23.01.2022 We currently have a good supply of flu vaccines still available. If you have not yet received a flu vaccine in 2020 please phone the clinic and make an appointment soon. Annual flu vaccination is strongly recommended for anyone 6 months of age and older. Due to changes in circulating strains and waning immunity, vaccination is required each year. This year it is even more important to be vigilant about the flu because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

20.01.2022 I have ceased regular consulting sessions at Adelaide Health Care from July 31st 2020 as I move toward retirement. I have had a terrific career in general practice, especially the last 21 years helping to build this unique health service. General practice is challenging and constantly changing. My journey has been full of wonderful patient encounters, opportunities for deep listening, experiences of triumph and at times sad losses. I hope I have been true to my aim of being... able to make a difference to my patients health, in the moment and into the future. Thank you for sharing the journey. I wish every patient with whom I have consulted the opportunity for your best health into the future. I am immensely proud of the practice that my colleagues and I have built over the past 21 years. We have an excellent team of staff, doctors and allied health practitioners who care about the quality of the services offered and care deeply about our patient group. I am confident that you are in exceptionally good hands. Dr. Maureen Gallagher MBBS DRCOG FRACGP See more

13.01.2022 We would like to extend a belated welcome to Dr Wendy Wen and Dr Taisa Dorniak-Wall who both commenced consulting with us at Adelaide Health Care in February this year. Dr Wendy Wen is interested in all aspects of General Practice including paediatrics and women’s health. She is able to administer IV iron infusions and insert implanons. In addition to English, Dr Wen also speaks Mandarin. Dr Taisa Dorniak-Wall is our latest GP registrar in residence. GP Registrars are highly skilled doctors supported by a team of very experienced Supervisors and Medical Educators as they undertake the main training to become specialist general practitioners. She has an interest in women’s health, paediatrics, pre and post-natal health and mental & sexual health. She also does shared care and can insert implanons.

10.01.2022 Do you know someone in your life that could benefit from a Men’s Shed? A Men’s Shed plays an important role in the prevention of social isolation and the promotion of positive health and wellbeing amongst men, as well as enabling men to positively (re)connect with their community. The Australian Men's Shed Association (AMSA) is the peak body representing almost one thousand Men’s Sheds in Australia. As a not-for-profit, the Association acts to promote and develop the Men’s S...hed movement nationally (and globally) and provides practical advice and support, specialised services and assistance for the establishment and ongoing management of sheds. With more than 50 sheds in South Australia including 15 sheds in metropolitan Adelaide, there is something for everyone. 09.01.2022 It's R U OK?Day, a reminder that every day is a day to start a conversation that could change a life. Today we're calling on Australians to learn what to say af...ter R U OK? so they can keep the conversation going when someone says they're not OK. There's more to say after R U OK? Learn what to say when listening with an open mind Learn what to say when encouraging action Learn what to say when checking in Learn how to continue a conversation that could change a life. When we know what to say next we can help someone open up and find pathways to support long before they're in crisis. Learn what to say next and help us move closer to our vision of a world where we're all connected and are protected from suicide. Head to www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

09.01.2022 Safety measures we are currently undertaking at Adelaide Health Care include: Availability of telehealth appointments Patients are asked to wait in their cars or outside the building until the doctor or nurse are ready for the consult Screening of all patients before entering the practice Restricted chairs in the waiting room area, with all chairs in the building spaced 1.5m apart... Alcohol hand rub easily accessible in every room of the building All surfaces wiped with antibacterial surface wipes several times a day and between every patient encounter Temperature checks with non-touch thermometers Availability of disposable masks for patients and healthcare workers Patients with respiratory symptoms are seen by our doctors (using full Personal Protection Equipment) in a separate building outside the practice, set up specifically for this purpose. Regular meetings and inhouse communication with all members of our team to ensure we are undertaking the highest level of infection control measures as per SA Health recommendations. See more

08.01.2022 Skin cancers account for around 80% of all newly diagnosed cancers. It is a good idea to talk to your doctor about your level of risk and for advice on early detection, as well as annual skin checks. The sooner a skin cancer is identified and treated, the better your chance of avoiding surgery or, in the case of a serious melanoma or other skin cancer, potential disfigurement or even death. It's important to get to know your skin and what is normal for you, so that you notice... any changes. Skin cancers rarely hurt and are much more frequently seen than felt. 06.01.2022 Work in progress! Now that our logo has been painted, we get to watch Nicky Create paint her beautiful floral designs. We look forward to the finished product.

03.01.2022 Watch this space! Recently we gave the facade of our building a face-lift with a new coat of paint. The next step involves engaging a few local artists to give the eastern wall of our building a refresh and revamp with some vibrant street art. We hope you enjoy watching it evolve over the next few weeks and appreciate the end product.

01.01.2022 Vaccines are especially important for older adults. As you get older, your immune system weakens and it can be more difficult to fight off infections. You’re more likely to get diseases like the flu, pneumonia, and shingles - and to have complications that can lead to long-term illness, hospitalisation, and even death. Speak to your GP or one of our nurses for more information. https://medicinetoday.com.au//MT2019-02SUPPL-033-VACCINATI
