25.01.2022 7 likes off 300 - pretty cool!

25.01.2022 First proper test print from the new Epson SC P800, and it's a colour chart shot from one of the 17 Smiles shoots. A bit more work to do but it's looking promising that I'll be able to print the final images for the exhibition myself as I'd hoped! Given a printer can't quite duplicate every colour 100% anyway, I think the colorchecker passport printed out pretty nicely when put side by side with the real thing as seen here. Was also a good way to see if my prints are looking too dark since I haven't set up a controlled print viewing booth yet.

24.01.2022 Finally have the business email up and running! I'll update it in the contact information, but just to get it out there, it is [email protected]

24.01.2022 Still a work in progress, and needs some fine tuning. I just quickly threw a random image in rather than showing one that will be featured on the site when it's up soon - but this will give you all an idea of how the site will most likely appear.

24.01.2022 Some of you may know I've been shooting real estate photography in recent times. It was nice receiving an email which was forwarded to me today about the dusk shoot I did last night. That email started like this.... "I had a shoot done this afternoon by Adam. Firstly I just wanted to say how professional Adam was and he really took the time to make sure the shots were spot on, I was very impressed."... The rest was business related, so I won't post the rest - but it's always nice seeing some appreciation :)

23.01.2022 Writing an "About" page for my website is something I've been putting off for a long time. Over the last few days I have made a start and written a lot. Trying to condense it into something concise and interesting is going to be difficult, but I'm hoping it will be finished by the end of this week. Wish me luck!

22.01.2022 1 more like till 250! With free studio portrait shoots* on offer for bookings taken before 5pm tomorrow to celebrate Valentines Day, there's never been a. better time to share my page ;) *Conditions apply - email [email protected] for details and/or to make a booking.

22.01.2022 Out and about working :)

21.01.2022 The search for print perfection begins today. Can't wait to get this out of the box and start testing!

20.01.2022 ".....That is the richness and importance of a photograph. A portrait remains a testimony forever, an instant of someone´s life, a side of a personality that beholds many other facets." - from the article 'The importance of a portrait / Chiara Donn / Essential intimacy' (check out the link below)

19.01.2022 Another performer from the Youth Opportunities Cabaret Collective event. Canon 1Dx with Canon 24-70 f/2.8L II. Shot at ISO 1600, f/2.8 @1/60 second

19.01.2022 Always have snacks on hand at a shoot.

18.01.2022 75% off normal shoot price, and part proceeds going to Autism Awareness Australia. Book in by the end of the month for this very special offer and to help make a difference! https://www.facebook.com/AutismAwarenessAustralia

18.01.2022 It's time to get regular! Yes, I have decided to dedicate more time to this page. Expect to see tips to help you look your best in front of the camera, simple photographic tips to help you take better photos, notes on who and what inspires me and about what, why and how I do what I do. Of course there will be updates on my work and personal projects along with anything else that I think you may find interesting or useful. Make sure you are following this page so you don't miss out!

18.01.2022 There is something mesmerising about watching a trout break the mirrored surface of a pool as it rises in golden evening light. If it wasn't for the ring of ripples it leaves behind, one could be forgiven for thinking they had imagined it as it seems to happen so fast. Only 5 prints of this image will be available. Each will be printed on quality fine art paper using pigment inks. Email [email protected] if you would like further details or to place an order.

18.01.2022 Headshot shoot today. This guy was a natural in front of the camera - and at holding up a colorchecker, haha! Looking forward to posting a few of the final images.

18.01.2022 Printed a couple of portraits today - neither are finished images, just some printer testing. I can't show the one at the bottom as it is one of the images for the 17 smiles project - so consider it a sneak peek. It's as much as I'm willing to show for now. The final print will of course be larger and I haven't decided on paper type yet.....and it needs a few colour adjustments before being ready to exhibit.

16.01.2022 Tonights shoot for the 17 Smiles project was not only a success in it's own right, but after we had the shot in the bag, a quick lighting change and I think I may have managed to take a shot that will go in the portfolio too, despite being one of those fun/silly shots. It just worked.

15.01.2022 Another 17 Smiles shoot completed. Thanks for your time Fiona :)

15.01.2022 It's been a while since I've done one, but looking forward to shooting at my 3rd Youth Opportunities event tomorrow night!

