25.01.2022 Thanks #JonGordon for reminding us that failure is a path to growth and doing things better. I felt I had failed when co-facilitating in a master class. In fact, I enhanced my facilitation practice and learnt valuable lessons.

25.01.2022 As many of you know, I refer to #JonGordon and his work in my leadership training. Below are his reminders for 2019. As you look at these, think about what are you already doing well - then consider what you would like to do more of and practice this, creating a new leadership habit. May yours be a wonderful year.

25.01.2022 When I can live and work according to my values, I can give my best, dig deep and go beyond what is expected. When I feel that my values are compromised, I have internal struggles and this takes energy away from what I can give. Love this message about Integrity from Brene Brown. #livemyvalues #integirty #courage

25.01.2022 Leaders can only lead well if they have followers - people in their teams who come along and work with the leader to do the work. A leader with no followers will be out the front with no work or the wrong work being undertaken.

24.01.2022 I was recently very fortunate in being able to spend time at The Royal Botanic Gardens in Cranbourne, Victoria. Seeing the variety of plants for different situations in gardens reminded me of the differences in people that many call Behavioural or Social Styles. Bolton & Bolton remind us that we need all styles in our workplaces because the skill sets of each style differ - for example (at the simplest level), some people are more task focussed, some more people focussed. Lets all value the styles of others and appreciate what they bring to a project, a situation or a challenge.

24.01.2022 Well done Noritta Morseu-Diop for organising another Traditional Knowledge Conference. You are so passionate about what you do and such a great leader.

23.01.2022 Clarity - an absolutely essential ingredient for every team and staff member. Do the people you lead and manage know where they are going? Can they read the road signs? Can they prioritise in busy times? Do you check in with them regularly, supporting them to navigate and recognising their abilities?

22.01.2022 From Trust to Rust and back to Trust Trust is so important in all our relationships. We are all human and we do or say things that impact on how others trust us. I am particularly aware of this as I facilitate groups or lead training. #StevenCovey writes about 13 high trust behaviours of which he picks out 3 as key - keep commitments, listen first and extend trust to others (having done some assessment of their trustworthiness). As I think and react quickly, I am constantly reminding myself to listen first. How are you keeping all the letters together in Trust?

21.01.2022 So true Barbara. This applies to us as facilitators, to those of us leading planning, to managers engaging their staff and to anyone working with and leading people.

21.01.2022 Simple steps get results

20.01.2022 Monday nights Australian Story on ABC TV was inspirational. I truly admire Pastor Graham Longs leadership and capacity to motivate others and create a wonderful Community at Wayside Chapel in inner Sydney. For any who missed this program http://www.abc.net.au/austory/leading-the-way/10129182

19.01.2022 Thanks to Jon Gordon who always shares simple messages to keep us focussed on what is important.

18.01.2022 I love Brene Browns thinking and teachings about vulnerability. Even if we are feeling vulnerable as leaders for whatever reason, she is also reminding us that we dont need to be alone. I go into agencies and businesses to teach leadership skills and am always anxious before I get going. However, I also work with people whom I trust and I feel like "we are in this together".

18.01.2022 Thank you Jon Gordon for reminding us of the power of being positive. If you change the dots on the i s to love hearts, you can add in caring for team members to ways of working within a team or group.

18.01.2022 Thanks Tanmay Vora for clarity around the 3 areas of focus for leaders - especially the need for inner focus.

16.01.2022 Early notice of this upcoming conference in Brisbane.

16.01.2022 The Best of Leadership

16.01.2022 Well said Jon. We can all play a part in raising the bar - one person at a time joining others. Make a choice to lead & be excellent whilst living your values.

14.01.2022 I work with organisations to develop their vision, purpose and values. We plan together and set up actions to be taken to step towards the vision. However, even with much looking ahead, choosing the destination and the road to be travelled, we cannot always know what will happen around a corner. Being willing to travel around that corner and lead through what comes up, using your values as your guide, is a mark of leadership. May you have great journeys.

13.01.2022 As leaders and managers we are often caring about others at work and at home. Just a timely reminder to care for yourselves as well. We are no use to others when our batteries are low or flat. Take care

12.01.2022 Well said Karen Flanagan.

11.01.2022 We can all benefit from the positivitea of those around us and their smiles - makes a work day go so much better.

10.01.2022 Kindness gives so much to others & gives back to us as well.

10.01.2022 It's official - the AFN 2020 Conference will be on 28-30 October 2020 at the Landing at Dockside, Brisbane. Put it in your diary early. Registrations open soon.

09.01.2022 Thanks Barbara for sharing - love the colour that the chalk adds.

08.01.2022 During National Reconciliation Week, take some time to watch this video. Thank you to everyone who participated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHVbVBLlhCM

08.01.2022 So true Jon and simply expressed. Thank you.

07.01.2022 Having recently spent some time in Thailand with some elephants, they are gentle, calm, intelligent and yes large! When we are working to resolve things and move on, lets be courageous and name the large elephant like issue, discuss it, find solutions and move forwards - just like the elephants do with such grace for their size.

05.01.2022 Are you an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person with ambitions in the cultural heritage and creative sectors? Were offering six people a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Apply by 24 December 2018 to be part of our Encounters Fellowships Program: bit.ly/NMA_ef2018

05.01.2022 It is that time early in the New Year to think and feel ahead, connecting into who you are and where you wish to be by December 2019. I look ahead to the journey I wish to travel and include a mix of personal and professional. I have moved from paper to doing this activity digitally and placing the image as the screen saver on my ipad. Wishing you all special journeys in 2019 and may our paths cross.

04.01.2022 As Tanmay Vora says A leader must have courage to make decisions. This is echoed by many others and I see this quality in those I work with. In these times of constant change, there are frequently decisions to be made, with many potential outcomes to weigh up. Taking into account the facts or circumstances that led to a decision and its impact and then actually making and communicating the decision separates leaders from those who go around in circles.

03.01.2022 This is true in life and also true for the way in which we work with, lead and manage other people. As many people say, leadership is an inside job - so lets all work on ourselves every day and see what a difference this makes to you and those you work with.

01.01.2022 Giving women time & recognition & strength to protect themselves & their children.

01.01.2022 I have been ever so fortunate to work with so many of you. We have had fun, created wonderful colour and movement, and, journeyed forwards together. Sending good wishes to you all ... Enjoy ...
