24.01.2022 Singapore will allow entry to travellers from Australia, excluding coronavirus hot spot Victoria, beginning next week. Vietnam is also being granted the exemption from coronavirus restrictions. The tiny city-state last month welcomed visitors from Brunei and New Zealand, and is cautiously reopening its borders to help revive its airport, a key regional aviation hub. The aviation authority has said there is a low risk of virus importation from Australia and Vietnam. [ 107 more words ] https://afndaily.com.au//singapore-to-allow-entry-from-au/

21.01.2022 House prices jumped 2.1 per cent in February, their largest national monthly rise since August 2003, spurred on by record low mortgage rates, improving economic conditions and government incentives. Housing analysts CoreLogic say housing values are rising across every capital city and state region, a synchronised growth phase that hasn't been seen in Australia for more than a decade. The last time this occurred for a sustained period was mid-2009 through to early 2010, as post-GFC stimulus fuelled buyer demand, CoreLogic's research director Tim Lawless said.... https://afndaily.com.au//house-prices-see-biggest-rise-si/

19.01.2022 Flight Centre is closing 90 of its travel agencies across the world, having already cut about 4,000 jobs this year due to the pandemic ravaging the travel industry. Many of the closures will be in Australia, although chief executive Graham Turner said this did not necessarily mean more redundancies. There are about 400 Flight Centre agencies left in Australia. "A lot of these shops will be more heavily staffed than they were in the past so we'll be building them back up with staff coming back on board as the business returns," Mr Turner told ABC television on Thursday. 18.01.2022 Politicians and economists are pretty confident the Australian economy has rebounded from its massive economic contraction as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. A series of reports over the next week and half will give clues as to the size of of that recovery ahead of the September quarter national accounts due on December 2, and what it might mean for the final three months of the year.... https://afndaily.com.au//australian-growth-jigsaw-puzzle-/

18.01.2022 Australians are being teased with the prospect of international travel, although it could still be some time before the nation's coronavirus-prompted border closure is lifted. Singapore is allowing Australian travellers - except for Victorians - into the city-state from October 8, subject to a COVID-19 test upon arrival. But Australians are not allowed to travel overseas without an exemption from the Department of Home Affairs, and would still have to foot the bill for 14 days of hotel quarantine after returning. 18.01.2022 Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has conceded New Zealand's health system must be more proactive to treat women suffering from endometriosis. The debilitating condition, which occurs when uterine cells grow in other parts of the body, is estimated to affect 130,000 Kiwis. Many women struggle for years to get a diagnosis of the disease, and most in New Zealand are dependent on the under-pressure public health system for access to treatment. 17.01.2022 Job advertising accelerated over summer, suggesting solid employment gains in coming months. The ANZ job ads series surged 7.2 per cent in February, following an upwardly revised 2.6 per cent increase in January, and lifting the annual rate to 13.4 per cent, the highest level since 2018. "The ongoing strength in ANZ job ads gives us confidence that we'll see solid net employment gains continue over February and March at least, and that the impact of the end of JobKeeper in March will be mitigated to some extent," ANZ senior economist Catherine Birch said.... https://afndaily.com.au//job-ads-point-to-solid-employmen/

16.01.2022 Australians are being tempted to take an interstate trip through extra funding for outdoor attractions. 15.01.2022 It's not so much the scale of the support but the "attitude" being brought to backing small and medium-sized businesses in the federal budget that counts. That is the view of Assistant Treasurer Michael Sukkar, who has been helping pull together next Tuesday's budget. The government has unveiled a dozen changes to fringe benefits tax and the way businesses deal with the tax office. [ 426 more words ] https://afndaily.com.au//small-businesses-to-gain-more-ta/

14.01.2022 Australia is under increasing global pressure to adopt a net zero emissions by 2050 target, with the Fijian prime minister labelling the goal a matter of life or death. Frank Bainimarama is an outspoken advocate for climate action and says that while the coronavirus pandemic has crippled economies, climate change is more devastating. 11.01.2022 The Queensland government is concerned Victoria easing COVID-19 restrictions and NSW school holidays could spread coronavirus and potentially delay the border reopening. The state government says both southern states must go for 28 days without a single incident of undetermined community transmission for the borders to fully reopen. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says her chief health officer is carefully watching both states after Victoria partially eased lockdown on Sunday and NSW school holidays started on Monday.
