25.01.2022 Last week was a frosty week for Adelaide, especially out at Murray Bridge Training Area. But that didn't stop these trainees from completing the Combined Arms Module (CAM) course. During this course they refined their marksmanship skills on the EF88 Service Rifle and F89 Light Support Weapon. Additionally they were qualified on several other weapons and ancillaries such as the MAG 58 machine gun, night fighting equipment, SL40 grenade launcher, F1 grenade, and M18A1 Claymore anti-personnel mine. #stayfrosty

25.01.2022 Congratulations to PTE Jason Seymour on being awarded an Army Bronze Commendation for demonstrating exemplary leadership, initiative and work ethic well above his worn rank in his role as Regimental Orderly Room Command Support Clerk this year! This was the culmination of a big week for PTE Seymour having also completed his Subject 1 for CPL. With the welcome easing of some border restrictions, Commander 8 Bde took the opportunity to present the award in person.

17.01.2022 Beersheba Company conducted foundation warfighting training at Murray Bridge over the weekend. The junior Officer Cadets practiced offensive operations at section level, conducting section harbours, patrolling, attacking and ambushing. The senior Officer Cadets conducted platoon planning activities to clear an enemy from an objective and defend within boundaries. These skills are just part of the Army Reserve Officer Commisioning Course teachings, enabling our people to plan, communicate and lead as All Corps platoon commanders.

16.01.2022 On the last training weekend of 2020 B Coy deployed to RAAF Edinburgh to conduct a series of training serials in the area. On Friday night, Officer Cadets deployed to the Close Training Area and practised occupation of a night harbour and setting routines in the field environment. On Saturday, they did Rehearsal of Concept drills for the conduct of an OP. A midday tactical pause had them drive over to A SQN 3/9 Light Horse (South Australian Mounted Rifles) for a bbq lunch a...nd an introduction to the unit and its capabilities. Throughout Saturday night the trainees returned to foundation warfighting and Infantry Minor Tactics to consolidate harbour routines and set an OP. On Sunday, the Officer Cadets developed skills in battle pairs using the urban facility on base before conducting a unit visit at 1 Armoured Regiment. There they were introduced to the Regiment’s equipment and capabilities. The logistics effort in support of mechanised operations was discussed whilst there. Thanks to A SQN 3/9 LH (SAMR) and 1 AR for their hospitality.

16.01.2022 Members of Adelaide Universities Regiment celebrated the recent graduation of Lieutenants Jerkic, Kirk and Murrell on Friday night at the combined AUR Graduation & Keswick Barracks Officers Mess Wine Evening. These new Officers were able to take advantage of back to back training blocks in an effort to reduce interstate travel during COVID-19, completing their final training block at the end of May at Holsworthy Barracks. Shortly after commissioning, two of them were deployed... as part of Operation COVID Assist and supporting South Australian Government in their efforts to control the spread and keep South Australians safe. Commander 8 Brigade, Brigadier Casey, unable to physically attend the celebrations due to quarantine requirements, was able to crossover live from Sydney to address the function and congratulate the new Officers. In his last graduation function as the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel McFarlane reminisced on his time commanding the regiment and discussed the importance of the role the new Officers will fulfil. Brigadier Williams (Retired), President of the AUR Association, presented graduation gifts to each Officer and awarded a Sam Browne belt for the best performing graduate to Lieutenant Kirk. The Officers were then formally presented to representatives from their new units. To all who attended, we trust you had an enjoyable evening. Thank you to the AUR Association, the Keswick Barracks Officers Mess Committee, the 10/27 Battalion Royal South Australian Regiment Band, and Keswick Cafe for your efforts in organising a great evening.

15.01.2022 Over the weekend, members of AUR participated in the annual Simpson Trophy shooting competition. The Simpson Trophy is one of the world's oldest shooting competitions, celebrating its 130th year. The competition consisted of engaging targets between 100 and 300m in a variety of shooting positions. As opposed to a target shoot, the competition is designed to test combat shooting skills and behaviours. AUR entered two teams and achieved a 3rd place out 16 teams from various Defence Force units in South Australia. Well done to all the members that participated.

13.01.2022 Last night, AUR hosted the Commander of 8th Brigade - Training - Australian Army, Brigadier Brendan Casey during an online virtual visit. As part of this visit, the BDE Commander and CO AUR were able to issue three Bronze Commendations to members of staff who's professionalism and hard work has contributed to Army capability by ensuring that Officer Cadets and Recruits received the highest level of training before progressing within their Army Reserve Careers. Congratulations to SGT Smith, SGT Emanuel, and WO2 Law.

13.01.2022 Last Saturday Officer Cadets of Beersheba Company utilised one of Army's simulation centres to practice warfighting skills that would otherwise be limited to field training. After learning how to use Virtual Battle Space (VBS), they undertook serials to practice coordinating a defensive battle, section patrolling and conducting a quick attack on an enemy outpost. Meanwhile staff took the opportunity to look at other capabilities with a view to expanding the use of simulation into our planning exercises known in the Army as a Tactical Exercise Without Troops.

12.01.2022 AUR welcomes Adelaide’s newest Lieutenants. Having departed Adelaide to do Training Block 2 at the start of COVID19, these three trainees stuck it out in New South Wales and completed all of the modules required to Commission as an Army Reserve Officer. After a period of isolation upon return to Adelaide, they will be marching in to 10/27 RSAR and 144 SIG SQN to start their part time careers as Platoon Commanders and Troop Leaders. Well done gentlemen!!!!

12.01.2022 AUR’s Adelaide based Officer Cadets linked in with members of 6/13 Light Battery, 9 Regt, Royal Australian Artillery for a practical on All Arms Call for Fire. Whilst the opportunity to practice call for fire in a controlled and COVID 19 safe environment exposed the trainees to a key combat skill, the second order effects included an exposure to combined arms effects and maybe piqued an interest for a future career path for some. Thanks 6/13 for your hospitality and sharing your expertise.

11.01.2022 During Exercise Isurava Officer Cadets from Beersheba Company conducted navigation practice in Mount Crawford Native Forest Reserve. The activity consisted of navigation by day and by night through dense vegetation and undulating terrain to reach several checkpoints. Various activities were conducted at checkpoints to practice basic soldier skills including radio communication, first aid & casualty evacuation.

10.01.2022 Officer trainees in Hobart recently conducted training in the art of describing terrain and terrain effects by practising the delivery of ground briefs. (What a superb place to practice BTW). Whilst they sound simple, producing a coherent description of how geographical features and vegetation might effect your plans can be a tricky skill to master. Whilst observing socially distant measures cadets were put through their paces physically with a session in the gym later in th...e weekend. All of these activities are aimed at making the Cadet’s experience at Duntroon in the final phase of their commissioning just a little bit easier. Good drills Tasmania Platoon!!!!

09.01.2022 AUR staff assigned to Op COVID-19 Assist present the North Adelaide Local Health Network CEO with a small gift as a memento of their time embedded within the organisation.

05.01.2022 This afternoon, staff at AUR conducted the 8th Brigade Chief Clerk Challenge. The session was demanding, but our members put in 100% effort. #fightingfit
