12.01.2022 An incredibly important day in our fight against the coronavirus. The legislation to enact our $130 billion JobKeeper wage subsidy package has just passed thro...ugh Parliament. This wage subsidy of $1500 a fortnight will support around 6 million Australians, paid through their employer. As at 4pm today, nearly 750,000 Australian businesses have registered their interest. It will help keep Australians in jobs and businesses in business so once this virus has passed, those businesses are ready to go and we can kickstart our economy again. Our Government has moved decisively to address the twin health and economic storms that confront us as a result of the coronavirus. Preparing our health system for the challenges to come. Putting in place the economic lifeline and buffers for Australians in what is likely to be their toughest ever year in 2020. This is the greatest economic crisis to afflict the world in many generations. Our Government has responded with the biggest economic lifeline in Australias history with our JobKeeper package. Its a level of support this country has never, ever seen before. We still have a long way to go in this fight against the coronavirus. But through the actions we have taken to date, we have bought valuable time, to chart a way out over the next six months. I want to thank the overwhelming majority of Australians for doing the right thing by following the guidelines that have been put in place for our protection. You are saving lives, you are saving livelihoods. But we have to keep up our efforts. Progress can be easily undone as we have seen in other places around the world. That means this Easter, you need to stay home. Dont travel. Dont go away. We cant let up now. Australia is a strong country. We are a strong people and we will continue to be strong. We will get through this together, Australia.

11.01.2022 Are you like Edward and Edna? Edward and Edna own and run a small irrigation supplies business. On 27 March 2020 the business purchases a luxury car that is designed to carry passengers, for $80,000. The instant asset write-off threshold at the time they first use the car in the business is $150,000. The cost of the car for depreciation is limited to the car limit at that time. As the cost of the car is above the $57,581 car cost limit for depreciation, the business can only ...claim an instant asset write-off of $57,581 for the year ending 30 June 2020. The business cant claim the excess cost of the car under any other depreciation rules. They also decide to update their work ute and the business purchases a ute for $65,000 on 27 April 2020. The ute isnt designed to carry passengers (and has been set up with all the trade tools in the tray) so the car cost limit for depreciation doesnt apply. The business can claim a full deduction of $65,000 as an instant asset write-off.

04.01.2022 One of Australia's leading voices in economic forecasting is warning of a new price bubble that's about to dramatically inflate the asking price for Aussie home...s and the culprit, he says, is the Reserve Bank after it cut the official cash rate to just 0.1%. An all-time low that's sure to see more people taking out loans and making offers on property that they previously couldn't afford. This comes at a time when sellers are pouring back into the market and buyers are finding the confidence to bid. Last weekend, Sydney recorded an auction clearance rate of 73% - back to pre-pandemic levels. www.7NEWS.com.au #Property #7NEWS
