24.01.2022 Last weekend we hosted our monthly free Repair Cafe! On the last Sunday of every month anyone can pop in to get something repaired (or help repair something, or just chill out and learn how to repair things!). It's a fantastic opportunity to get things working again and avoid unnecessary waste. A big thank you to all the volunteers and community members who got involved. Check out the pictures to see some of the items fixed last weekend and start brainstorming what you might ...be able to get working again! 24.01.2022 The next Adelaide Repair Cafe will take place on Sunday February 28th from 12-3pm! As you know, the repair cafe is now proudly hosted by Makerspace Adelaide (100 Franklin Street, across the road from The Joinery). Makerspace Adelaide will also be hosting a FREE Open Day for the whole day! No bookings required, please feel free to drop by any time (Open Day runs from 10-5pm, Repair Cafe only runs from 12-3pm).... Hope to see you there! Makerspace Adelaide is a nonprofit and volunteer-run community fabrication workshop providing affordable access to a variety of tools and equipment - from laser cutters and sewing machines to 3D printers and traditional hand tools. Along with access to tools there are volunteers to help members learn how to safely use the tools and equipment. All ages welcome, but children must be supervised at all times. Some of the facilities on offer include: - Laser Cutting - 3D Printing - Sewing/Textiles/Leather - Electronics & Robotics - STEM/STEAM Education - Arts & Crafts - Cosplay - Woodworking - Metalworking & Welding - CNC Router - Multimedia/Photography - Sustainability/Recycling/Upcycling For more information on Makerspace Adelaide please visit their website: https://makerspaceadelaide.org/

14.01.2022 *SCHOOL HOLIDAYS* Hand sew your own fantastic fish using donated and leftover fabric! This beginners textile workshop introduces young makers to the basics of hand sewing whilst creating their own soft toy fish.... This workshop will cover: -Threading a needle and tying a knot -Basic hand sewing stitches and techniques -How to fix a sewing mistake In addition to technical skills, this workshop encourages creativity by allowing young makers the freedom to customise their fish design as well as choose their own fabric and finishings. This workshop is suitable for care-givers and children, as well as mixed age family groups. No prior experience is necessary, assistance and instruction is available throughout the session. All sessions take place on-site at Makerspace Adelaide with small group sizes and direct instruction from an experienced textile maker, all fabric and sewing supplies are provided by Makerspace Adelaide. IMPORTANT INFO Places are limited and bookings are essential. A ticket is required for each young person participating , accompanying parents and care-givers do NOT need to purchase additional tickets. This session is suitable for makers aged 4 years and up; children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. PRICING $9 per child/young person (Price excludes booking fee) NOTE: One ticket is required for each young person participating, however accompanying parents/care-givers do not need to purchase tickets for themselves.

02.01.2022 Were looking forward to Makerspace Adelaide opening their doors right across the road from us! Adelaide is getting a makerspace in the CBD! Come to the open day at the new site, 100 Franklin Street Adelaide (opposite the bus depot), Sat 2 February 10am - 2pm, to find out more. The SA Makers Board invites you to be amongst the first to see the new home for makers and making in Adelaide.... We havent started redecorating or building the new workshops yet, as we want to hear what you think Makerspace Adelaide should be. The Open Day will be an opportunity to meet other makers, as well as the SA Makers Board, share your ideas for Makerspace Adelaide, and tell us about workshops and activities you might like to do or deliver in the future. Makerspace Adelaide Open Day is a family-friendly event and there will be displays and free activities for the young and the young at heart.
