for our children also. Exposing children to diversity at a young age helps develop their empathy and understanding for others. The children will be introduced to Wendy and Ann through photos this week, allowing the children to ask any questions they might have regarding our new visitors. We plan on making a "welcome pack" for Wendy and Ann, filled with paintings and letters for them to take home on their first day with us. You never know... maybe we could bake a cake for them too! We look forward to welcoming Wendy and Ann each week. Warm wishes, Active Pathways Team

02.01.2022 TODAY WE LEARNT THE LETTER "T" Miss Karina holds a beautiful lesson on the letter "T". What is most wonderful about this lesson is that, it opens up so many wonderful discussions about what the children are seeing and how they all interpret the footage.

01.01.2022 Henny Penny Hatching arrived at Active Pathways this week. All the children have enjoyed spending time watching the chicks and the eggs hatch . We have had conversations about how to use our gentle hands when touching the chicks.
