25.01.2022 Hey! It's Jem here with my favourite quote! I think it shows how important it is to express yourself regardless of stereotypes! #shareyoursmile

25.01.2022 Hey everybody! It’s Sara and this is my story. I’ve grown up in a very different world. When I was 11 my parents separated, my dad was somewhat present for a while but then he decided to part ways with my family. It’s been 5 years of living in a household of all females after my pop passed away in late 2017. It has been difficult to live without a prominent male father figure in my life for so long and I struggled and still sometimes struggle with the concept of self accepta...nce. Because of the abandonment I felt when my father left, I struggled to accept myself, because I felt it was because of me that he left. I have only just begun to realise that my father was a catalyst for me to realise not only that had fallen to people's judgement of me, but that I was also insecure. I’ve learnt to know that insecurities are ok to have, however it is not for us to have them control our feelings about ourselves. We should not be ashamed of ourselves. We all need to go on a journey of self love. It is a journey and it is a long one but we need to be willing to take it. Start your journey and share your story #shareyoursmile #youngleader #mystory

24.01.2022 Hi! It's Jess here and if I were able to give advice to my past self I would say to be more relaxed and to stop worrying about everything, especially school. Our world is so fast paced and career driven that sometimes we forget to stop and just live in the moment. We get overwhelmed by the pressure surrounding us and forget to focus on the small things that life has to offer. It's important to take time for ourselves, spend time with friends and family and to focus on the important things in life. #shareyoursmile

22.01.2022 Hey! My name is Jemma, I’m 17 years old and I’m from New South Wales. In my spare time I like boxing, hiking and watching the footy. I was inspired to become part of the agents in 2019 by the concept of servant leadership which was explored at NLC in 2018. Throughout the program, I have worked with a group of leaders from around Australia which has allowed me to share my passion of serving others in the community. I’m excited to see the impact of the project in the near future.

20.01.2022 Hey guys, Mack here and if I had any advice to give to my past self it would be Change is a gift. If the opportunity arises that has an element of change involved, embrace it! You will learn so much about yourself when you do. Every time I have been given the opportunity to participate in change, I have learnt something about myself that I didn’t know before. Whether that something was a good or bad thing, I was better off for it. Once you discover this, you regret all of those times where you could have changed yourself or something for the better, and you look back and wonder what would be different now if you had have run with that opportunity. So past self embrace every change that comes your way! Especially any loose change cause you’ll need it. #shareyoursmile

19.01.2022 I was born in South Africa and then moved to Australia in 2010, it was a very difficult move, we left our family and our friends behind. I struggled to fit into the strange new country we just moved to. I have now lived most of my life here in Australia and I consider it as my home now, although I still miss my family back in South Africa. But I wouldn’t change a thing and I would never choose to go back. I have always, for as long as I could remember been trying to impress ...everyone and make everyone like me. At times I felt like an outsider in my newfound home. I felt that I wasn’t good enough and that I was unwanted. I didn’t feel that I could be authentic, I felt like I couldn’t be myself. In my later years of high school, I met some amazing friends that helped me realise that I am good enough and that I can’t make everyone happy. There are going to be people in life that aren’t going to like me and that is ok. God has played a big role in my life and he has helped me accept who I am, he has comforted me, and he has been by my side through thick and thin. I am very grateful for the people I’ve met in my life, who helped me discover my authentic self and to help me realise I can be myself with everyone, and not suppress who I really am just to win their approval. Over the years I realised I am who I am and if someone doesn’t like the way I am that is totally ok. I don’t have to change my self to make people like me. My hope is for everyone to be there authentic selves and for them to feel comfortable in their own skin. #shareyoursmile #youngleader #mystory

18.01.2022 Hey crew! Jemma here with my part of the Agents Smile Project. The main aim of our Smile project is to serve others by breaking down the barriers of stereotypes and revealing a person’s most authentic self. In my experience, involvement in a sporting team allows us to break down barriers and find true friends with common interests, while still having fun along the way. I play netball with a group of close friends who I’m currently finishing Year 12 with, and spending this tim...e with them playing netball each weekend not only allows us all to take a break from the stress of school and the HSC, but to take a step back and remember the importance of fun and being with friends. By continuing to play netball through our HSC year, we are not only positively impacting ourselves, our happiness and our health, but proving that girls can continue to be involved with sport as they get older, challenging the stereotype that girls should stop playing sport as they get older. Playing sport with my friends makes me Smile. See more

17.01.2022 Hey! Bella here and this is my story. The HSC has proven to be only the start of many daunting tasks and challenges that I am yet to face throughout my life. Throughout my last years of high school, I have come to realise that when confronted with these challenges, I either procrastinate and put them off, ignore them completely, pass them off to someone else or I face them (rarely). Sound familiar? But what I have learnt is that there is nothing more satisfying than a sense o...f accomplishment and a smile of self-pride. The positive outcome of overcoming a challenge is far more rewarding than the guilt left if you hadn’t tried at all. So face your challenges with optimism and acceptance. Start with a smile and just try your best. #shareyoursmile

11.01.2022 Hi! It's Samar here with my favourite quote. Embrace your uniqueness and use it to be a change maker. #shareyoursmile

06.01.2022 Hey team, Jemma here with my favourite quote! #shareyoursmile #favouritequote #youngleader

06.01.2022 Hey people! My name is Josh, I’m 17 years old and I’m from Tasmania. In my spare time I love to listen to my favourite bands, play guitar, procrastinate and hang out with my mates. I’m involved with the agents this year because I find immense fulfilment when I am able to do something that makes a difference to other people. Being a part of this program has enabled me to work closely together with a group of driven and like-minded people, an experience that I am extremely grateful for!

04.01.2022 Hi, this is Ruag and as part of the Agents 2019 for my smile project i have organised a hangout with my friends from school. We had a fire and we just had a break from all the stress in our year 12 lives. We shared stories, connected and built more meaningful relationships. The aim of our project is to share meaningful stories to reveal our most authentic selves.

03.01.2022 Hey guys, Josh here. If I were able to give one piece of advice to my past self, it would be not to take anything for granted. Life moves so fast and it can be quite easy for us to lose perspective and take the seemingly small things in our life for granted.

02.01.2022 Hi! I’m Lily, I’m 17 and I'm from the Hunter Valley in NSW. I currently go to boarding school in Sydney, which I love and am so grateful for- If it wasn’t for Boarding I would not be a Burn Bright agent. Not only was it the independence, confidence and leadership boarding gave me, but I was inspired to attend NLC by my boarding-bestie Lani, who’s now an intern herself! As much as I love Sydney, my favourite thing to do is to go home to spend time with friends and family, as well as playing sport. The Burn Bright Agents has allowed me to meet heaps of like-minded people who share a passion for leadership. I’ve absolutely loved the experience and the opportunities it has provided.
