25.01.2022 The barrel roll is an aerobatic maneuver in which an aircraft performs a helical roll around its relative forward motion, with the nose ending up pointed along the original flightpath. It is performed by doing a combination of a roll and a loop. The manoeuvre was first performed in 1905 by accident in a glider during an aviation expo. Since then, the barrel roll has become a staple at aerobatic competitions, air force training and appearing in almost every aviation film made.... We will start with the Aileron Roll, which is an aerobatic manoeuvre in which an aircraft does a full 360 revolution about its longitudinal axis. The YAK 52 can execute this complete roll in 2 seconds. When executed properly, there is no appreciable change in altitude and the aircraft exits the maneuver on the same heading as it entered.
