10.01.2022 Occupation ceilings for the year 2020-21 Department of Home Affairs has announced the Occupation ceilings for the year 2020-21. This is the limit on how many Expression of Interest (EOIs) can be invited for skilled migration from an occupation group to ensure that the skilled migration program is not dominated by a small number of occupations. Occupation ceiling values are based on a percentage of stock employment figures for each occupation. Employment figures are provided... by the Australian Bureau of Statistics and represent the number of people employed in Australia in each occupation. Once this limit is reached, no further invitations for that occupation group will be issued for that program year. The table below shows the occupation ceilings for the 2020-2021 program year for major occupations on the list of eligible skilled occupations by four-digit ANZSCO code unit group with comparison to previous year. Please note that occupation ceilings do not apply to State or Territory Nominated, Employer Sponsored or Business Innovation and Investment visa subclasses. For pro rata occupations the major impact is for Accountants with decline by 64% (From 2746 to 1000) and major increment is by 68% for Industrial, Mechanical and Production Engineers (From 1600 to 2682).
