20.01.2022 Afghan Australian Initiative leadership attended the #Anzac-Day to pay its respect to the Australians who fought and lost their lives in the last 103 years to bring #freedom and #peace around the world. Only in Afghanistan war against Taliban/ISIS, Australia lost over 40 troops and we never forget these sacrifies. The number of Afghan Australians attended this year #Anzac-Day was remarkable. There was an #Afghan #flag beside the Australian flag and few others raised too.

07.01.2022 Following on from the community information session in Dandenong in April, here is a response from the Department of Home Affairs to the questions raised by some participants about Afghans living in India and Iran. Australias Humanitarian Program is designed primarily to assist people who have left their home country because of persecution or severe human rights abuses, and who have no options for return or for resettlement in another country. o Places may also ...be available for people subject to persecution who have remained in their home country. o Anyone who believes he or she meets the requirements for a humanitarian visa and wishes to seek Australias assistance can make an application. o Each application is considered on its individual merit using current and comprehensive information on circumstances in the relevant country. Every year, many more people apply to be resettled than Australia can accept. Indeed, there are more than 48,000 offshore applications on-hand currently. The Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs decides each year the composition for the Offshore Humanitarian Program, this includes what are the priority regions and nationality groups for resettlement. Under the Special Humanitarian Program there is substantial demand for the limited number of places and therefore it is often those with a compelling applicants proposed by a close family member (such as parents, partners, children and siblings) are the only ones likely to be granted a visa. We also talked about how to apply. According to our website, applicants can apply via the internet, by email or by posting a paper application in the mail: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au//global-special-humanitari You can post or courier your completed paper application and supporting documents to us. Postal address: Special Humanitarian Processing Centre Department of Home Affairs GPO Box 9984 SYDNEY NSW 2001 Courier deliveries Special Humanitarian Processing Centre Department of Home Affairs Level 3, 26 Lee Street SYDNEY NSW 2001 We do not accept hand-delivered applications.
