24.01.2022 A 100 hectare prescribed burn by National Parks and Wildlife Service South Australia, supported by local SA Country Fire Service crew and SA Water is helping to... reduce the risk of bushfires to the community, critical assets and wildlife in the Tulka area on Eyre Peninsula. The burn on SA Water land is one of a number conducted over the past 10 years throughout the Lincoln Basin to continually manage the fire hazard in thick Mallee heath vegetation. Mallee heath is difficult to control as it must be burnt at high intensity, under strong winds to effectively carry fire through the stands of vegetation and reduce the fuel hazard to an acceptable level. This is important as National Parks and Wildlife Service South Australia uses the weather to carry the fire and to then put it out. It does this by consulting with the Bureau of Meteorology to use forecast wind and rain to its advantage. This is why BoM is consulted on days leading up to a burn and for days afterwards, with prescribed burns only undertaken if the conditions are appropriate. Aerotech Australia

We would like to thank our pilots, grounds crews, admin crews and in these photos you’ll see our Maintenance crews, working through the night to keep us in the air.
