23.01.2022 Daily Devotional Mark 15:1620 (NIV): The soldiers led Jesus away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium) and called together the whole company of soldiers. 17 They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him. 18 And they began to call out to him, Hail, king of the Jews! 19 Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him. 20 And when they had mocked him, they... took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him. This is a passage we can often race past. It’s hard to read. Today though I want to challenge you to go back and read it again. Slowly. The psalms use a word. Selah. It means to pause. To consider what had been said. In scripture we should selah regularly. Especially in the final chapters of the gospel accounts. We need to see Jesus and understand what he went through for broken people. Sinful people. People who would reject him. Jesus endured this for all people. Not just those who were following him at the time. This sacrifice is for all time and for all people. The benefit of his sacrifice is our choice though. Have you chosen the gift of Jesus? Do you realise what he went through to give you this gift? Over the next few days I want to encourage you to Selah. To pause and think on these scriptures. Pause and think about Jesus. Who do you see and what does this mean for you?

22.01.2022 Daily Devotional John 4:1526 (NIV): The woman said to him, Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water. 16 He told her, Go, call your husband and come back. 17 I have no husband, she replied. Jesus said to her, You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true. ... 19 Sir, the woman said, I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem. 21 Woman, Jesus replied, believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth. 25 The woman said, I know that Messiah (called Christ) is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us. 26 Then Jesus declared, I, the one speaking to youI am he. Today I am drawn to verses 25-26 This woman who was an outcast in many ways knew a simple truth. When Messiah comes - he will explain everything! This is faith. Even though she isn’t fully accepted (more tolerated) by her community because of her lifestyle. She believes and Jesus who could have spoken to anyone in that village. Let’s say the influencers of the day - He decides to meet her and... explain and reveal himself. We should be careful about who we judge, barely tolerate and/or exclude. Because a) we don’t know what’s going on in their hearts and b) Jesus came for all. For everyone. Let’s not exclude those Jesus came to save. Prayer: Our loving God. Thank you for this divine appointment with a woman at a well. Thank you that you choose to reveal yourself to the least of us. Humble us that we may see you more clearly we pray in the name of our saviour Jesus. Amen.

11.01.2022 Daily Devotional As I read through this passage today there were a few things that jumped out for me. And as I prepared to share I realised that this passage needed to be read slowly. See the pain, the rejection, see the spectators looking for some kind of show. See the end of a religious system and see a centurion who sees something that changes him. What do you see and why does it matter? Mark 15:3339 (NIV): At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the ...afternoon. 34 And at three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani? (which means My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?). 35 When some of those standing near heard this, they said, Listen, he’s calling Elijah. 36 Someone ran, filled a sponge with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to take him down, he said. 37 With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last. 38 The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. 39 And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how he died, he said, Surely this man was the Son of God! Lord we are so sorry that we gloss over your death on the cross. The torture, the suffering and the pain. You went through these for us. Each and every one of us. Help us to see and understand and accept. Let us remember. Because as we spend time seeing this we will be changed. Amen.

09.01.2022 Just 5 days till we meet up. Are you excited? Our panel cant wait to take your questions in real time. Tune in from 7:30pm AEDT. #adventistwomenaus #seventhdayadventists

08.01.2022 Daily Devotional Mark 15:615 (NIV): 6 Now it was the custom at the festival to release a prisoner whom the people requested. 7 A man called Barabbas was in prison with the insurrectionists who had committed murder in the uprising. 8 The crowd came up and asked Pilate to do for them what he usually did. 9 Do you want me to release to you the king of the Jews? asked Pilate, 10 knowing it was out of self-interest that the chief priests had handed Jesus over to him. 11 But t...he chief priests stirred up the crowd to have Pilate release Barabbas instead. 12 What shall I do, then, with the one you call the king of the Jews? Pilate asked them. 13 Crucify him! they shouted. 14 Why? What crime has he committed? asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, Crucify him! 15 Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. He had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified. As we continue our reading of Mark today I want you to notice verses 10, 14 and 15. It’s one thing to know that is right and true. It’s another thing to do it wouldn’t you say? I guess what challenges me today is what is the point of knowing the truth if we don’t live it. If it doesn’t transform our lives. What’s the point of saying I’m a Christian if I don’t look different at all from the world. If I don’t embody the values and life of Jesus? It’s a challenging thought I think. However what I see in Pilate today is someone who saw truth and yet still bowed down to the mob, to the ways of the world. My prayer today is that we can stand for Jesus.

08.01.2022 Daily Devotional John 4:2738 (NIV): Just then his disciples returned and were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no one asked, What do you want? or Why are you talking with her? 28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 29 Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah? 30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him. 31 Meanwhile his disciples urged him, Rabbi, eat s...omething. 32 But he said to them, I have food to eat that you know nothing about. 33 Then his disciples said to each other, Could someone have brought him food? 34 My food, said Jesus, is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. 35 Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. 36 Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. 37 Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. 38 I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor. The disciples. Reading about them at times I wonder what it would have been like. They did life for 3+ years with the Messiah. What they must have seen, heard, learnt. My mind races. Imagine how much we would understand if we too had walked with Jesus. Hang on. I wonder though. Would we? Because they didn’t. So often they are asking questions amongst themselves. Who is he talking to? Why what does she want? Where did he get food? When did he get it? Questions. Who-what-where-when-why. Questions are not bad. We learn through asking questions. In other examples we have them asking Jesus to explain the parables. In this instance- They are just asking the wrong people. And there are times we do the same! We can bring our questions to Jesus. There are times he will answer even when we haven’t asked him directly. Let’s be willing to come with our questions. We don’t need to hide behind them. Prayer Our loving father. We thank you that in Jesus we can bring all our questions. That there is nothing we can’t ask. Amen.

01.01.2022 Daily devotional Today as you read this passage, I want to invite you again to Selah. To pause and to let each verse soak in. This will be hard, not to race past. To avoid seeing the terrible violence done to Jesus. Our Lord, our king. But to see him truly, we must linger here. We must allow our hearts to be broken and transformed. How can we accept the gift if we don’t understand firstly how bad we need it and secondly how much it cost. Mark 15:2132 (NIV): A certain man ...from Cyrene, Simon, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was passing by on his way in from the country, and they forced him to carry the cross. 22 They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means the place of the skull). 23 Then they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. 24 And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get. 25 It was nine in the morning when they crucified him. 26 The written notice of the charge against him read: the king of the jews. 27 They crucified two rebels with him, one on his right and one on his left. [28] 29 Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying, So! You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, 30 come down from the cross and save yourself! 31 In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him among themselves. He saved others, they said, but he can’t save himself! 32 Let this Messiah, this king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe. Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him. See more
