23.01.2022 Fantastic efforts by the Animal Emergency Centre team volunteering with Adelaide Koala Rescue to help the victims of the Cudlee Creek fires. Nothing shows greater community spirit and team work than banding together and helping in times like this. Congratulations on all of your hard work to all of the staff that were involved from Animal Emergency Centre, you are making a real difference to those that cant defend themselves from these devastating fires.
23.01.2022 Metric measuring of social distancing proving a bit tricky to imagine? Its simple*... 3 Great Danes OR 4 Dalmatians (with whipping, wagging tails)... OR 12 chihuahuas (or a bakers dozen for extra safety ) Youre welcome *May or may not be terribly inaccurate.

22.01.2022 Today is RU OK? Day, as well as World Suicide Prevention Day. These days go hand in hand, for tackling mental health, smashing stigmas and preventing suicide within our workplaces, families and communities. Apart from stopping and recognising the importance of today with in-clinic discussions and treats, the Animal Emergency Centre also has: - In-house Mental Health First Aid officers in every clinic - 24 hour free professional mental health help through the Employee Assistan...ce Program - Free monthly 'Download' meetings with a trained veterinary psychologist - A zero tolerance approach to abuse from clients - and, membership with veterinary mental health charity Love Your Pet Love Your Vet We hope that every pet owner will help to make our hospitals a better place to come to work too, by being respectful and courteous in every interaction with our team mates, even when things get really stressful. We all come to work to do the best job possible. Strike up a conversation with someone today and ask RU OK?

21.01.2022 Our partners at the Petbarn Foundation are providing over $1.2m to animal welfare organisations via a combination of funds, food and supplies to evacuation centres in emergency sites and our vets volunteering their time to help Australias pets and native animals affected by the bushfires. This will help organisations like the RSPCA, Vets Beyond Borders, WIRES, The Rescue Collective, Sydney Dingo Rescue and many more to continue the work that is so desperately needed. For details on organisations we are supporting, click on the link below. We are thankful to our incredible pet community who have reached out to us and asked how they can support. You can help by pledging your support and donating online or by visiting one of our centres. Donate here: http://bit.ly/2QWyxjn

17.01.2022 + Pet Health Warning + We have seen an increase in Guinea Pigs suffering from heat stroke this summer. All rodents are susceptible to even small changes in temperature, but the typical thick coat of the Cavy or Guinea Pig makes it difficult to disperse heat. Cavys should be kept inside in air conditioning or in front of fans, which ice bricks wrapped in tea towels as an option for them to lie on. Cold vegetables can also provide cooling from the inside. ... Guinea Pigs can deteriorate quickly and any changes to behaviour in hot weather should be taken seriously. See more

01.01.2022 Feeling helpless with the bushfires raging down south? Us too. Thats why weve weve teamed up with our colleagues down at Animal Referral Hospital Canberra to donate pet food for all species. This will be distributed by the ARH crew directly to the folks that need it. Our AEC team has lead the way with donations already and we invite you to bring dry and tinned food for dogs, cats, birds and pocket pets (dont forget rabbits are legal down there ) into our Kedron... and Woolloongabba hospitals for distribution to evacuated pets. As we cannot guarantee cold transportation, we are not able to accept raw or frozen foods sorry. We have also organised in excess of $4000 worth of veterinary supplies to be donated and shipped to where its needed most too. Thank you to everyone who has already donated - we have been moved by your generosity and passion to help the animals.
