25.01.2022 To our dearest clients, It's with a heavy heart that we close our doors again for the next 6 weeks, Given the current state of disaster we need to all pull together to get through this. This means stay at home, get creative with new hobbies, re-discover your garden, read that book you've been looking at for months, learn a new skill, and go for a walk, run or bike ride every day within your 5km radius. We will get through this and life will one day get back to normal. In the ...mean time we are still here to support you. If you have concerns or questions about your physical health please don't hesitate to call, message or email. If you'd like advice on how to manage a condition we are available for telehealth appointments. Or if you'd just like to chat and touch base we'd be happy to hear a familiar voice. Until then, look after yourselves and each other
25.01.2022 To use hot or cold...? We get this question all the time and the general rule is: Ice/cold packs are used for the first 48 hours following an acute injury where there is bruising and swelling - ie a sprained ankle... Applying cold packs to the injured area helps reduce pain by numbing the area and may help reduce local inflammation. Apply the cold pack for 10-15 mins and repeat every couple of hours. Elevating the injured body part will also help. Heat is used to help alleviate muscle tightness, joint stiffness and the pain and discomfort caused by these conditions. Heat can be used at any other time than the immediate 48 hours following an acute injury, this is because applying heat to an inflamed area may actually increase swelling and bruising. Heat can be applied in a number of ways - heat packs, hot water bottles, hot showers/baths or heating pads, and can be used for as long as comfortable, just be careful in ensuring the heat isn't too hot.

22.01.2022 Status update - As the government slowly starts to ease some of the restrictions we are endeavoring to reopen our doors as soon as possible. Our top priority continues to be the safety and well being of our clients, their families and our greater community. So while we can't wait to get back into clinic, for now we feel it's best to wait for further reassurance from the government before doing so. For the time being, online consultations are available, and we are taking requests for future self-care videos, so if you have anything general queries you'd like help with and you think others may be able to benefit from too - send us a message and we'll get onto it asap Keep looking after yourselves and each other, and we will get through this

20.01.2022 4 days to go until the #PushUpChallenge is here. That's 3, 046 push ups in 21 days! This challenge is focused on raising awareness of mental health in Australia, with all funds raised going towards Headspace - National Youth Mental Health Organisation. A cause arguably even more important this year than usual. I am lucky enough to be sharing this load with 5 of the Peninsula Dragonflys Dragon Boat members who I am ever so grateful for and who I'm sure all have much better upp...er body strength than me If anybody would like to donate to this incredible cause, and support us along the way the link is below

