06.01.2022 The door closed on our Station Caretaking gig today and we left a day earlier than planned. Rain was hopefully on the way! Awesome for the station owners who h...ad returned, but not for us - needing to tow the van out on 70 odd kms of red dirt roads that can turn to creeks and slush with a sniff of rain! So after many goodbyes, we hit the road and after a brief STOP n wait call, yep, you guessed it, we left something behind. Our station owner delivered most of our shoes (thank you ) we'd left at the front door! We tried to leave the shoes so we'd have to go back!!! Dammit, she was onto us! We will be back! The Station, is firmly entrenched in our hearts! Onwards......Gate Gal bounced out of the car to open what felt like 642 gates, all the time just ahead of the thundery clouds and after a couple of hours kickin' up very red dirt we we were back on bitumen looking for a camp spot in the rain! RAIN!!!!! So here we are, camped up in a stop on the side of the road, cleaning red dirt out of everything and eating Weet-Bix and Nutrigrain at 9.30pm for dinner, trucks roaring past and its bloody VANtastic. Wouldn't have it any other way! Stay tuned for the next adventure!!!!
