25.01.2022 Tomorrow at 1:30 at Mary's Grange Lynne and I will be playing a concert again for the residents. If you have a loved one living there, come to the community room.

20.01.2022 Just a little taste of what It'll look and sound like when I present the Sitar to residents. I am usually asked a few questions about it's origin and built. So there are often interesting stories emerging when people share their own experiences of music and travel.

19.01.2022 A Sunday afternoon concert at the Hall for Senior Citizens. Lynne Griffiths on harp and flutes, Umesh Pratap on Tabla and myself on Sitar and Indian violin.

18.01.2022 Available at the Beach Rd second hand shop.

18.01.2022 Now is the time to try something new, since many of us got a bit more time to play.

17.01.2022 Pokarekare Aana, a Maori song I learned from a friend who grew up in Rotarura. I apologise for wrong pronounciation. Anyway, I'm used to having an accent :-)

17.01.2022 I found this for you to spend some time on :-)

17.01.2022 It's been amongst my most rewarding experiences this year to play concerts in Aged Care facilities with my friend Lynne. Its humbling to watch the power of music lifting peoples spirit.

16.01.2022 'TEAHOUSE' at BUPA Retirement Village. So far the only non-original piece played. It's a 16th century composition called 'Bear Dance'.

15.01.2022 Strollers come to the second hand shop at Kingston Beach road regularly. You can safe some mony here, if you need one. Naturally they're all in good conditions.

15.01.2022 Live at BUPA Retirement Village, part of our 'Leisure & Lifestyle Tour', here we are again putting smiles on peoples faces. Relatives of residents are actually now making the effort to visit when the concert is on :-) Now that's a nice compliment! .

15.01.2022 Papa Wairi, a Maori song I was taught on the Cook Islands. While under New Zealand administrations the chiefs are running the various islands. I was lucky to be there when they had their annual competition of performances for a whole week.

14.01.2022 I wouldn't call them redundant. It's not one or the other. We need the villages as much as supporting people who want to stay at home.

11.01.2022 Had an enjoyable walk with one of my clients and a coffe to top it off. I love hearing people's stories.

11.01.2022 The Saenga is a 3-stringed lute originating from the North of Thailand, Burma and Laos, the Golden Triangle. I was searching for traditional Thai instruments, but the music shops were stacked with cheap keyboards and nasty guitars. Then I had a brainwave and I did what I always do: I googled my request. Up came a video of a lady watching a Thai man in a music shop playing a Thai violin. I contacted the lady via FB and she gave me the name of the guy and a cafe nearby. Off I went to the cafe and the owner took me to the man. So within a few days I had my Saenga. OK now. Here it is meeting a Shri Lankan violin or Esraj. They seem to get along allright ;-)

09.01.2022 I have heard about the power of music, I have read and learned about it and have seen people dancing or falling asleep to our live music, depending what we played. However experiencing the effect on people, live in an Aged Care facility was an unforgettable experience. Residents who I had met during my work placement and who barely communicated or initiated activities were sitting straight up with shiny eyes listening to Lynne and I play our music. There were questions, interactions and smiles and claps all around. If it's that easy to bring joy to these people, I'll never stop doing it. However the next concert will be at the Kingston School for Seniors, 35 Redwood Road. Sunday 9th December 2pm!

06.01.2022 A recital at the School for Senior Citizens.

04.01.2022 Here's the moment when I first played the Seung in my hotel room. It was a bit of a journey through Chang Mai (Thailand) to find Manop and there was a lot of help by the local people. They just enjoy helping you along. I had to ask to use a shops phone and they just hand you their mobile. Seems not to be a big deal, but I took a few thoughts back home with me.

02.01.2022 Here's an improvised piece 'plucked from the Ether' by 'Teahouse'. Lynne Griffiths (Harp, Flutes), Umesh Pratap (Tabla) and myself at the Seniors Citizen's Hall..