17.01.2022 Just wanting to say a HUGE thank you to everyone for all the support I've received in the last few weeks since being back in clinic. It has been so good to see you all again and I've been so proud of how everyone has been taking care of their physical well-being while we were unable to do treatments face to face. You are all wonderful, keep up the good work and if I haven't had a chance to get in contact with you please let me know and we will arrange an appointment asap.
17.01.2022 A great exercise to target your shoulder and upper back region. Strengthen between your shoulder blades while increasing mobility through your upper back. Really helpful for all types of neck, shoulder and upper back pain, stiffness and headaches. As always, if it doesn't feel right or aggravates your pain, please stop and get in touch.
17.01.2022 Foam rolling your upper back can really help with back ache and stiffness. You may notice back pain and stiffness if you've been on the computer/smart device more than usual (like myself!), your desk set up has changed because you've been WFH, your exercise routines are all out of wack, or you've been doing more or unaccustomed lifting such as being a new parent or having a particularly big day on a worksite. Foam rolling is an easy self treatment strategy that feels good and can give instant relief.
16.01.2022 WARNING Likely the best and most simple product to help you with your back pain! The Wili Heat Bag Back Wrap!!... Its a heat bag, with a back strap!! Yes I am excited!! Perfect for mid and lower back pain, simply heat it in the microwave, strap it on and youre good to go! Also a perfect gift for any pregnant mumma friends (I can testify for this!!) Once again, yes I am excited! $57.50 available at the clinic
16.01.2022 Quick pre-work workout, including my share of todays push ups for the #pushupchallenge 30 mins, 3 sets Clams Hydrants... Push ups Squats Lat pull downs Shoulder press #Day5 #TagDag ....
15.01.2022 This sequence is really beneficial for anyone wanting to work on their balance and lower body strength. As you step forward and back you change your base of support, thereby getting more of a balance component into your routine. When working on balance, safety is key so perform next to a bench or wall that you can support yourself with if needed. Keep your squats shallow and build up to being able to squat down further.
15.01.2022 Happy Monday All #starttheweekoffwitharun #2degrees #bbrr
14.01.2022 The shoulder is one of the most complex joints in the body. Here are a couple of stretches targeted towards the pecs, biceps, rotator cuff, posterior deltoid and triceps. The most important thing with shoulder stretches is not to push through pain! Some discomfort is ok, but if you experience sharp, pinching or intense pain it's best to stop that stretch for now, message me and we can work out a better plan that suits your shoulder.
13.01.2022 Its such gorgeous weather this morning I had to get out to enjoy it! So Charlie and I went for a walk around our beautiful wetlands What have you done for you today? #selfcareiniso
12.01.2022 During my normal exercises this morning my right hip just didnt feel right, it was pinching each time I tried to go into a deep squat. So what did I do? a) stop squatting b) modify my squat c) stop all exercise because clearly my body needed a rest... B - if your usual exercise isnt feeling quite right modify it. Almost all exercises can be modified to accomodate injuries or slight niggles. I modified my squat by narrowing my stance and reducing the depth, but maintained my usual number of reps and resistance
12.01.2022 Foam rolling your legs and glutes is a must for runners or for anyone participating in a new type of exercises and is finding their hips, legs or even lower back getting tight or stiff. This video will show you an easy routine you can do following exercise or on a rest day which hits all the major muscle groups and only takes a couple of minutes on each side. Give it a go and let me know how you feel afterwards
12.01.2022 The news that restrictions may be eased next week makes us VERY excited! As soon as we have a date for returning to in clinic treatments we will contact everyone to organise new appointment times
11.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them... Lest we forget #lightupthedawn
10.01.2022 As of Thursday all clients will be required to wear a face covering during their appointments. These can be Disposable face masks (surgical or non-surgical) Cloth masks (get your sewing on!) Scarfs/buffs/neck warmers wrapped around to cover your nose and mouth (accessorise!! Just remember maybe not so practical when we are treating your shoulders or neck)... Sock mask (youve seen the videos, go on and give it a go!!) If you are unable to bring your own face covering we will provide one for $2. We know this isnt ideal, but lets have some fun with it
09.01.2022 WE ARE OPEN!!! We have been testing the waters over the last couple of weeks and we are very excited to announce that we are open and staying open!! Of course we have some new processes in place as your health and safety remains our top priority. These include... - Waiting for your appointments in your car. Once we're ready we will call you and ask you to come in - Taking temperatures as you enter the clinic. If you have a higher temp we will reschedule your appointment for a weeks time, and ask that you see your doctor before then - Hand sanitizer readily available in all rooms - Increased the time between appointments for thorough cleaning of all touched surfaces - Total Balance has installed a splutter guard up around the reception desk. - If you are feeling unwell in any way on the day of your appointment please call us and we will discuss an appropriate time to reschedule. - While not essential, we do ask that where possible, you have the covid-19 safe app downloaded and running when you come into your appointment. - We continue to maintain our high standards of towel and hand hygiene We are very excited to be returning to face to face consults, however if you would rather not come into the clinic, online appointments are still available. Please continue to look after yourselves, but if you need a helping hand, we are here
07.01.2022 Back to stage 3....this is a situation I know no one wanted but one we are forced to face. What does this mean for us? Towards the end of the last stage 3 lockdown it was confirmed that Myotherapy is considered an essential service, which means for the time being we will continue to be seeing clients face to face. We already have all the necessary precautions in place and will continue to monitor the local infection rate and risk and will keep you all updated as any changes... occur. We would like to ask all of you to continue to be safe, if you are feeling unwell in anyway please call us and we will reschedule your appointment. If you have been in close contact with anyone who is waiting their covid-19 test results back, please call us and we will reschedule your appointment. This is for the good of everyone in our community. Let's stay safe and help reduce the spread See more
06.01.2022 Happy Easter To All!! May everyones weekend be full of hot cross buns and chocolate (we know ours will be!) All while staying in the comfort of your own homes Stay safe!
06.01.2022 Strengthening your shoulder is really important in conditions such as rotator cuff tendinpathies and subacromial impingements. It can also be really good for shoulder pain that doesn't seem to respond to stretching. This is an easy to do, early stage exercise. Depending on your condition and existing strength, aim for anywhere between 8-15 reps and repeat for 2-3 sets.
06.01.2022 Were having a baby!!
02.01.2022 Tuesday is tute day in the clinic, just now with a zoom twist! We use these opportunities to share, discuss and brainstorm any hard cases we've seen in the last week. After all, 5 heads are better than 1!

01.01.2022 Who is interested in joining a team with me?? More than happy to make it an accumulated effort (upper body strength isn't my strong point....pun intended) 3, 046 push ups in 21 days to raise awareness and money for Headspace - challenge accepted, now someone please help me do it!! It's FREE!... It's a FUN way to get fit and work on that upper body strength (no, I will not be doing full push ups, yes, I will be on my knees) And it RAISES MONEY for a very good cause, especially during these times. If you're interested let me know
01.01.2022 Face Masks... As per government recommendations, we will be wearing face masks during our treatments for the foreseeable future... We understand that they look a bit silly... And its a bit confronting...... But at the end of the day this is for your safety, as we cant maintain 1.5m distance between us throughout your whole treatment. While its not necessary for you to wear masks too, we support your choice to do so. So lets have a laugh about our ridiculous new fashion sense together and be covid smart. It wont be forever
01.01.2022 These are 3, easy to perform exercises to help increase your lower back mobility, and therefore help with lower back pain and stiffness.
