24.01.2022 A big thank you and farewell to Tom Stewart who departs for the family farm after 2.5 years of dedication to AgXtra. A quiet achiever who will be missed by us all!

22.01.2022 Sam originates from the Meningie region of South Australia, where he grew up on a grazing property before completing his education in Adelaide. Another avid footballer, and a graduate from the University of Adelaide with a BAgSc, Sam joined our team in August following a stint as a trainee agronomist on the Yorke Peninsula. Sam will be working in our plant breeding unit along with Anthony Smith and Dave Beelitz

21.01.2022 Last week Shafiya Hussein from Longreach Plant Breeders presented at our dual-purpose awnless wheat site at Jamestown. This is a joint LRPB and SAGIT project with 3 TOS sites across SA, managed by AgXtras Anthony Smith and the plant breeding team. The presentation sparked a lot of discussion with local growers and hopefully we will see some of varieties on the commercial market in the next few years! #longreach #plantbreeding #ausag #agxtra

20.01.2022 Great achievement at last weekends Riverland Dinghy Club Inc. derby in Renmark by the team of Andrew Schulz and Joel Porter in the first outing in a new boat. The boat looked a treat, and AgXtra are a proud sponsor for 2020 along with Kelly Toyota and Webbs Tyre Service in Jamestown!

20.01.2022 Crop comp update Regular updates and photos have been emailed to school and uni teams to assist in decision making throughout the growing season. Crops are now at the late stem elongation growth stage, with teams having the option to apply fertiliser and fungicides to their plots. Edwina and Justin applied these last week before 8mm of rainfall was recorded at the site over the weekend. 19.01.2022 Weve been working away for the last week or so, but getting to this point and being truly harvest compliant and ready requires a lot of work. Big shout out to Aldom Motor Body Builders, Don's Auto Electrical (Newton), Full Lock Fabrication, RAG Engineering (Truro), Col Warner from WINTERSTEIGER AG, and our own broadacre team, in particular Josh Barrett and Anthony Smith who have been outstanding. Perfectly prepared, its now down to long hours and some good harvest luck! ... #ausag #agxtra #happyharvesting #harvest19

18.01.2022 Whilst the South Australian teams have halted harvest, our NSW group of Kellie, Ryan and Richard are full steam ahead! Our old girl Kylie the Kingaroy, is working hard to get through some bumper canola crops. It might be slow going, but these crops are a stark difference from the tough conditions over the past couple of years! #agxtra #ausag #harvest2020 #ATeam

18.01.2022 Graingrowers in the Edithburgh, Yorketown and Honiton areas should be aware that there is a hotspot of high mice activity in winter crops in the southern Yorke Peninsula area. AgXtra has been conducting monthly surveillance for mice as part of a GRDC-funded project to investigate pest and beneficial invertebrate diversity in cropping areas of the YP and KI after widespread devastation by fires early in the year. Growers are urged to check their crops for damage or evidence of active burrows. Baiting with zinc phosphide should be considered where the presence of mice is clear. For further information, please contact Julianne Farrell, Senior Research Officer at AgXtra on 0411 257 831. #yorkepeninsula #agxtra #ausag #GRDC

18.01.2022 Steph, Anthony and Caelan kicked off our #NVT harvest last week in perfect conditions! With a smooth start, we have already completed some barley, canola and field peas at our sites on the Yorke Peninsula! #nvtonline #plantbreeding #GRDC #harvest2020

17.01.2022 Given the recent bushfires that devastated Kangaroo Island and the Yorke Peninsula in SA, our entomology team at AgXtra is investigating the impacts on both soil health and insect populations across a grain crop fire scar. #grdc #soilhealth #ento #ausag #agchatoz Grains Research and Development Corporation

15.01.2022 On Friday some of our staff took to the camera when representatives from Catholic Education South Australia Vocational Education & Training came to visit. Interviews were conducted for their STEM Online Learning Page: Disrupt...Inspire...Ignite: A CESA Discovery Of STEM Careers video series. This career exploration showcases the many and varied career opportunities available, along with a focus on STEM and VET options available at school with AgXtra starring in episode 2.... An emphasis was made on agricultural vocational and university pathways available and the successful transfer of skills from one industry to another. Critical messages such as the importance of work experience, research, and seeking inspiration from industry leaders, together with capturing the new technology that influences those careers were featured. At AgXtra, we very proud to support these initiatives knowing the value in encouraging the next generation into our own and supporting industries. #ausag #CESA #agxtra #vetpathways #STEM

15.01.2022 A recent addition to our staff is David Beelitz, who has vast and diverse experience in a range of industries, each recommending him for a career at AgXtra. Originally from a family farm on Eyre Peninsula, Dave continues to manage a grazing property in the Adelaide Hills. He is a qualified fitter and turner, who has worked in machinery maintenance for a range of operations from agriculture, to earth moving, and wind farms. David will support our broadacre focused field operations, working with the plant breeding unit at Newton. Also has a fine, collectable car, for those interested in older Holdens!

