20.01.2022 It's Mother's Day on Sunday, and we'd like to give a big properly-sanitised virtual hug to all Mums - particularly those with excitable, theatrical daughters who just want to play dress-ups. Speaking of Natalie and Amy, their two-woman comedy showdown "Love/Hate Actually" makes a great Mother's Day gift. It's just $15, and you can download a digital copy super easily online through www.actreact.com.au.... 19.01.2022 We're so excited to see our friends at BRISBANE POWERHOUSE are switching the lights back on later this month! Queensland Ballet, Circa and Briefs Factory will present works in a Covid-safe, cabaret-style setting in the main theatre. We're going to head along to take in some soul-restoring live performance - and we encourage you to check out the program and see if there's something that grabs you!... #theatre | #liveperformance | #performingarts | #brisbane | #BrisbanePowerhouse | #arts

16.01.2022 Greetings, friends! Back in March we ran a season of "Speed: The Movie, The Play" at BRISBANE POWERHOUSE as part of the 2019 Brisbane Comedy Festival. The season was cut short due to Covid-19, but not before we had three sold-out weeks of shows. ... Regular Act/React patrons will know that we always support the not-for-profits that help us make these crazy shows a reality. We're thrilled that our beautiful Leyland Bus 721 is now going into the shop to be repainted back to her original Brisbane City Council colours. This is made possible by YOU, our passengers, as we donate a portion of ticket sales back to Queensland Omnibus & Coach Society (QOCS) to continue their amazing work preserving our bus heritage. Thanks to you coming out to see the adventures of Keanu, Harry, Dennis et al, we donated $1800 to QOCS for this project. One day, we will ride the bus again! #speedthemovietheplay | #qocs | #bus

16.01.2022 Amy and Natalie are thrilled to announce you can now BUY a digital copy of their hit two-woman comedy showdown "Love/Hate Actually"! Like many performers in these strange times, your favourite duelling dames are thinking creatively when it comes to creativity. Now you can enjoy their award-winning debate about the merits of 2003 rom-com Love Actually from the comfort of your own home.... Head to www.actreact.com.au to grab your copy! The purchase price of $15 breaks down this way: $5 each to Amy and Natalie as writer/performers $3 to cover transaction fees and GST $2 donation to Best Friends Felines We wanted to make sure we gave back to others working hard at this time - Best Friends Felines is a Brisbane-based animal rescue charity that Natalie has been a long time foster carer for. Due to physical distancing restrictions, BFF cannot currently hold usual fundraising events, so all donations will go towards getting cats and kittens into their forever homes! Thanks to our friends at Trending Media Australia for filming this production, which took place at the @BRISBANE POWERHOUSE. And thank you for your support! www.actreact.com.au Amy Currie - Writer & Performer | Natalie Bochenski | @Elephant Boots Productions | #LoveHateActually |

16.01.2022 Thanks to our buddies at Fringe World Festival! Love/Hate Actually still available as a digital download through www.actreact.com.au

15.01.2022 Our friends at BRISBANE POWERHOUSE may have had to close their doors, but they've kept the lols rolling with their new signage. We look forward to storming the doors once the OK is given for creativity to return! In the meantime, we hope you're all staying safe (and a safe distance apart).

13.01.2022 Hello, friends! We're waiting as patiently (or impatiently?) as all of you to see when we can get back to business in some form. We hope you're all staying safe and well. In the meantime, we thought it was worth marking the one year anniversary of Amy and Natalie's arrival in Edinburgh ahead of the 2019 Fringe. ... The pair arrived in the Scottish capital and settled in for just under four weeks of performances of "Love/Hate Actually" at Imagination Workshop Festival Hub. It was definitely a life-changing experience, and wouldn't have been possible without the support of Elephant Boots Productions. How could anyone have predicted that there would be no 2020 festival? Of course, it's just one of many festival casualties in this very strange year. Amy Currie - Writer & Performer | Natalie Bochenski | Edinburgh Festival Fringe

13.01.2022 Hello, wonderful friends. It's Natalie Bochenski here - producer, writer and performer with Act/React. We've worked consistently with our friends at BRISBANE POWERHOUSE for years, and deeply value the relationship we've built together to bring our popcorn pop-culture shows to Brisbane audiences. ... Like so many in the arts, Covid-19 has had a huge impact on our livelihood, and of course on the Powerhouse's - which is why I was stunned to learn the Powerhouse had selected us for a Generator Grant. This funding is a beautiful gesture of faith in our goal to create inventive, funny, silly and escapist theatre & comedy that delights you, our audiences. I'd like to congratulate the other artists selected - Lucas Stibbard, Alinta McGrady and Natano Fa'anana - wonderful locals who will no doubt create amazing things. The Brisbane Powerhouse Foundation is a great way to support the venue that supports local artists. bit.ly/2UmIGZe We cannot WAIT to get back into action. You'll be the first to know when we do! Thanks to you all for your wonderful support. | | | |

12.01.2022 Congratulations to our friends at Queensland Omnibus & Coach Society (QOCS) for launching their newest restoration project! Bus 80 was one of the first purpose-built buses for the then-fledgling Brisbane City Council fleet in 1948. Check out this great yarn from Brisbane Times on this 72-year-old's makeover.... https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au//one-of-brisbane-s-oldest QOCS of course loan us the buses we use for "Speed: The Movie, The Play", and we love seeing these heritage beauties on the roads!

