23.01.2022 Believe it or not my friends, I’m going to be performing in this show, Requiem, with my lovely dancing friends from WaW Dance and, wait for it EDC and TAV. Who ever would have thought it? With the show starting next week excitement is building apace. We have been so inpressed with the respect and kindness of the hugely talented young people we are working with, rehearsals have been a joy and I expect performance to be even better. It’s a fabulous show do so come along, you definitely will enjoy the show.

23.01.2022 What a great morning at Music and Movement....That feather was gently blown around from hand to hand. 13 enjoying the fun. We have some wicked pom pom (ball) throwers.

21.01.2022 Check out the link https://phub.griffith.edu.au>eve-349 and do come along to South Bank on 25th and 26th October. Unlike so many of these events, Professor Michael Balfour and colleagues have kept this one relatively small and affordable thus enabling anyone who is really interested in ageing creatively to come along, learn some new things, meet some fabulous people and share personal and professional experience. You will be able to participate in 2 workshops, each delivered by internationally recognised presenters and will be able to attend every presentation, even mine! None of that annoying trying to decide which to attend and rushing about between rooms. Hope to see you there, Salute Beverley

20.01.2022 The fabulous women of WaW Dance gathered last Sunday to dance in solidarity with more than a billion women rising world wide in recognition of International Womens' Day. We were proud to show our support for the services supporting victims and survivors of domestic violence

19.01.2022 Hi Everybody. Here is a great opportunity which has come about because of COVID - 19. brilliant teachers and you can book into their classes for only $10 a class, $8 if you book before May 4. Talk about a virus positive. I can now participate in a dance class every day but Sunday and even on tha day I can call up one of the recorded classes and do that. I knew, starting so late in life I had to make up for a lot of years, gosh this way I will speeding along. Salute Beverley Giles

18.01.2022 This is a fantastic free resource developed to make engagement with the arts available to anyone who has access to the internet. To me it constitutes a practical way of assisting caregivers to bring joy to those for whom they care, whilst ensuring they are ageing creatively themselves.Give it a go, you'll love it.

17.01.2022 Music is a wonderful equaliser, a marvellous way to share joyful engagement across generations, interests and abilities. We can all have such fun singing for joy whilst at the same time boosting brain health.

14.01.2022 Dance for the joy of it, I've not found any better way to experience joy than dancing with Tuesday and Saturday friends and my beautiful grandchildren, anytime.

13.01.2022 Hello All I have fabulous news to share. I'm sure I don't have to remind you of my enthusiasm for dance as a wonderful way for people affected by dementia to en...joy something that builds wonderful friendships, provides joyful laughter filled exercise and at the same time causes the brain to grow new cells and most important of all, create new connections. Yes? Well from next Tuesday, 22nd January, the Brisbane class will have a new teacher Lizzie Vilmanis, and I have no doubt she has all the required attributes and more I haven't yet thought of. I could hardly believe it when I plucked up the courage to ask Lizzie if she would consider the role and she came straight back, and said she would be delighted. Every conversation since has taken that positive stance. Huge excitement amongst our fabulous dancers when I told them that the very next week they would be led by the incomparable Lizzie. Google the name my friends and you can see the wonderful potential for our dance class to promote a positive image of people with dementia, as we know them, and not all the negativity seen elsewhere. Every week, I experience such joy when I dance with them, now, it is going to be even better. Photos below of Lizzie with Everyday Requiem co-star Brian Lucas See more

12.01.2022 A timely reminder to revive my neglected Ukelele and warm up the reluctant fingers. This is a succinct presentation on why. Salute

10.01.2022 Charleville will be demonstrating the wonderful support they give to being a dementia friendly town in much more than name. For three days, beginning on 6th Sep...tember, led by their ever energetic Mayor Annie Liston, the town will celebrate their 150th Birthday (+3) as featured in this poster. On Friday 7th, there will be a Lantern Parade, featuring a Float to celebrate the joint themes of Charleville being both a Healthy/Creative Ageing and Dementia Friendly Town. As you can see, they have been busy in the Healthy Ageing Centre making Lanterns, and Posters. I'm sure those who know me won't need to be told how delighted I wa,s to see images of this happening. If ever anyone needed evidence of potential released, of what joy and achievement there is, when people with all sorts of possibly untapped or renewed abilities, are given the opportunity to strut their stuff. Hooray! And, it would not have happened without Charlevilles' Dementia Friends leading the way, providing the wherewithal. I'll be there in September to celebrate and join in all the fabulous events, especailly the Lantern Parade and Fur Ball. Come dance with me. Salute Beverley See more

04.01.2022 Some interesting connections available here. Any other year, one would have to go to the UK to join in these Festival events. I'm finding it helps a tad, n this time of COVID-19,if one is able , even briefly to dwell on the pluses. For me, it has definitely been access to a wonderful collection of creative connections. Many thanks to the artists and organisations who ahve made this possible, When this is over, we must try hard to ensure we do not forget Beverley Giles
