25.01.2022 After a great weekend of kendo at the Australian Masters Games, members from ANU came to join us at training tonight at AUKC. Thank you to Semmler Sensei, Cunn...ingham Sensei, Boyd Sensei, Wragg Sensei and Michael sempai for training and jikeiko tonight. We learnt so much tonight and over this last weekend. Hope to see you all again soon and please come visit us again! Also thank you for your enthusiasm in joining in on our AUKC pose!

18.01.2022 Congrats to all ANU Kendo Club members on their efforts at the Australian Masters Games in Adelaide. 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 4 Bronze medals across the individual and team competitions. The biggest winner however was Australian Kendo. Special thanks to the South Australian Kendo Association for a great event.



16.01.2022 Nationals Div 1 presented by UniBank is well and truly underway. UQ Sport team captains Tyson and Rebekah welcomed the team captains with UTS Sport and Monash Sport facing off in kendo. Tune in each night at 6pm for daily wrap ups from Div 1.

14.01.2022 2019 UniSport Nationals Div1 Kendo Competition, was held at Somerset College, Gold Coast on Saturday and Sunday, 28 29 September 2019. Overall competition win...ner for both men's and Women's evens was University of Sydney. The announcement was made at the Meet...ing of AKR National Council, held in Sydney on 20 October 2019. 05.01.2022 SPOTLIGHT: Introduction to Kendo The ANU Kendo Club Introduction to Kendo program provides foundational training and understanding of kendo. Over the 6-week co...urse, starting from Tuesday 3 March, participants will be instructed in a group setting by experienced instructors on the basic principles and techniques of Kendo care and use of equipment, such as shinai (bamboo sword) and bogu (protective gear) Dojo etiquette. The program is aimed at complete beginners - no experience with kendo or any other martial art is required. As Kendo is a physical activity, participants are assumed to be of average health and fitness. 04.01.2022 29th Iaido and 20th Australian Seminar and Championships 2020 CANCELLED In light of the most recent announcement by the Prime Minister of Australia regarding ma...ndatory quarantine for international travellers to Australia, and the increasing number of infections of Covid-19 within our national borders, the Australian Iaido Jodo Seminar and Championships (AIJSC) 2020 scheduled for late May have been cancelled. As with the previous announcement regarding the cancellation of the 45th Australian Kendo Championships, the Australian Kendo Renmei’s (AKR) considerations are the same, the health and safety of its members and society at large. Any registration and/or grading monies paid to the AKR by individuals will be fully refunded. Members will be informed of the mechanics and timeline which will be worked out between the AKR and the relevant boards. It is envisaged that the next AIJSC will be held next year again in Queensland in 2021. This is under discussion at present and may change. Members will be informed once a decision is made. The AKR apologises for any inconvenience caused by this decision, but it has been taken with due consideration of the health and safety of its members, their families, friends and close associates. Stay safe.

03.01.2022 Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the upcoming 45th Australian Kendo Championships, Seminar and grading has been cancelled. Australian Kendo Renmei's primary consid...erations are the health, safety and well-being of our members. 100% of the individual registration fees for 45th Australian Kendo Championships will be refunded. The refund will be processed within 2 weeks by the VKR. We apologise for any inconveniences that this decision has caused you however we have obligation to our members and broader society to make every attempt to contain the spread of the infection. The next Australian Kendo Championships - the 45th Australian Kendo Championships in 2021, will be in Melbourne hosted by the VKR.
