16.01.2022 After the Avs won the first two AIHL titles, the League expanded to six teams in 2002, and the next year the finals expanded to include the Top-4 teams. We thi...nk an 18-round regular season, then 1 v 4 and 2 v 3, with the winners advancing to the finals, and the losers playing off for third place (the one and only time). Adelaides top team won their third minor premiership in four seasons, but lost to the 4th-placed Western Sydney Ice Dogs, 4-1, then lost the battle for third place to the Sydney Bears, 10-5. But this, the second Avs program we have posted, shows Greg Oddys scoring average stuck on better than 2 points a game, and the Club itself still stamping the same brand of professionalism that won it renown. 14.01.2022 Coaching Clinic Level 1 , Level 1 Refresh / Update and Level 2 Saturday 22 February and Sunday 23 February 2020... Cost per course - $50 ($25 refundable upon successful completion of the course) ** please note, the course fee is not refundable if the course is not attended. Fee covers the cost of course materials, ice time, venue and lunch Both courses will be run between 9am and 5:30pm Saturday and Sunday, concluding with an exam. Attendance during the entire course is required. Level 1 If you intend on coaching in 2020 Senior of Junior, next ASL season or have been coaching without accreditation, please express your interest for this course. For prospective Junior coaches, please contact Coaching Director, Stu Henly to discuss potential vacancies in the Junior categories for 2020. This course will suit those who have not previously taken any coaches accreditation course. Target group - current or prospective coaches in IHSA Club hockey, ASL and IHSA Juniors. Level 1 Refresher course If you are an accredited level 1 coach but have not actively coached for 3 years or more, you require a refresher. This is generally a half day course where you will join the Level 1 course. More details from the IHA facilitator on this to follow. Target group - coaches who have previously coached as a level 1 but have taken time off and want to get back into it. Level 2 If you have your Level 1 accreditation and have at least one year of hands on coaching experience with IHSA, please express you interest in this course. You should have a coaching assignment for 2020 (and preferably beyond) in an IHSA sanctioned competition. This course is aimed at experienced Level 1 coaches with their sights set on continued contribution to developing players and goaltenders in SA. Coaching Director may decide that you do not qualify. Target group - Current Junior coaches, State Team coaches, experienced Club and ASL coaches. 04.01.2022 It is again with great sadness that we have to say goodbye to another fallen former club member. The South Australian and Australian ice hockey community lost another legend of the sport Chris Rurak. Chris is the son of Don and Shirley who for many years have dedicated there time and efforts into the continued improvement of ice hockey in Australia. Chris moved back to his native homeland at the age of 17 but the time he spent here touched so many people in so many ways. He was one of the best juniors to ever lace there skates up in this state and represented both SA and the Blackhawks on a national stage as well. The Blackhawks past and also present would like to send the deepest condolences to the Rurak family as well as anyone touched by Chris throughout his short life. RIP #19

04.01.2022 A big 8-2 win to the Men in Black over the Falcons, and a great way for the team (and club) to say farewell to Mitch Brekko. Mitch leaves us to return back to Canada, but we hope he will be back! Safe travels.

Saturday will be held at Sport SA from 0900-1700, Military Road, West Beach opposite the Adelaide Shores Caravan Park. Please bring your lunch, tea and coffee will be provided on the Saturday. Sunday will be held at the IceArenA from 10-1500. The on ice component will be 10-11am. All participants must be registered members of IHSA.
