23.01.2022 Shout out to Exeter Farm and Feed for their lovely donation of cat food.

23.01.2022 We have one more week for the raffle. Last chance to buy your tickets. https://www.facebook.com/events/1577081312448192/

22.01.2022 Captain Wentworth received a big cuddle from a visitor. He'll be ready to adopt in two weeks.

22.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who took part in our most recent raffle by either donating a prize, sharing our posts on Facebook or purchasing tickets. $820 was raised in total! An amazing effort. We are very grateful. Some of the prizes have been donated back and we will be having another fundraiser at Christmas. We are thinking of making it an auction as everyone is possibly a bit over buying raffle tickets at the moment ;-) Anyway, we'll worry about that later. In the meantime, we're doing the dance of joy.

20.01.2022 On March 15th, I started collecting items for a fundraising raffle for the rescue. I decided to postpone it as everyone began isolating and I haven't been at work for weeks. However I have decided to start collecting and trust that I can sell the tickets online. We have had a kitten come in (Captain Wentworth) who has a broken elbow. He will either need a pin in it or an amputation (it's broken in a difficult place). I'm hoping the pin will be possible, but either way, we'll have a surgery to pay for. If you can help us with prizes we would love to hear from you. If you are a business, perhaps you could consider donating a voucher.

20.01.2022 $715 raised so far. Thank you! Last chance to purchase tickets.

19.01.2022 Our application for a stall at Veganfest in Kingston has been successful. Woo hoo! Looking forward to attending a third Veganfest. We'll have our cards for sale as well as Christmas stockings and more. If I can get some prizes together, we may even run a raffle. Hope to see you at Veganfest.

16.01.2022 Dine cat food in the tray is on special at the IGA for 79 cents per tray. Please consider buying one or two for Agatha's Cat Rescue when you do your shopping. We like using Dine when it's on special as the tray and lid can both be put in the recycling bin

15.01.2022 Agatha's Cat Rescue are very grateful for the boxes of goodies we received. The gloves have been put to use straight away. We use them when we're cleaning out the cat litters (at least twice a day), cleaning bowls and litter trays, and when handling the dirty laundry.

14.01.2022 Seeking a foster carer for one of our kittens. He's skittish and needs lots of one on one attention. He's not ready to go in the enclosure with the other cats. Can you help us out? We will supply his food. Best place for him at the moment is where there aren't any small children or other animals.

13.01.2022 Thanks for all your comments and questions on this important topic. For the most up to date information on the changes please continue to check our webpages on ...the links below. We will continue to update the webpages over time. >----------------------------------------------------------> Amendments to the CAT MANAGEMENT ACT 2009 are changing the way cats are cared for and managed in Tasmania. These changes will impact all cat owners and we want to tell you about the changes that may be important to you. Some of the changes come into effect TODAY, with other changes starting in March 2022, to give people time to adjust to the new requirements. Commencing today (1 March 2021): * A person will be permitted to trap a cat on their private property, as long as any cat that is trapped is either returned to its owner or taken to a cat management facility. * A cat that is being cared for at a cat management facility must be microchipped and desexed before being reclaimed from the facility. * Primary producers or occupiers of production premises will have more options for managing stray and feral cats affecting their land or premises. Commencing in MARCH 2022: * Cats must be microchipped and desexed by four months of age. * A person must not keep more than four cats, over the age of four months, on their property without a multiple cat permit. * The State Government will no longer be registering cat breeders. Anyone wishing to breed a cat in Tasmania will be required to be a member of a cat organisation or will have the option of applying for a conditional permit to breed a cat. * The option of a Care Agreement on the sale of a cat will be removed. Biosecurity Tasmania will be providing more information about these changes, and what they mean for cat owners over the coming months. For more information visit https://dpipwe.tas.gov.au//c/cat-management-act-amendments

10.01.2022 So I went out to the cat enclosures today and I said 'Albert, what do you think of people who don't like cats?' and Albert said...

10.01.2022 Agatha's Cat Rescue would love to hear from any businesses who would like to stock our cat greeting cards. Can do wholesale or commission. I am currently in my third week of not working and have njust been told by the boss it will be at least another four weeks before I can resume work. I need to keep the $ coming in for the cats. Any assistance would be most welcome.

05.01.2022 About a week ago, someone messaged me offering a prize for the next auction. At the time I was unable to reply but meant to do it later. Only thing is, I can't find the message! If you are that person, I'm sorry for not replying. I"m not deliberately being rude. Please contact me if you are still happy to donate.

05.01.2022 Please contact me if you haven't received your raffle ticket numbers yet. With being made redundant at work and applying for jobs, plus experiencing frequent migraines, I may have missed someone as I haven't been able to check daily. Chris Rose, Karin Gethin and Lisa Gillard - I will write your tickets this afternoon.

03.01.2022 Agatha's Cat Rescue is still open for adoptions, however we have made some changes. We take everyone's safety seriously. As usual, you will need to make an appointment but we request you bring no more than one other person with you. Hand sanitiser is available for you to use on arrival and before leaving. You will still get to spend time with the cats - we will just be keeping our distance outside the enclosure but will be answering any questions you have. You must bring your own cat carrier as we currently aren't able to loan out ours. Stay well everyone.
