20.01.2022 I was just driving to a new block of land that I’ve purchased in Mornington. I got to a main road and felt like a coffee. I was at a T intersection.... I thought which way, left or right to the nearest McDonalds drive through to get a long black. I turned right and sure enough less than 1km up the road was a McDonalds. What an unbelievable business, where I didn’t know where one was but I was sure a McDonald’s restaurant wouldn’t be to far away. 13.01.2022 I truly believe the society ‘status symbols’ are changing. I remember when I was a young fella the old status symbols were a nice house, nice car, married, nice job & maybe a university degree. Now in my opinion it’s about freedom.... Time freedom, financial freedom & location freedom. I’ve never been a perfectionist but I’ve also never been a procrastinator. I would rather take action, get on with something & fine tune it along the way - this way momentum is created & life is given. 07.01.2022 Without struggle it’s hard for success to hold significant value. You don’t get to see your true self without the struggle - you don’t know what you’re really made of until you’re tested! You need to work hard & smart!... If hard work alone would get you there everyone who worked hard at a 9-5 job would be millionaires. This clearly isn’t the case. One thing that continues to surprise me are people that have thought about starting a business (for example) but are concerned that the 10year commitment is too intense BUT they’re content to spend the next 40-50 years in a job they hate. 06.01.2022 I hated school & was kicked out half way through year 11. I couldn’t understand the concept of being forced to learn something that I wasn’t interested in or I didn’t need to know for my journey in life. If I want to know something I can google it.... It’s interesting to see now companies such as Google, Netflix, Apple & Tesla aren’t requiring degrees for new graduates. The understanding is that companies don’t need people who have memorised information for tests they’ll forget & can google answers for anyway. The attributes in demand are passion, drive, hunger, determination, loyalty, communication, vision etc. Tesla chief Elon Musk puts it simply ‘People don’t need college to learn stuff’ Elon doesn’t have an aerospace degree yet created the most revolutionary space rocket company ever! When I started in real estate at the agent of 18 everyone was always fully suited up where as now the attire is a lot more relaxed. Tattoos were unheard of but are now a lot more common. All of these stereotypes have changed dramatically in the space of only 20 years. 06.01.2022 Make no mistake there is a compounding affect of the work you put it that you often can’t see. It’s not like compounding interest from money which is tangible and you can monitor. The compounding interest in the work you put in will reach micro tipping points which build foundations.... 01.01.2022 Covid has taught me a lot about myself and has brought clarity to my life. When Covid hit I had over 30 staff who’s jobs were in limbo. I had to close down 3 businesses with commercial shopfronts indefinitely.... Instead of whinging about the loss I looked for the opportunity the time gave. I lost leaving the bar I own late most nights but gained more time with son. I lost having to necessarily be somewhere but I started my own coaching business. I lost shopfronts but started a new digital platform. I lost being time poor to back fighting & solid weight training since my bicep reconstruction in December. I lost people in my life I didn’t want to be in my life anyway and gained people I do want in my life. Covid has taught me a lot about myself and has brought clarity to my life. 01.01.2022 Sometimes life gives you unexpected setbacks. This was the exact moment I snapped my tendon that connects my bicep to my forearm. I was supposed to be fighting in 2 weeks from this light sparring session.... 1 week later I was in surgery having a full left bicep reconstruction. 2 weeks post surgery I was back in the gym. No whinging, no complaining, just back into it.
