A must see for any fan and historian of South Australian original music from 1960-1990's. It sets the precedent for so much of what is happening currently in the SA (original) music scene. 10 classic songs by 10 classic SA artists re-interpreted by 10 up and coming SA singer songwriters. Interviews with all the original artists and the current crop of highly talented local original artists.

The AMC SAMHOF is a (not-for-profit) registered organization that relies on donations and volunteers to continue its great work. To coincide with and facilitate our ever-important position in the music community within S.A. we are issuing an initial membership allocation for 50 new members. Each new member is granted the same privileges as Inductees (who automatically are awarded a lifetime membershi...p upon Induction). These include invitations to Invite only and/or ticketed events. Annual membership is only $20 and will guarantee you an invite to our re-launch exhibition opening on Dec 20th at St.Paul's and admission to at least one ticketed/invite-only event within your membership year. 21.01.2022 In 2015 the Adelaide Music Collective combined with a number of Hall of Fame Inductees to produce an outstanding album called "Yesterday's Heroes' and which was recorded over 5 days at Mixmasters Studio. A documentary was made about the making of the album...this is the promo from it. Over thirty SA musicians spanning four generations were involved in the album. Links to the full documentary and all the artists involved plus the album songs will be posted in the coming days.

19.01.2022 Elaine Moore-Kurda and I had the honour and privilege of acknowledging the extraordinary Imelda Rose Bourke (Blackwell) for her contribution and pioneering career as an entertainer in S.A. during the 1940/50s...taking in radio, television, dance-halls and all forms of music in her day. A lovely family event held at her home earlier today... Imelda is mother to the amazing Louise Blackwell and late-great actor Paul Blackwell. Congratulations Imelda ... a recognition so richly deserved.

15.01.2022 Congratulations to the Largs Pier Hotel, which will be Inducted into the AMC SA Music Hall of Fame next month. The Largs is being recognised for its outstanding contribution to live original music as a venue in the 1970's where it gave rise to bands like Cold Chisel, The Angels, AC/DC, Split Enz, Little River Band, Skyhooks not to mention Billy Thorpe and many many more great artists. Its place in Adelaide music history is legendary and this award is befitting and presented in honour of its former status as a live venue and a bygone era of great achievements. The Induction will take place on Friday September 25th and due to Covid, will unfortunately be a closed and invite-only ceremony. The Largs Pier opened in 1882 and is a Heritage Listed building.

15.01.2022 Congratulations to the Lion Hotel which will be Inducted into the AMC SA Music Hall of Fame (as a venue), on Sunday March 22nd. The Lion has been part of the Adelaide live music scene as long as Adelaideans can remember and its great achievements during its heydays spanning three decades 1970-90's (as the Old Lion) are finally to be recognised. The Lion Hotel was established in 1881 as the North Adelaide Hotel, Lion in 1882, the Old Lion in 1972 and the Lion Hotel in 1998. The hotel is listed by the National Trust.

14.01.2022 Memory lane... ...Celebrating the Induction of the Semaphore Workers Club back in 2017. In hindsight, it has to have been the most unique and unusual Induction Ceremony to ever have taken place. The Cuban Ambassador to Australia flew in from Canberra especially for the occasion and was joined by the elusive radio announcer, Peter Goers from ABC Radio 891, a big fan of the club. The Club has been a live music venue for over 30 years endlessly championing musicians and live music every Friday and Sunday nights in that time. A great achievement. Former head, Dave Pearce, was at the club's helm for the majority of that period and is featured in the picture below.

Peter is somewhat of a legend in Australia let alone Adelaide, having worked with the biggest acts on the planet as a Tour/Production manager and everything else you can imagine in his esteemed roles...his legacy established since the 1980's, has been built on professionalism and commitment...and having a laugh (when deemed appropriate). 12.01.2022 Congratulations to Elaine & Jim Counihan who will be Inducted into the AMC SA Music Hall of Fame at the Largs Pier Induction next month. Elaine & Jim were instrumental in the success of Adelaide's burgeoning live (original) music scene in the 1970/80's at venues like the Largs Pier, The Arkaba, The Bridgeway, The Shandon Hotel and Adelaide Uni Bar. Elaine was known as 'Lady Largs' and fortunately is still with us to be honoured for her and her late husband's great contribution to Adelaide's pre-eminent musical legacy. It is fitting that their Inductions take place at the Largs where it all started back in 1973 for them. As mentioned in yesterday's Largs Pier Induction post...due to Covid, the ceremony will be a closed and invite-only event on Friday September 25th. Happy Birthday Elaine by the way. :)

11.01.2022 We at the AMC are excited to announce that the AMC SA Music Hall of Fame is expanding and moving within St.Paul's Creative Centre to the northern annexe in the coming weeks. This move will result in a newly curated and updated exhibition honouring SA Music and affiliated artists. To celebrate this exciting development there will be an official opening and re-launch on Friday, December 20th at which we will be Inducting Dave Graney and Clare Moore. Dave & Clare will then perform a post-induction gig at the 'The Jade adjoining St Paul's'....which will be a ticketed and invite-only event. Details will be forthcoming soon on how to be part of this wonderful evening.

The Elder Hall is one of Australia's finest concert buildings. Internationally renowned opera singer Thomas Edmonds, choral conductor and composer Carl Crossin and pioneering composer Tristram Cary (Posthumously) will be Inducted at a special event being hosted by the Elder Conservatorium at The Elder Hall on May 8th, 2020. 06.01.2022 Congratulations are in order to two great South Australians, internationally renowned opera singer Thomas Edmonds (AOM) and choral conductor, educator and composer Carl Crossin (OAM), both being inducted into the AMC SA Music Hall of Fame at the Elder Hall on November 20th. Further details will be released in the coming weeks leading up to the ceremony at which another great South Australian, heritage and media icon Keith Conlon, will be presiding.

06.01.2022 In 2015 over thirty S.A. musicians, spanning three generations, banded together over five days at the iconic Mixmaster Studios and where they paid tribute to ten legendary S.A. artists (Inductees) by re-recording ten of their classic (though sometimes lesser known) songs. The album in entitled 'Yesterday's Heroes'. The sixth featured song from the album is Banjo Jackson's stripped back and organic take on the Masters Apprentices classic from 1966 'War or Hands of Time' writte...n by Mick Bower. 06.01.2022 AMC SA Music Hall of Fame ... Official announcement re The Lion Hotel Induction Sunday 22nd March. The Lion Hotel management have decided to go ahead with the Induction ceremony tomorrow though with a restricted program and limiting numbers permitted to attend whilst adhering to new guidelines for social distancing. We at the AMC SA Hall of Fame will respect The Lion's wishes and professional response to the Induction and will facilitate the Induction as requested. The event commences at 2pm with the Induction ceremony being held at 3pm.

Late yesterday a collective decision was made to postpone the Induction ceremony and festivities, we apologise for any inconvenience caused at this late stage. Advance notice also on the postponement of The Elder Hall Induction which was to take place on May 8th. Both these ceremonies will be rescheduled to (hopefully) later in the year. All inductions have been suspended under the current climate and until further notice.
