21.01.2022 Out with Cancer Study UWS want to know about LGBTQI+ experiences of cancer and cancer care. LGBTQI+ includes people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, born with a variation in sex characteristics (intersex variation), and those who identify with other descriptor terms used in our communities.... LGBTQI+ people UWS are interested in LGBTQI+ experiences of cancer and cancer care, and medical intervention to reduce cancer risk. Partner(s), family members and friends UWS want to hear from the partners, family members and friends of LGBTQI+ people with cancer, as well as LGBTQI+ people who have cared for someone with cancer (15y+). Take their online survey (20 to 45 mins) with the option of a follow-up interview to discuss your experiences in more depth. You can also take part in a further photo interview, using photos taken by you. 21.01.2022 Changing the Conversation on Adult Influenza Vaccination is a ground-breaking study conducted by the International Federation on Ageing (IFA) on the status of influenza campaigns focused on the most vulnerable members of our population older adults and those with underlying chronic conditions. Influenza, one of the most common infectious diseases, kills up to 650 000 people every year. Of these deaths, some 90% occur in people aged 65 years and older. While the influenza vaccine is a recommended action, rates of vaccination remains sub-optimal among older adults and those with weaker immune systems. 16.01.2022 Research released Monday presents over 50 quality indicators about residential aged care including how results are distributed across facilities. This is the most detailed profile of quality in residential aged care that has been published in Australia. Around 57% of aged care facilities in Australia are operated by not-for-profit organisations, 34% are operated by for-profit organisations, and just 9% are operated by Government organisations. Government-run facilities showe...d the best average results for 31 indicators, compared to 2 indicators for not-for-profit facilities and 1 indicator for the for-profit facilities.
