03.01.2022 MISS AFRICA HITTING THE GROUND RUNNING! What a day it has been! ATTENDED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP ON WELLNESS This morning I was delighted to attend ...a women's wellness workshop with Perth Ethiopian Women’s Community Inc. facilitated by Tandi Kuwana. It was insightful to learn the importance of practicing self care in our daily routines. CONTRIBUTED TO WA GOVERNMENT'S 10 YEAR WOMEN'S STRATEGY PLAN In the afternoon I attended a women’s forum hosted by Hon. Simone McGurk MLA, Minister for Child Protection; Women's Interests and Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence. I contributed to the WA State Government's plan to help tackle gender equality in our society. The outcomes of this forum will help shape our State's 10 year Women's Strategy Plan. During the forum, local women and girls from diverse backgrounds had the opportunity to have their voices heard. I raised various issues of concern relating to women's safety and justice, health and wellbeing, empowerment as well as economic independence. I believe that my recommendations and those collected during the consultation process will assist in removing barriers and improve services to women and girls from CALD backgrounds. Thank you to the hosts for giving us the opportunity to have our voices heard, and thank you to the State government in developing a plan to implement gender equality.
