09.01.2022 Let's discuss asthma and allergies Asthma and hay fever (allergic rhinitis) are closely connected, as around 4 out of 5 people with asthma have allergic rhinitis. The cells lining the nasal passages are the same type found lining the airways of the lungs. The nose is considered the ‘gatekeeper’ to the lungs, so anything that causes inflammation in the nose can cause inflammation in the lungs and vice versa. Having effective treatment for both the nose and lungs, and being w...ell informed and prepared for the start of spring can make dealing with these seasonal conditions a lot more manageable. People with asthma have sensitive airways in their lungs that react to ‘allergens/allergic triggers’ causing a flare up of asthma symptoms including: shortness of breath and coughing, especially at night or in the early morning; chest tightness and wheezing, or coughing after activity. In a flare-up, the muscles around the airways squeeze tight, the airways swell and become narrow and there is more mucus produced in the airways. These all make it harder to breathe. An asthma attack is a medical emergency, so it’s important to follow a person’s Asthma Action Plan, and if necessary, administer Asthma First Aid and call 000. 07.01.2022 Gastroenteritis (gastro) is a highly infectious viral infection that causes diarrhoea (runny, watery poo) and sometimes vomiting. Symptoms can also include fever, stomach pain, headache and muscle aches. Gastro is more common and severe in babies and young children. Babies under six months old can become dehydrated very easily and always need to be seen by a doctor if they have gastro. Most children do not need to take any medicine for gastro; however, it is important tha...t they drink plenty of fluids, such as oral rehydration fluids to avoid becoming dehydrated. As gastro is contagious, children with gastro must be kept away from other children as much as possible until the diarrhoea has stopped, and washing hands thoroughly with soap and water after contact with your child (particularly before feeding and after nappy changes, or using the toilet) is the most effective way to prevent the spread. Do not hesitate to take your child to the doctor if they are becoming dehydrated, have bad stomach pain or you are worried. If you have any questions, remember you can always ask our Pharmacists.

She also adores staging Bill's photo shoots, she is the brain behind many of his interesting campaigns (she also has many plans for 2021). ... A couple of fun facts about Bec is she a country girl at heart and she is the of organising. We're so lucky to have Bec as a part of our team!

06.01.2022 This year has most certainly been an interesting one for all! However, one positive was the ongoing community spirit that was within High Wycombe. When we were in the midst of the pandemic we saw and heard so many different stories about people helping each other. From someone helping the neighbor with the shopping to another community member organising a donation run for the homeless. We are so proud to be a part of the High Wycombe community and we love all our customers ... That’s why this November we are running the Local Hero competition. We would like to reward one local High Wycombe resident for their contribution to 6057 in 2020. 05.01.2022 Over the weekend we got together as a team for our Xmas party! We went and try the escape rooms! We were in a room together and we had to work collaboratively as a team to try get out. It was lots of fun and so lovely to all catch up as a team outside of the pharmacy

05.01.2022 Fever is common in children and occurs when a child's temperature is 38c or higher and is a way for the body to fight infection from bacteria or a virus. It' s not always dangerous and does not always indicate a serious illness. However if your child is under three months or shows signs of prolonged or worsening illness, it's important to consult a doctor even if they have no other symptoms. If your child is unwell or unhappy with pain or fever there are things you can do to ...make them feel better, such as; over the counter medications, frequent small sips of fluids and lots of cuddles and reassurance.
