23.01.2022 Hi all, PURCHASING YOUR TICKETS In this aim of safety, ease and team management protection we have made it that ALL junior tickets will be purchased through the PHOENIX TEAM APP ... ****** NOT BBA****** These are located in the events area of TEAM APP and all you have to do is click you team, put your name in and pay. At this stage we only have Monday & Tuesdays tickets up for purchase. Unfortunately for multiple children you have to pay multiple times but I believe this is far better for ALL our members and Team Managers That on Monday, Tuesday & Fridays could have be left with 4 players trying to pay a $65.40 BBA sheet payment. Cheers Troy President

23.01.2022 IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING FACE MASKS Hi all,... At a Presidents/BBA meeting last night, many issues were discussed. Obviously the Face Mask issue was raised and discussed. As of Monday it will be Mandatory to wear masks as stated by Government direction. It was agreed by ALL CLUBS that we HIGHLY RECOMMENDED we all start this as of NOW So for tonight (Friday) & tomorrow (Saturday) games, I personally ask all Phoenix parents, players, coaches & team managers to wear masks as outlined below. Thanks in Advance Troy McCarthy BASKETBALL VICTORIA UPDATE Face Masks Face masks are covered on page three of the Return to Sport Guidelines and the summary document. These were updated this week to reflect our position. Now that masks are mandatory across all of Victoria, for those associations in regional Victoria who are operating all of the basketball community including team officials, parents, staff and all athletes over 12 years of age must wear face masks on arrival and departure from the venue, as well as inside the venue, except for participants or officials during competition. This is optional, but is allowed provided they adhere to the Return to Sport Guidelines. Does this mean all people in a stadium (in Regional Victoria) should wear a mask at all times parents, staff, players and volunteers? Yes Parents, staff, volunteers, team officials must wear a mask at all times. Players do not need to wear a mask (but they are able to at their discretion). Do referees need to wear a mask? No, referees do not need to wear a face mask, however they may do so, if they choose to. We have confirmed with our insurers that an injury relating from the wearing of a mask, i.e. a broken finger from being caught in a mask, would be covered like any other personal injury, subject to the conditions of the policy. That being said, the concept of masks having elastic ear loops and being made of soft materials is designed to limit that risk also. All of our guidelines and tools can be found here. While todays COVID-19 case numbers can make us feel a little deflated, we must keep doing the right things, stay engaged and connected as a community to ensure we get through this as soon as we can. Best Regards, Nick Honey Basketball Victoria CEO

21.01.2022 Hi all, fixtures are now up for Friday & Saturday So we are GUNS GO for those competitions.... From here I want to talk from me the person: I am a dad, a husband, I am self employed and have loved participating in sports my whole life. I have really dedicated my life to supporting my children and any others that are in my bubble to be - who they can be! At this stage I extend myself to you all (my extended Phoenix Family) Our committee have been super supportive and are the reason why we have been the only big club training. It is at this point I raise a concern - last night an opposition lady was on the scorebench and had brought her own mask she put it on took it off put it on, took it off I asked what she was doing - she advised she wanted to wear it but was worried what other people would think - I told her to put it on Worry about yourself. Why I am highlighting this - is - the committee have some hard decisions to make regarding training to continue or not - at this stage I am not sure - but 100% respect all decisions regarding our outcome. If you look to the media there are (what feels like) 50 million experts on both sides of the spectrum - - but the one that matters to me is YOURS. If you wish your child to continue playing basketball - do so! If you wish your child to continue training (if supplied) do so! But if you choose to do neither you have my support. With decisions like these being made I ask all to have RESPECT for each others stance and focus on yours. I apologize for this long winded rant - but felt like a statement needed to be made. Again please stay safe Regards Troy

20.01.2022 PLEASE CHECK THE TRAINING ROSTER ON TEAM APP... SOME TRAINING TIMES HAVE CHANGED

19.01.2022 The Ballarat Sports Events Centre and Minerdome will soon re-open with local Basketball & Netball Competitions to commence across the venues. It is important that everyone is fully aware of the protocol to ensure the safety of teams and staff, but to also keep our competitions running.

These are located in the events area of TEAM APP and all you have to do is click your team, put your name in and pay. All junior sides are now up under the events section in the team app for purchase Unfortunately for multiple children you have to pay multiple times but I believe this is far better for ALL our members and Team Managers That on Monday, Tuesday & Fridays could have been left with 4 players trying to pay a $65.40 BBA sheet payment. 11.01.2022 Just some info you MUST abide by for your return. I have been told that both Friday night and Saturday competitions are looking to proceed. With that in mind some simple rules for parents.... Only 1 parent per child playing is allowed to enter the stadium. Siblings are NOT considered as the plus 1. If you are a coach or team manager of a playing child. you are the plus 1. NO other parent is allowed to enter. You are not allowed to float around the stadium to look at other games. You must leave the stadium at the completion of a game even if another sibling has a game straight after. so enter.leave.enter These are NOT Phoenix rules but rather the BBA.

10.01.2022 Taking your face mask or covering with you is just as important as collecting your phone and wallet when you walk out the door. You must wear a face covering wh...en you leave your home, including when travelling on public transport or in a car with people outside your household. More information: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/face-masks-covid-19

06.01.2022 Masks are not mandatory, but please dont be afraid to protect yourself...

06.01.2022 CLUB FEES Just a reminder with the season now underway if you have not paid your club fees can you please do so by the end of the week. If you are having trouble paying please contact the committee by email on [email protected] to make payment arrangements.

03.01.2022 MEMO FROM THE BBA TO ALL CLUBS Impact of Stage 3: Sports Competitions and Venues: All venues will close again today and all basketball and netball competitions have been suspended effective immediately.... Both venues are closed to everyone but staff effective immediately until at least September 13th. I spoke with both Geelong and Bendigo Associations last night and both have also suspended activity immediately. The timing of the next season will be discussed with all clubs late August and if it is likely if we cannot resume until after the school holidays then we should consider reverting to our normal competition cycle from Oct to March rules permitting. The Board and our Sports Team want to thank you for your commitment to getting all our junior members competitions back up and running. We really appreciate the time and effort you have all contributed to helping us re-launch our operations and to offer our members the chance to re-connect. Please stay safe and take care in the coming weeks. We hope we can once again offer our competitions, services and programs to all our members in the coming months. Regards and Best Wishes Peter Eddy Ballarat Basketball Association

03.01.2022 Hi all, most of you will be saying WHAT?. The BBA made a bad call in counting coaches and team managers as parents. What this meant is that a Team Manager (mum of a child) was the only person allowed entry to the BBA stadium with their child.. ultimately parent 2 could not attend.... I explained to the BBA there are heaps of mum’s and dad’s that maybe the coach and also the team manager. With this I also highlighted, why should a person who volunteers and coaches/team manages not be allowed to also have their partner attend. This at most would be an extra 4 people attend the court.. so we had a WIN. A Coach is Now a Coach and a Team Manager is Now a Team Manager. Which means for your dedication and hard work, your partner can also attend or the Mum & Dad combo remains. Enjoy Troy
