23.01.2022 I wanted to personally introduce myself. The designer, creator and builder of this #aquaponics system. I call it the System 10.5 - 10 grow beds, 10.5 sqm of grow area using 3 different growing techniques. 4 x Deep water culture (DWC) beds, 4 x Media beds - flood and drain using expanded clay balls (Canna) and 2 x wicking beds. This is connected to a 1000ltre fish tank with 50 Silver Perch, a 200ltr swirl filter, 200ltr mineralisation tank, 1 x 30watt / 12v water pump, 1 x 12v air pump, 270watt solar panels powering 2 x 120Ah DC batteries. To create a greenhouse Ive recently installed 10 x clear poly @ziptrak blinds. I'm not saying we all need to cut out meat from our diet but lets relook at the amount of plant vs meat we are consuming. I still eat meat but far less than I used too. When I do, I make sure I know the source and its sustainable. There is a strong argument for eating more locally grown plants in your diet. Fresh veggies which have travelled low miles to get to your kitchen. (If it hasn'...t, its not fresh... Using 2 x 200ltr grow beds with bell siphons creating flood and drain environment with expanded clay balls as the media. A 12v PondMAX pump running 24/7 from within connected sumps. ... 03.01.2022 What is Aquaponics? Its a symbolic relationship of growing plants in fish water. The fish create nutrients for the plants and the plants clean and filter the water for the fish. Its a closed water loop system therefore being very efficient using 90% less water than conventional farming. The only input is fish food. No pesticides, herbicides or other nastys allowed as it will harm the fish. The food produced is USDA certified #organic.