15.01.2022 Tethered and ready for another 17 Smiles shoot with minutes to spare. Guess that's what happens when a shoot is organised last minute!

13.01.2022 About to leave - but here's some BTS shots for the shoot that's about to happen - shot with my new little Olympus E-M1

12.01.2022 Yet another image from the Youth Opportunities Cabaret Collective event. Canon 1Dx with Canon 24-70 f/2.8L II. Shot at ISO 1600, f/2.8 @1/200 second

12.01.2022 What's your favorite portrait lens? I'm getting right in amongst the pixels while working on an extra image that was shot this afternoon after we got the 17 smiles shot done. This was shot with the Canon 135 f2L - my current favorite portrait lens.

12.01.2022 Sell or swap: Canon 24mm f1.4L II. Mint condition, used only a handful of times. Comes with everything including the packaging. Selling to put funds towards the 17 and 24 TS-E lenses for my real estate and architectural work. looking for $1600 or to swap for either of the TS-E's in mint condition (I will pay cash difference to be agreed upon)

12.01.2022 Exciting times - so many shoots happening over the next month - it's a bit of a whirlwind!

11.01.2022 A variation on the 17 Smiles project lighting setup. Not sure I really shot much with it like this, however seeing this picture again reminds me of yet another variation I may well play around with at some point in the future.

11.01.2022 Does anyone know any Adelaide based television personalities, radio presenters, musicians, sports stars, prominent business people? Why do I ask you wonder? Well, a brief update on my 17 Smiles Project should explain it. Wanting to finish shooting ASAP. I have had a few people drop out and there are a handful of spaces available. I'd like to get a few local personalities involved if possible. It will take up very little of their precious time. Even obscure details would help. Please inbox me if you think you have any information that might help. Thanks in advance!

11.01.2022 Finally not only has shooting of the 17 smiles project been completed, but today I packed the lighting away too!

10.01.2022 I will be contacting the last of those to be photographed for the 17 Smiles project very soon. For now here's some very different and somewhat more abstract personal work.

10.01.2022 Still looking for more people willing to smile for my cameras. (especially more males) for my upcoming 17 Smiles project. Of course more female applicants are welcome too - and people of all ages are equally welcome to take part. To find out more, please inbox me.

10.01.2022 If you want to look better in a photograph, whether it's a professional portrait taken by myself or another photographer, a shot taken by a friend, or even just a selfie, then this video is for YOU! As the title says, It's all about the Squinch! "What the hell is a squinch?" I hear you ask. Well, all I can say is do yourself a favour and check out this video by Peter Hurleys before you are next in front of a camera of any kind. This little tip can make a big difference as you will see.

10.01.2022 First of the shoots for my 17 Smiles project is happening this afternoon! Exciting stuff!!

10.01.2022 Editing the first of a few of the fitness portraits!

10.01.2022 Looks like the weather should be pretty comfortable for today's location shoot :) think I may shoot some BTS hair/makeup shots with my new Olympus OM-D E-M5.

10.01.2022 Only just realised my shots from the Cabart Collective are up on the Youth Opportunities website!

10.01.2022 Behind the scenes of Wednesdays shoot - well, more a test frame, but it gives a bit of insight into what to expect from the images from this shoot.

09.01.2022 Took some "before" shots this afternoon of a great friend and gym buddy. I will be taking an "after" shot in 8 weeks time to see what kind of transformation he can make in that time. Hopefully he will let me share the images.

09.01.2022 Surprisingly wasn't too nervous photographing another photographer this morning for 17 Smiles. Pretty happy with the results too - thanks for your time John Murray :)

07.01.2022 Trying to decide where to start with this first of my regular postings on this page was an easy choice. I mentioned I would post some notes on who inspires me, so it's only fitting that this post fits into that category and is about David Anderson. For those who don't know, I moved to Sydney in late 2008 to work as Davids assistant. Most of the work was in the music and entertainment industry and I certainly learned more in the relatively short time I worked with him than I h...ad in the years leading up to that point. It was an opportunity I will be forever grateful for. Prior to working with him, he was one of the few people who when I occasionally asked his opinion on one of my photographs would give me the kind of critique I liked - truly honest. I remember him looking at one particular picture that I thought was ok and he said he would never show it to a client. Of course he went on to explain why it was so unflattering. I not only never forgot that lesson but I remember it now when I look over client photos, and I also think about it while shooting in order to stop them from happening in the first place. Anyway, It's pretty cool for me looking through his website and seeing a few of the images that were taken on shoots that I was a part of. David is now based in Albury in NSW and can be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/pages/David-Anderson-dsaphotocom/688421861273231?fref=ts And don't forget to check out his website at the link below!

