25.01.2022 Each year Zonta runs a campaign called '16 Days of Activism' from 25 November - 10 December 2020. During this period, our message is 'Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women'. Each day Adelaide Flinders will post messages highlighting issues that Women and Girls can experience every day. Please feel free to share this information.

23.01.2022 Shocking front page headline in today’s The West Australian newspaper, with an equally disturbing editorial with the headline, Domestic violence shame now an epidemic. There's a lot of work to be done!

23.01.2022 Today, July 30 is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons and Zonta International recognises those that are committed to the cause. This year, we are focusing ...on the first responders to human trafficking. These are the people who work in different sectors - identifying, supporting, counselling and seeking justice for victims of trafficking, and challenging the impunity of the traffickers. During the COVID-19 crisis, the essential role of first responders has become even more important. Particularly as the restrictions imposed by the pandemic have made their work even more difficult. Still, their contribution is often overlooked and unrecognized.

15.01.2022 I have just attended an excellent webinar for Foundation Ambassadors where we learned more about Zonta International's partnership with UNICEF USA, including t...he continuation of Zonta's support for Let Us Learn Madagascar and the UNFPA-UNICEF Global Programme to End Child Marriage, as well as a new initiative to support adolescent girls' health and protection in Peru. There were informative updates on progress and some powerful videos. I hope that these resources will soon be available to share. In the meantime, I encourage you to visit the ZI site and explore the list of Zonta Talks that are available, covering everything from Advocacy, International Programmes, Covid-19 Responses and more. 13.01.2022 This is round 14 of trying to bring about change. In 2018-2020 the majority of members in the majority of Area 2 Zonta Clubs supported this change.

13.01.2022 Finally, Adelaide Flinders were able to hold their first Face to Face meeting for 2020, and it was a wonderfully joyous event. Although the 'official' Board handover was managed through a Zoom meeting, we decided to hold a more personal handover where the 'baton' changed hands from Heather Smigiel to Lesley Siegloff. The new Board reflected here, Sarah Cunningham was unavailable, so her photo is shown as a separate image. With such a dedicated team, this biennium is going to see a concerted effort by all to ensure we continue to be successful.

12.01.2022 Please join us in welcoming the new Zonta International and Zonta International Foundation Boards, Zonta International Nominating Committee and Governors, who were just inducted to serve during the 2020-2022 Biennium. #ZontaEmpowers

10.01.2022 We are living through an epidemic one that has been affecting the lives of women and children across Australia. Like all epidemics it has victims and survivor...s. On Friday evening, inspiring victim-survivor, Rosie Batty, will have much more to say about how society has changed since she spoke these words in her acceptance speech for 2015 Australian of the Year. Join Rosie and White Ribbon Australia executive director, Brad Chilcott, to listen, learn and act to #EndGenderedViolence. This White Ribbon Night we are going to explore the future for this new chapter of our movement that is #MoreThanAPledge. This is a free online event. You need to book to obtain your Zoom link. 03.01.2022 President Lesley, three other club members and a guest, attended this outstanding Area 2 Advocacy meeting managed so professionally by Zonta Club of Noarlunga Southern Vales under COVID requirements. It was excellent to hear practical advice from the speakers. I encourage all members to attend the next Area 2 Advocacy meetings.

03.01.2022 Degrading, offensive slogans on Wicked Campervans will be banned under legislation introduced this week by the Marshall Liberal Government. This Bill ensures s...exist and discriminatory slogans are removed from our SA roads, and the entire Australian road network. It was not enough for SA to have its own legislation. So we have been advocating for a consistent national approach which will see every state have similar legislation to de-register vehicles with offensive material displayed. Without it, these disgusting slogans could remain legally on our SA roads, because they were simply on vans re-registered in another state. That wasn’t good enough for the Marshall Liberal Government. Thank you to Hon Corey Wingard and Stephan Knoll for your work on a national approach to tackle this issue. Thank you to Katrine Hildyard MP for her work on this issue.