14.01.2022 Humble, positive and reliable is how Ryan Laidlaw, our 2020 appointed Technical Officer in Wagga Wagga, describes himself. Originally from Chinchilla in Queensland, but more recently from a family farm near Wilmington in the mid north of South Australia, Ryan joined our team in March after 2 years working as an agronomist in Clare. A keen sportsman, with a true passion for agriculture, we are pleased to have Ryan add to our capability in Southern NSW!

07.01.2022 Having grown up on the family farm between Cowell and Kimba before moving to Adelaide to further his education, Matt joined our South Australian broadacre team following graduation from the University of Adelaide with his BAgSc. Matt has a strong work ethic and interest in evolving his agronomic knowledge. In his first few months he has quickly grasped his new role and has blended in well with the team due to his dry humour and easy going attitude. Matt is a rare Gold Coast Suns supporter and has been quite proactive in reminding the Crows supporters in the business of their current position on the ladder. As well this success, Matt is already frontrunner for the worst bogged vehicle title and has shown his dislike for tractor back windows. We are looking forward to seeing Matt progress in his role in the years to come. #agxtra #ausag

05.01.2022 A good feeling to launch Safe Ag Systems to our staff this week ahead of harvest. A system that will make our fleet management, safety inductions and our safety management and monitoring infinitely easier and more effective. 04.01.2022 The end of the week should bring with it our own rainbow: the completion of canola, wheat and barley breeding sites across SA, NSW and Vic. Great effort from all our teams! #plant2020 #plantbreeding #ausag #seeding2020

04.01.2022 Today we farewell one of our most trusted and enduring employees, Andrew Lehmann. Andrew commenced in our business in 2012, and has spent the last 8 years working in the SA broadacre unit. He is an individual who has achieved calmly, quietly and with a minimum of fuss, but always with humour. This year Andrew stepped up to lead the broadacre team in SA, and transformed it from a productivity and employee engagement perspective. Our broadacre trial program has not been so well... prepared, planned or presented for a number of years, which is testament to Andrew’s ability. Aside from leading, he was also able to develop his fellow team members, and we now have more capacity and capability in the broadacre unit than ever before. For these reasons, and for the fact he is such a unique character, Andrew will be deeply missed. He starts work in a Policy role with Grain Producers SA shortly, and I have no doubt he will excel in that environment. So today we farewell Andrew and wish him the very best for the future! See more

04.01.2022 AgXtra has experienced significant changes to personnel in recent times, and we thought we would start getting you acquainted with some of the new faces in our team. Today we introduce David Traeger, who joined the business in late 2019 as a harvest casual before commencing full time as a Technical Officer in our entomology department in January of this year. David has vast experience in R&D project management, field based trial research, as well as staff management and leadership. A long career at SARDI, including eight years as Lenswood Research Centre Manager of Research Operations, was followed by stints with Plant and Food Research and Adelaide Hills Berry Farms. We are very fortunate to have Davids calm wisdom and experience in our team! #agxtra #ausag

03.01.2022 Kellie & Tom from the Wagga office came over to Victoria this week to help Greeny out with some Crown Rot assessments. The hard work was rewarded with an afternoon ski at the local lake! #ausag #agxtra #crownrot

03.01.2022 In hiring Josh, we have done the unthinkable in recruiting an avid Port supporter, (luckily in a role outside of SA). We welcomed former Port Lincoln lad and avid cricketer Josh Mahoney to our team as Broadacre Manager (Victoria) in April this year. Josh has significant experience in Crop Protection R&D, with 3 years as Technical Manager at Chemtura, and 6 years as a senior research agronomist/regional manager for a competitor in Victoria. Away from work, Josh commits significant time to local sports including cricket and football. Based in Horsham, and complimenting Greeny at Litchfield, we look forward to evolving our capacity in the region in coming years

03.01.2022 We are very pleased to be able to announce Jess Heaslip as our graduate Technical Officer for 2021. Jess will initially be part of our Broadacre team in Adelaide, before moving in to one of our regional bases before next season. From a farm in the Pinery district of SA, and a graduate from the University of Adelaide, we look forward to having Jess start in early March.

02.01.2022 AgXtra would like to welcome back (again!) Steph Lunn to the ranks. After some time off at the end of 2017 and a career change, Steph is back and heading up the new Jamestown office. Having previously worked with the business in various roles between 2012 and 2017, including a year as manager of our Wagga Wagga office, Steph has returned to a new role. She now manages our NVT program and is overseeing community engagement for the business. We are very excited to see where these roles take Steph and AgXtra with some very exciting things in the pipeline! #agxtra #ausag

01.01.2022 Big congratulations to this Adelaide University Agricultural Students Association team, made up of Gen, Jess and Lucy, for winning the 2019 Crop Competition! Thank you to all those involved at South Australian Grain Industry Trust in the success of this years comp and to Grains Research and Development Corporation for providing the winning team tickets to the #GRDCUpdates. #cropcomp #agxtra #SAGIT #SAag #ausag
