24.01.2022 Western Australia has recorded one new case of COVID-19 in the community overnight in relation to NSW travel. As a result, and until public health can confirm i...f the virus has spread, restrictions will come into effect immediately for the Perth-Peel region for a minimum period of three days. These restrictions include: - Mandatory mask wearing indoors, on public transport, and outdoors where physical distancing is not possible, primary school aged children and those who are exempt are not required to wear masks; - Public events that cannot be restricted to 150 people will be cancelled or played without spectators today including the Chicken and Beer Festival and AFL West Coast Eagles vs Western Bulldogs match at Optus Stadium. The match will proceed, but without spectators. - 30-person limit in all homes for private gatherings; - Hospitality, entertainment venues (including casino and nightclubs), retail, beauty/hairdressers, recreation centres (including gyms, pilates, yoga, dance and swimming pools) and places of worship can remain open, but must comply with the 2 square metre rule, with a maximum of 150 patrons. - Community sport is permitted. - Wedding and funerals can also proceed but will be limited to a maximum of 150 attendees. - Hospitals will have a maximum of four personal visitors permitted per patient per day masks will be mandatory for staff and visitors. - Anyone who enters a regional area from the Perth-Peel region is required to wear a mask as per requirements in Perth-Peel, and travel should be minimised. Travel to remote Aboriginal Communities will be restricted. All these measures will be reviewed regularly and the Chief Health Officer will continue to monitor the serious situation and provide more ongoing advice. Everyone is urged to continue checking in using the SafeWA app or contact registers, get tested if you feel unwell and visit wa.gov.au/covid19 for further information.

20.01.2022 It is with much regret that we announce the cancellation of RFLAN 65 due to significantly lower than anticipated ticket sales. The event was scheduled to be held on March 21-22, 2020 at Curtin Stadium, Perth. Red Flag Lan Fest Inc, the not-for-profit incorporated association that manages and runs each RFLAN event, is a 100% volunteer-run organisation that strives to provide the best possible gaming experience in Australia. Despite our volunteer-run and not-for-profit status, ...the event still attracts significant hire costs that would cause the event to make a significant loss if it went ahead based on the projected ticket sales. We will be providing a full refund for all tickets that have been purchased for the event later today. The RFLAN Committee would like to thank each and every attendee, sponsor and volunteer that has supported the event. The decision to cancel RFLAN 65 was not made lightly, but was done to ensure we can continue to run the events that you have come to expect over our near 19 year operating history. 13.01.2022 IMPORTANT: Following the detection of another local case in Perth’s northern suburbs, Perth and Peel will enter a circuit-breaker lockdown for a minimum of four days from midnight tonight. Tonight’s new positive case is a man in his 30s - he worked at the Indian Ocean Brewery and he had a meal at the brewery on the same night as the original case on the evening of Tuesday 22 June. Once again, it only involved fleeting contact with the original case. Tonight we also had geno...mic sequencing confirm that the original case, who had visited Sydney, is now confirmed as carrying the Delta variant, the same variant from the Sydney outbreak. That is why, based on advice from the Chief Health Officer, effective from midnight tonight, Perth and Peel will enter a full lockdown for four days, at a minimum. We will continue to review the situation, based on testing numbers and information from our contact tracing team, and provide updates when we can. We hope this will be a circuit-breaker which will give our testers and contact tracers time to nail down a truer picture of how far this latest outbreak has spread. We are worried this new variant can linger in the community and can transmit between people very easily. So please, I ask everyone, to do the right thing here and follow the health advice and instructions we are putting in place. See more