07.01.2022 Finally crossed the half way point of shooting the 17 Smiles project today! More shoots coming up over the next couple of week should bring it to the home stretch!

07.01.2022 My Really Right Stuff TVC 34L tripod arrived today. Put my trusty Manfrotto 410 Junior geared head on (though have to work out how to secure it properly). Still, this thing feels rock solid!

06.01.2022 Happy Valentines Day!!! Last chance to book your FREE studio shoot with me! Offer ends at 5pm today! Email aazappia@gmail to book your place now.

06.01.2022 I will start informing those chosen for the 17 smiles project that they have been chosen this week, however I am still looking for more males of ANY age. If you know anyone who may be interested, let them know about the project or send them here for more information. They can inbox me or email [email protected] for further details.

06.01.2022 If anyone wanting to be part of the 17 Smiles project is free this afternoon/evening from 1pm onwards let me know. I should be free to shoot all afternoon :)

06.01.2022 Should I do it?.......I'm thinking that upon the launch of my website I will display one of the 17 smiles images. I was going to keep them all hidden from the public until the exhibition opening (date TBA), however I'm not sure if I can wait that long to show one. The problem will be choosing one. I still have a number of them to shoot too!

05.01.2022 After having shot a few of the 17 Smiles images and looking at them on my monitor, I'm starting to wonder if the 16x24 inch prints I originally planned on exhibiting will be large enough . If I find a big enough venue and if I can manage the extra cost (especially of matting and framing), I think I may go to 20x30.

04.01.2022 Some of my old work

04.01.2022 Berry Bay, Yorke Peninsula, South Australia. In the distance was a southern right whale and her calf, but looking straight down from the cliff on which I was standing I found this little landscape

04.01.2022 Something for Valentines day - FREE PORTRAIT SHOOT! Book between now and 5pm on February 14 for a free studio portrait session! Conditions apply, email aazappia@gmail for details and to book your shoot!

03.01.2022 Forehead forward and chin down PEOPLE! Some more good stuff from Peter Hurley. A follow on from my earlier post about the Squinch, this is one of many to come about looking better in photographs. Yes, those who have been photographed by me would have likely heard these instructions from me, and now you know where I picked up this trick. Just watch the first 4 minutes if you like as it will give you a good idea or watch the whole thing if you feel so inclined.

03.01.2022 Final days of this special offer - don't miss out!

03.01.2022 Headshot shoot today. This guy was a natural in front of the camera - and at holding up a colorchecker, haha! Looking forward to posting a few of the final images.

03.01.2022 Knowing your work is appreciated helps make it easier to deal with the more challenging jobs, like one I did yesterday.....

03.01.2022 Two great shoots today!

03.01.2022 Great late afternoon shooting 5 fresh new faces. Hopefully the images will help get the two boys and three young ladies some acting and/or modeling work.

02.01.2022 One of my images from Friday Nights Cabaret Collective event by Youth Opportunities. Canon 1Dx with with Canon 24-70 f/2.8L II. Shot at ISO 800, f/5 @1/80 second

02.01.2022 Youth Opportunities Cabaret Collective event. Canon 1Dx with Canon 85mm f/1.2L II. Shot at ISO 200, f/2.5 @1/250 second

01.01.2022 And we're over 250 likes. Thank you to all those who have liked my page so far :)

01.01.2022 Looks like possibly two more 17 smiles shoots will be done tomorrow. Been flat out shooting real estate for the last month but it's time to make time for personal work again :)

01.01.2022 A single frame from part of what is almost a time lapse that will go together with some video footage for the 17 Smiles project. Obviously this frame is from part of the setup. It also gives a pretty good idea of how big the Elinchrom Octalite 190 is!
