24.01.2022 Dear Active Women I hope you are enjoying some quiet time at home and keeping your spirits up one way or another. In the spirit of physically isolate while we socially connect (Professor Ian Hickie), Kristin, Lisa and I have been nutting out how to move our Balgowlah meetings online using Zoom, like many support groups across the country are doing. So firstly, please put 7-9pm, Monday April 20 in your diaries. You do not need an account to join the meeting, as Kristin has o...ne and will host us. Kristen will be our host and Maureen will still facilitate meetings as before, Lisa will be in the background answering technical questions and helping you get online. To join the meeting, you can use your laptop, iPad or mobile phone, though for the latter two you would need to download the Zoom app. Our first meeting will be a trial run. Here we are (not very flattering!) holding our trial meeting last Friday, so you can see what your screen may look like. We have prepared a set of instructions explaining how it would work to help you through it. If it works well, we can then invite guest speakers to join our meetings too. The next few months will be socially isolating for many of us, so hopefully Zoom will be a way for us to all stay in touch and support each other. Feedback is welcome. BTW if anyone in the group has Zoom expertise, please let us know, as you could contribute to the hosting. Warm regards Maureen, Kristin and Lisa

18.01.2022 Christmas Party 2019. Thank you to Jane for all the lovely photos

17.01.2022 Hello again Active Women Yes, it’s that time of month and Kristin has kindly prepared your invitation with the necessary details for our upcoming Zoom meeting next Monday, 18 May. We had a really good catch up last month so hope to see lots of you on Monday night. Our guest speaker is Julia Lever, Solicitor & Elder Law Advocate. Julia will advise us, via Zoom, about wills, advance medical directives, financial powers of attorney and associated matters. Julia presented to us ...in 2009 and also in 2016. She was very informative, making what could be quite a dry subject interesting and entertaining! The topic of her talk, How to get our affairs in order before we lose our marbles, demonstrates Julia’s motto: If it’s not fun, I’m not doing it! You are invited to our monthly Active Women Support Group meeting, by Zoom again, for the second time! Maureen will be Group Leader as usual, but Kristin is the meeting host (as she has a Zoom account!) and Lisa will be co-hosting (she also has a Zoom account!). Topic: Active Women Touched by Cancer Support Group Time: May 18, 2020 7:00 PM Then: Every month on the Third Monday Jun 15, 2020 07:00 PM Jul 20, 2020 07:00 PM Join Zoom Meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87987863848 Meeting ID: 879 8786 3848 Password: Together

17.01.2022 Hello everyone Winter has arrived but we can warm the cockles of each other’s hearts by connecting up at next Monday’s Zoom meeting! We had a really good catch up last month, with much wisdom from our guest speaker, Julia Lever, and I hope some of you have accepted her kind offer of free preparation of your wills and associated documents. This month we are lucky to have Jessica Collings, Exercise Physiologist at Rebound Health, to chat with us. She’ll tell about the cancer an...d exercise link, inform us of the telehealth services her workplace offers and then lead us in some simple, at-home exercises. What’s not to like on these rainy old days? Kristin has kindly prepared your invitation with the necessary details, so check them out below. Hope to see lots of you on Monday night. Kind regards Maureen Here is Kristin’s invitation: Ladies! You are invited to our monthly Active Women Support Group meeting, by Zoom again, for the third time! Maureen will be Group Leader as usual, but Kristin is the meeting host (as she has a Zoom account!) and Lisa will be co-hosting (she also has a Zoom account!). Topic: Active Women Touched by Cancer Support Group Time: June 15, 2020 07:00 PM Then: Every month on the Third Monday July 20, 2020 07:00 PM August 20, 2020 07:00 PM Join Zoom Meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87987863848 Meeting ID: 879 8786 3848 Password: Together

16.01.2022 Come join us next Monday, 17th August, via Zoom. We are fortunate to have Caitlin Vasica, a guest speaker from the Cancer Council, for our August 17 Zoom. Caitlin will share with us up-to-date information about the programs and services offered by the Cancer Council, and changes to these due to COVID19. RSVP Maureen on 0413 983 358

13.01.2022 This month’s guest speaker is Anna Petinsky, Somatic Psychotherapist, who will lead us in a conversation about how things are, four months into a fairly isolated life. Anna will have some questions to guide the conversation, and her focus will be on connection. https://northernbeachespsychotherapy.com.au/ Also, we are pondering whether to resume our coffee catch-ups on the first Friday of each month at Gusto, meaning Friday 7th August would be our next opportunity. They seem to have social distancing under control there and I’m happy to host the catch-ups if people are interested, so please have a think about whether you’d like to come along. RSVP Maureen for more details, 0413 983 358

13.01.2022 We're very happy to invite you to our first Active Women face-to-face monthly meeting since February! Due to the kindness of Beatrice Rankin, our October guest speaker, we are able to meet at her Hemp Gallery Australia showroom next Monday, 19th October, at 7pm, and connect up again as a group. Thank you to those ten or so women who have answered yes to my earlier invitation. That allowed me to confirm with Beatrice and make arrangements for the evening. We will also Zoom th...e meeting for anyone who’d like to join us that way, contact Maureen for the details. The address of Hemp Gallery Australia’s showroom is 11a, number 16 Aquatic Drive, Frenchs Forest. It is located just past the turn into the Aquatic Centre, if you are coming up Allambie Rd. Go right into Tilley Lane (look for the large 16) and it’s the second driveway on the right. Drive up the ramp, turn right where you will find plenty of parking. Social distancing will be observed, a hand sanitising station provided, and please wear a mask if you so desire. (Lisa informs me that Beatrice sells hemp masks if you forget yours and want to use one.) An excellent website, www.hempgallery.com.au will give you a glimpse of the wide range of wares that Beatrice has on display. I was very surprised! On the night, Beatrice will talk about her story as a cancer patient and how she came to embrace the healing powers of hemp. She will even supply our refreshments to round off the evening. Last of all, please put 16th November in your diaries as we will be holding our Christmas Dinner at Balgowlah RSL, as usual. We’ll discuss the details of that at Monday’s meeting and I’ll send out further details after that. Hope you can come on Monday. Please let me know if you haven’t already done so, which will help with the catering, etc. Kind regards Maureen 0413 983 358
