23.01.2022 There is a recognition that people from all walks, in all circumstances, can struggle with some psychological fallout at this point in time. As such, we enjoyed reading The Hon. Julia Gillard’s address around remaking Australia’s mental health and suicide prevention systems, via her directorship at #BeyondBlue. Digital services should be seen not as a replacement for the traditional ones delivered by our extraordinary GPs and mental health professionals but an enhancement.... The true integration of face-to-face, telehealth and digital options would be a huge stride towards a system that sees the whole person, not just a collection of symptoms in need of a quick fix. We heartily recommend reading her full address, which reflects conversations we’ve had at Advance Healthcare around how we can best continue personalised care while ensuring we anticipate the needs of our #patients. It’s important for #healthcare providers to be dynamic during this time, continually adjusting the way we operate in order to effectively shape our services around our #community. http://ow.ly/3WuX50FYjFx #mentalhealth #suicideprevention #psychology #physiotherapy #telehealth #healthprovider #covid
21.01.2022 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update 9/4/20 To all our patients, referrers and payers in these challenging times An update that Advance Healthcare remains open for face to face treatment of people with musculoskeletal problems including multi-disciplinary pain management. We are reviewing on a daily basis, updates from Australian Government Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), the Commonwealth's Chief Medical Officer and Victoria's Chief Health Officer. All our st...aff are certified under the Department of Health COVID-19 infection control training. This information enables us to minimise the risk to our patients and staff by strict clinic hygiene standards (eg hand washing and surface sanitising between each patient) including eliminating physical contact with other patients and clinic staff. No staff member or patient with any symptoms of cold/flu or having recently returned from overseas is allowed to enter the clinic. We also offer fully functional telehealth services using PhysiTrack (for individual) and GoToMeeting (for group sessions) platforms to provide a secure and professional telehealth medium. These services are available for metro and regional patients for pain physician, physiotherapy and psychology services funded by: - Private paying patients (private health cover rebates apply) - Medicare funded patients with a care plan (bulk billed) including Mental Health Care Plans for psychology - All WorkSafe/TAC patients including multi-disciplinary pain management programs On referral for telehealth services (medical, physiotherapy or psychology) our dedicated administrative team will contact the patient to set up telehealth on their mobile phone or computer browser. Then they receive an emailed link before the appointment which they simply click on to commence the session. Our patients have a need to continue their treatment in the pursuit of reduced pain and a better quality of life; despite the barriers COVID-19 and lockdown create. Advance Healthcare is committed to providing a safe environment that enables this to happen. You can keep up to date with our services with relation to COVID-19 on this website page which is updated whenever a change occurs. All the best and take care AProf Jon Ford (Clinical and Managing Director)
21.01.2022 #funfact Tennis elbow rarely occurs in tennis players! The ironically named condition (also called common extensor origin tendinopathy or lateral epicondylitis) involves pain experienced on the outside of the elbow with activities such as gripping or lifting. Tennis elbow generally responds well to physiotherapy, so obtaining the correct diagnosis and treatment with a physiotherapist will get you back to doing the activities you love as quickly as possible ... 14.01.2022 A survey conducted by patient advocacy group Chronic Pain Australia has found 67 per cent of the respondents experienced a benefit from the pandemic pivot to telehealth. As pain management is our focus, we are pleased that this will prompt further formal evaluation of telehealth's effectiveness on chronic pain management outcomes. Telehealth was a top priority for Advance Healthcare even prior to 2020, because we recognised that it would rapidly evolve the healthcare service... offering over the next 5 years. Of course, COVID-19 caused us as it did with most health providers to pivot even more quickly. Whilst this was challenging, towards the end of 2020 and now into 2021, we are finding it has allowed us to provide a more flexible service and access patients in areas that we otherwise may have missed. It has been an adjustment for Advance and our valued patients, but the response has been overwhelmingly positive. This article reflects our experience, and we look forward to telehealth being an ongoing and important part of the services we offer. https://www.smh.com.au//the-silver-lining-for-chronic-pain #healthcare #painmanagement #telehealth #covid #chronicpain #pain Chronic Pain Australia

01.01.2022 We’ve noticed that we’re being exposed to a lot of media coverage focussing on people who are not following the COVID-safe strategies recommended by our health experts. The result of seeing such stories is often that we encounter emotions such as frustration, anger, indignation, fear, distress or sadness. The question is, how do you manage your negative reactions to these stories, your own emotions, and your feelings towards those not perceived as doing the right thing? T...o preserve your mental wellbeing in this complex time, we love these strategies from the Australian Psychological Society. http://ow.ly/9VbG50FPp1Q #psychology #psychologist #mentalhealth #copingstrategies #wellbeing #mentalhealthawareness #covid #healthcare