11.01.2022 Thanks for the shout out, BRISBANE POWERHOUSE! You can grab a digital copy of "Love/Hate Actually" at www.actreact.com.au for just $15! 11.01.2022 Yesterday we participated in a COVID-19 Performing Arts Forum hosted by La Boite Theatre Company. The forum was held in the Roundhouse Theatre at QUT, with the 60 or so physical attendees sitting well-spaced, with safe microphone hygiene practiced. It was also live-streamed via La Boite's FB page. The forum was incredibly useful to get up-to-date information from key arts sector stakeholders including the MEAA, Live Performance Australia, Arts Queensland, the Australia Coun...cil for the Arts and the Actors' and Entertainers' Benevolent Fund. It was also a chance for small to medium arts businesses and organisations, as well as sole traders and freelancers, to offer ideas and suggestions on how to best support all levels of arts sector workers. It's great to see today Arts Queensland has now announced measures to help the small-to-medium sector, including guaranteeing current funding levels for another year, delaying future funding application deadlines and waving rents in government-owned facilities. https://www.arts.qld.gov.au//arts-queensland-assistance-fo This will help many organisations retain staff and have financial security for the rest of the year. AQ and other bodies have said there will be more assistance forthcoming - obviously it's a rapidly changing situation with no precedent. None of these measures will directly assist Act/React at this time, but that is totally understandable! A rising tide lifts us all, and we want to promote and highlight work being done to help the whole sector. Please keep an eye out on this page for future updates! #coronavirus | #COVID19

11.01.2022 Our beautiful 1970 Leyland Panther has left the BRISBANE POWERHOUSE after our sadly shortened season of "Speed: The Movie, The Play". Our thanks as always to Queensland Omnibus & Coach Society (QOCS), which loans us our buses. A portion of all Speed tickets sold will be donated to QOCS to help them maintain and preserve these beautiful vintage vehicles. We had such a wonderful time at the Brisbane Comedy Festival, and have no doubt the bus will return!... Our thanks also to Elephant Boots Productions for its support of the production.

10.01.2022 Throwback Thursday time! We welcomed comedian, "Utopia" star and Logie winner Dilruk Jayasinha onto the "Speed: The Movie, The Play" bus back in early March. You can catch Dilruk on Amazon Prime from April 24 with his stand-up comedy special "Bundle of Joy". ... Have you posed with Keanu & Dennis after the show? We'd love to see your pics! 09.01.2022 InQueensland has a fantastic article going behind the scenes at BRISBANE POWERHOUSE during its Covid-19 closure. Tech director Naomi Gordon is a good friend to Act/React, taking all of our strange technical requirements for buses and boats in her stride. We're not surprised at all she's so matter-of-fact about having to flush every toilet every day! https://inqld.com.au//the-hidden-headaches-of-keeping-pow/... Meanwhile, it's been lovely seeing colour back on the face of the building - the Powerhouse teamed up with Backbone to create these wonderful artworks. "Don't You Forget About Me", indeed!

09.01.2022 If you're at home this Friday night (you see, we're still making jokes!), why not check out The IsoLate Late Show? This digital fundraising concert is being staged by the little red company, an independent Brisbane musical theatre company responsible for such shows as "Rumour Has It" and "Christmas Actually". All donations raised will go towards supporting the Actors' and Entertainers' Benevolent Fund.... https://www.facebook.com/events/767806123743532/ It starts at 8pm Queensland time, so grab your snacks and settle in for great music and good times.

07.01.2022 It turns out using signs to talk to someone while standing 1.5 metres away from them on their doorstep IS a responsible thing to do! Check out Sammy J's Covid-19 inspired Love Actually parody. We hope you're all staying safe and relatively non-creepy during this time of lockdown!

04.01.2022 Keanu and Dennis know that in a time of crisis, it's important to check in. Today marks the start of April. It's only been a few weeks since we had to shut down "Speed: The Movie, The Play" at the Brisbane Comedy Festival, but it feels like years ago! Time certainly warps in a global pandemic. We hope that all of our friends and supporters are staying safe, well, and indoors as much as possible. We'd love to know what you're getting up to at home - cleaning, crafting, cookin...g, educating? Maybe you're rewatching classics such as Speed, Titanic, Die Hard or Love Actually? Would followers here be interested in any content from Act/React during this time? We're brainstorming ideas that would work in the online world, so happy to hear any thoughts or ideas! 02.01.2022 Scenestr. has been a big supporter of Act/React over the years, and we're thrilled to see they've expanded their street press know-how into the world of podcasts/vodcasts! You can watch Episode 1 online - or track down the weekly podcast! ... https://youtu.be/EEs_LSFLUgg Scenestr QLD | #scenestr

02.01.2022 The only thing that should threaten our passengers during "Speed: The Movie, The Play" is a mad bomber out for revenge. With the COVID-19 virus continuing to escalate, the BRISBANE POWERHOUSE has made the heart-breaking but necessary decision to cancel the final week of the Brisbane Comedy Festival. This means the brakes have been put on our season - which had been extended an extra week beyond the BCF due to popular demand.... We wish to thank EVERYONE who jumped onboard our beautiful Leyland Panther. Everyone who had booked for upcoming shows will be contacted about refunds. The Powerhouse team have been incredible to us during this process; we know how devastated they are. Please be patient as they work to carry out refunds during this unprecedented event. We hope that you will come and support us at future shows - without our amazing audiences, we're just a bunch of crazy dreamers with a bus and a ton of corflute. You make the magic happen. This crisis will affect everyone, and of course, our thoughts are with our frontline health workers and those working in vital infrastructure and services. However, the live performance sector is being particularly crunched. Act/React will advocate as much as possible for government support packages for the entire sector, and we encourage our wonderful audiences to get behind such initiatives. Finally, in a small sliver of a silver lining - we just marked 1000 likes on our FB page. Thank you for continuing to support us as we floor it, and jump the gap into the unknown. Be excellent to each other. Elephant Boots Productions | Queensland Omnibus & Coach Society (QOCS) | Images by Anderson | #speedthemovietheplay
