So here we go, something for your heart and mind. The Guest House, by Rumi... This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they are a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight. The dark thought, the shame, the malice. Meet them at the door laughing and invite them in. Be grateful for whatever comes. because each has been sent as a guide from beyond. ...... We want you to know that you are an important part of our community and we hope you and your family, friends and local community are doing as best you can during this pandemic. It’s amazing to see and feel for the first time in all our lifetimes, the world really come together rallying love and support - to face this coronavirus on a united front. In the face of such difficult circumstances, how wonderful to feel us all unite together as one human race. So there is plenty to be grateful for at the moment. 02.01.2022 Just some thoughts...if you are feeling anxious or overwhelmed, remember to take time off from the news and devices to be present in your life and focus on the ...things you can control, like what you think about, your breathing and how you spend your time. Distract yourself with things that interest you, do some baking, listen to a podcast, catch up on that book you’ve been meaning to read, connect with friends (even over the phone if it’s not possible in person) and cherish extra time spent with your family and loved ones. When you start to notice things getting out of control and your stress level rising, bring your attention to something more neutral, like feeling your feet or your belly or your breath, listening to the sounds you can hear or even something enjoyable like cuddling your pet. Do some daily movement and stretching to encourage electrical flow. Best if you can do that outside with fresh air if you are able, but inside is good too if you are in self isolation and stuck inside. Keep things moving.
